    I wish Volvo (and Tesla) would just put a HUD when they choose not to have a driver console display. It can’t add too much to the cost. At least offer it as an option

      100%. All this safety talk but if you want to see your speed you have to look to the right? Just does not compute. HUD would be super great. Volvo's current HUD is amazing and super detailed. They don't even have to improve it just toss it in.

    It seems like Polestar and Volvo are managing to keep a fairly distinct image, Volvo is concentrating more on boxy and practical vehicles and Polestar is doing the more sporty side of things, which makes it a bit funny that this will be the fastest car of the whole Volvo / Polestar line up. I am sure Polestar will introduce some significantly faster models soon.

    A very interesting first review. Clearly a premium, high performance EV product. Could be perfect for two adults who would keep the rear seats down to double the luggage carrying capacity. In effect this achieves a coupe type result inside a practical, small hatch back design. Rear seat space is only really relevant if you actually have passengers to accommodate on a regular basis.

    This car is exciting. Because it's bringing something different to the market. However, I really wish Volvo didn't join in on the single, mid placed, display. It's bad enough that most functions require the driver to take their eyes off the road, but now you have to look off to the middle to see things as simple as your speed. Yes, we can adapt to it, but everything that takes our eyes away from the road becomes a danger. Still debating if I'm going to reserve one.

    spec-wise, the rear dimensions are bigger all around for the XC40, though not as much as you might think (2 inches of leg room, an inch or two basically all around, though it does have that armrest which is nice). All in all though as an XC40 owner I'm super impressed with what the EX30 has to offer vs the XC40 recharge and I will definitely look into "downgrading" when my lease is up!

      @@KuyaArbee totally agree. I went for a lease which softened the blow a little bit and I have no regrets as I absolutely needed a car when we got it and it was the best option at the time but I'm pumped that this one has hit the market as it'll meet my needs perfectly. Great video as usual. Really appreciate the corrections you inserted. You didn't mention CarPlay so I browsed to the Volvo website...it didn't say anything that I could find. So I chatted with someone on their chat feature who told me the EX30 would have Wireless CarPlay (the first Volvo to offer it). So glad Volvo is doing right by their customers and offering this. Strange that they aren't offering Android Auto (the OS is Google?) but that they aren't following GM down the subscribe through us or else model. Thanks Volvo! I may very well end up in one of these. Though I wish it had a speedo or information display in front of the driver (or a heads up display).

    • @WardorOfLandroval
      @WardorOfLandroval ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@benktlofgren4710 Yes, on their XC40 they list 224 mi range, 130 mi in cold weather. So, they're estimating a 42% drop in range in cold weather. They might just be very conservative with their estimates but real-world data coming from Tesla's is significantly better than this. Kyle has mentioned many times that the e-tron has poor cold weather performance and Volvo's own estimates put it about in the same ballpark.
      Now, since this is built ground up as an EV they may have made improvements in this area over the XC series. Their spec sheet doesn't list the estimate that I can see.

      @@WardorOfLandroval this is a good question: at $35K will things like heat pump be standard? Kyle mentions it has en route preconditioning, too, but that doesn't mean it's standard. I would rather see the bare bones base and be told about the upgrades, rather than see the souped up trim, then have to divine what it really looks like at base
