I don't own a Benchmade just because I haven't wanted to spend so much on a nice one but you guys are really getting me to love these knives. I held a Bugout the other day and I instantly fell in love with it. Gonna get the green one for sure!!
Hey guys, I've had the crooked river as my EDC for at least 5+ years now. snapped the tip off it once which Benchmade fixed. I also broke the Dymond wood grips once, which Benchmade replaced, both times - no questions asked, no cost. Their customer service is phenomenal, and if you are actually using your knives, it will come in handy. the only criticism i have about the knife is the Dymond wood has a very thin point by the lanyard hole, which is where my grips snapped. the regular size one is a big knife, so if you are considering one, just be aware. otherwise, i still carry it every day and don't leave the house without it. my son and wife both know its "daddy's knife."
I carry a Griptillian as my work knife. Takes the abuse I give it and always reliable. I carry a CLA as my EDC for when I'm not at work. Useful for any menial tasks I have to do throughout the day as well as super snappy in case of personal defense.
The 940-2 is my favorite EDC knife I've ever owned. S30v holds a great edge, and I absolutely love the design. If I was using my knife all day, every day, I'd go with a different steel. But I'm not that guy. This will last me decades.
Osborne 940 still my all time favorite Benchmade. I bought 3 about 10 Year’s ago, left 2 in the box, sealed. I’m pretty hard on knives so I thought I’d just have backup for when I destroyed the others. I still have the 2 extras, still sealed and in the boxes.
940 is the best EDC I have ever had. Bugout, Para2, Para3, Delica and several others. The 940 has utility for everything from food prep to opening boxes and even harder work. For me, it is perfect, just picked up a 9400 and a ProTech TR3 but my 940 still sees heavy rotation.
I first found this channel a long time ago but wasn't particularly impressed at the time, but now... love your videos, fun interesting and truly great editing, i watch a 20-30 minute video and i'm not bored one bit, and Ben still waiting for your knife collection video, i'm really curious. The Phaeton is great! I bought it after purchasing The Infidel. I like it better. I love my Griptillian too as an EDC. I live in Massachusetts and it’s illegal to carry my Infidel or Phaeton but there’s no problem carrying my Griptillian.
Michael a company on Etsy called Rogue blade works makes G10 ( in a bunch of colors) and Carbon Fiber (in normal checkered, weave pattern, and a forged urban camo variant, and a sprint run of jade G10 and checkered carbon fiber scales for the bugout. I ordered the G10 + Carbon fibre scales for the blue bugout and urban camo for the grey one. The downsides are You end up voiding the Benchmade warranty and it takes at the very least two months for the orders to go though.

Not so easy when you are an international customer. Firstly I have to buy a knife site unseen, based on a companies reputation, and have it shipped with insurance internationally to Australia. Unlike the zero shipping fees within the continental USA that the big knife companies offer it costs me and I am happy to pay around 50 USD to have an item shipped, to then return it is a further not so happy 50 USD. At the end of this farce I would be left with no knife and $100 dollars the poorer for it. Hence my being a little salty I feel is justified.
Informative video. I love BENCHMADE knives, I have 6 or 7 and I have given my son and daughters Mini-Griptilians. Ben, buy your wife her own Mini and end the problem. My wife has 2, a tan grip with a black blade and another from Benchmade's custom shop with white grips and a black blade. I'm not allowed to use them. How's that for turn about?

Not to mention that it takes up less space in pocket. So if I'm going with a Benchmade knife it's gonna be the mini griptilian every time for that reason.*

As a 940 owner I feel obligated to warn you not to purchase a benchmade until you have personally visually inspected the specimen. There have certainly been some quality control issues with benchmade knives and my 940 is still not perfectly centered even after sending it in for warranty service. That being said, my 940 is still my most carried knife in my collection because it is just so comfortable to carry!
Kevin Zheng I’ve owned a few benchmade sand and currently own a griptilian. I knew about the blade centering issue and that’s why I pick up in store and check for that :) Have the 940 in hand and so far happy with the purchase. Thanks for the info tho!
Kevin Zheng Yea,, I've bought 2 of them myself....The 1st one, the axis lock was so stiff, you couldn't pull the lock down to close the knife, 2nd one the blade centering was off! Really confused about their quality control! Griptillian blade has uneven grind also..."to boot!" Just sayin 😕
Its got the best lock: Axis and the best version of Axis! Seen it mentioned as a gentleman's knife. To me its got the hallmarks of modern folders: one hand opening, better lock, one large blade and pocket clip. It IS a big blade.
Wish they did a flipper without the assist I've always loved flippers but I still like the one handed close without having to get an otf 1950's greaser knife lol
The mini crooked river is an excellent EDC. Even though it's a branded "hunt" line knife, I wouldn't use it to skin or dress game... you could but it's a stylized EDC for sure; Ben was on the right track when he asked at 15:24, but the answer was deflected, I'm sure Hans couldn't give a straight "yes." The handle length and blade are perfect for daily tasks and even some food prep, but the Freek is better-suited work knife, and the bugout blade is super practical, but I have no desire to carry it because it lacks style in my opinion and the handle material brings in down in comparison. Great video guys.
My dad got issued a bench made when he was deployed (he didn’t need a kabar or a bayonet) and he had it for 15 years. The ocean took it when we were fluke fishing. It’s so old we forgot the knife model. Oh well.

I really like the casbah and how it looks and everything, but I hate the clip, seriously throw on a black mini deep carry or a black deep carry clip with the little butterfly, that would make the knife look 10x better.
I agree! Love my casbah but hate that they have an older “unique” clip, the 2 holes are so far apart that you can never use any other benchmade clip or even aftermarket “benchmade/spyderco” clips… sucks
I'm not a slip joint guy but I'm going to get my self a proper. classic shape with a modern twist and I feel like that's just a classy knife you can take out in the office or wedding and everyone will be like nice knife
I have the 940-1601 (cabelas edition). It has a d2 blade with a cherry wood/carbon fibre handle. It’s An amazing knife and I would definitely consider it my gentleman’s knife
