    Your videos are great. One thing to note that may help others is to remove the spark plugs when turning the motor by hand. It makes it much easier, especially for valve adjustment

      Yeah true. Sometimes I get ahead of myself and put plugs in when you didn't need them in yet. Thanks for watching!

    Great videos. The only suggestion I would like to add is to use sealer on the intake bolts. I would use a non hardening sealer such as Permatex #2 on the bolt threads

  • @ekitching

    With all the money you invested in aluminum heads and roller rockers, I would have gone with a roller cam. No break in worries, and more power.

    • @2carpros
      @2carpros  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hydraulic Roller or Solid? Thanks for watching!

    • @ekitching
      @ekitching 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@2carpros Most guys install hydraulic rollers if it is a street car. There are a few solid rollers, which make more rpm and more power, but there is a tradeoff, they are less reliable and you have to check them every so often. Pay close attention to compression and head flow when choosing a cam. Also, use good roller lifters like Crane or Morel. Gen 6 blocks are better for roller cams because the lifter bores are longer and more accurate to help keep the roller lifter in alignment.

  • @loganshotrod4x464
    @loganshotrod4x464 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Is there a way to run a solid flat tappet cam in a 454 & still get oil to the top end? I don’t want the cost of a roller cam & I don’t like hydraulic lifters

      Just measure them and make sure you get the same length everything and you will be good to go. Thanks for watching!

    great video. Is the exhaust and intake rockers the same ratio and what ration is best for this. I'm building an old 427. the block is from 70's and Dart II or AFR Aluminum heads

    • @2carpros

      You might run into valve seat issues on the exhaust side. But if they have been rebuilt in the last 40 years or so it will be fine. Thanks for watching!

    If I'm building a 496 from a 454 what cam would I use

    • @2carpros
      @2carpros  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The bootlegger camshaft I used in this would work for you. It depends how much lift and duration and overlap you want. Summit has a great page on it. help.summitracing.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4698/~/what-camshaft-should-i-buy%3F
      Thanks for watching and good luck with your build!

  • @davidbeutler7665
    @davidbeutler7665 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    So what is it that makes the different length rods. Is it the lobes on the cam, or it being a big block or is it the aluminum heads? Or the roller rockers

    • @2carpros
      @2carpros  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah if you want to get super technical you can change your pushrod length to adjust for lobe lift or if you have solid lifters or something like that. We didn't change too much so the stock length will be fine. Thanks for watching!

    What does the 1.7 refer to on the rockers ?

    • @2carpros

      For every unit of measurement on one side of the rocker it puts out 1.7x distance on the valve. Thanks for watching!

    • @2carpros
      @2carpros  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah I have to mention it due to everyone's OBSESSION with torque specs. TH-cam is wild with how many people talk about torque specs. Never talk about it in person, everyone talks about it here for some reason. Thanks for watching though! :)

    • @Blazer02LS
      @Blazer02LS 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    2 Question!! If you’re using roller rockers why not roller lifters? Expense or unnecessary? How long do you let the silicon set up on the ends before installing the manifold?

    • @2carpros
      @2carpros  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just unnecessary for the street build we are going for. I work as quick as I can, I don't want that silicone setting without the intake on. Thanks for watching David!
