"And as much as some people would like to boil Mondays, it's not possible" is such a fantastic line.
A certain orange cat approves.
@@Ett.Gammalt.Bergtroll Nekomimi Kiwawa
I don't remember what remember means.
I just clipped that part for some of my friends. It made me really chuckle
I got to that question in the video, thought to myself "God, I'd LOVE to boil Mondays", and Korone immediately broke the bad news to me right after.
Sasuga doggo knows her listeners too well...
Korone's ability to reference random pieces of media out of nowhere turns against her for once.
she is a huge pop culture nerd.
Dude, Korone is such a pop culture connoisseur, I always get surprised by how much she knows.
@@BeastOrGodmakes me wonder how old she is.
And it was Zoids, of all things. I'm old enough to have had an episode of Zoids on a Video Now, which is the only way I would ever get that reference 😂
@@seppukumouse8005 she is on the older side
" I am August " Korone is everything. XD
Korone is the first Roman emperor
Princeps Romani Korone
"I am BMW"
-Korone
Korone's laugh means the world to me 🌎
Same energy as Tom Scott's "I'm taking January off"
My favourite thing about Korone's English is her tendency to use "I'm" whenever she's unsure how to say something simple, resulting in the immortal "I'm die" and of course "I'm August"
don't forget "I'm Mercedes Benz" from one of the Mario Kart streams.
It comes from the structure of Japanese sentences. 私は, most commonly translated to "I'm" is so commonly used in those sentences, it probably became Korone's default go to phrase.
Also, you can omit and abbreviate parts of a Japanese sentence that can be inferred through context.
"I'm August" is probably "I'm (born in) August"
「私は8月(生まれ)」
"I'm Mercedes-benz" is probably "I'm(riding a)Mercedes-benz(car)"
「私は(メルセデス)ベンツ(に乗る/乗ってる)」Yes, you can even abbreviate the Mercedes out of Mercedes-benz.
"I'm die" is an honest grammatical mistake, incorrect verb tense used probably due to not being able to remember the correct tense in the moment. However, in Japanese there is no be-verb per se, so sentence structure doesn't change too much between I died, I will die, and I am dead. 私は死んだ、私は死ぬ、私は死んでいる。All sentences use 私は.
@@AnnaMorimotoWait what? You say that you can omit parts of a sentence and then don't omit the thing that usually is taken out. Rarely do people actually use the personal pronoun in Japanese unless actually speaking of themselves. And you should know quite well that there is a "to be" verb. Basically every language has it, as it tends to be the first thing that is created in a language. In Japanese, there are 2 するand ある. Which is conjugated into ですand ますand all of it's forms after that
@@DoxSteele Firstly, you're right about being able to omit personal pronouns in Japanese. You can indeed omit the subject and say something like 死ぬ!死ぬ死ぬ、死んじゃう!あー、死んだ。死んじゃった。死にましたよ、もう。Something like "gonna die, gonna die, gonna die! Oh. I'm dead. I died. I am deceased." All with that pronoun "私" omitted.
I'm guessing Korone didn't do that because of the way English textbooks are in Japan. Most English language textbooks in Japan are full of examplary model sentences beginning with "I'm", probably because it's a common thing beginner students forget to put in their sentences. Enough exposure to "I'm fine, thank-you", "I'm going to school." "I'm a student." etc. and students tend to pick up the habit of adding "I'm" to everything. Korone's English teacher did his/her job well and Korone was a good enough student in her English lessons that she remembered English does not omit "I" most of the time.
Secondly, you're absolutely right about the to-be verb. I totally forgot about ある, です, ます etc. The to-be verb isn't a separate word, but rather a suffix when you say 死ぬ 死んだ 死にます 死のう 死ぬかも 死ねば 死なんとする 死になさい etc. In the moment, the correct grammar probably didn't come to Korone's mind.
@@AnnaMorimoto Yeah, that pretty much clears it up. To be clear, I wasn't trying to be hostile, but just didn't want people to be misinformed, so I probably came off as such. Also, I'm not a beginner, but I appreciate you clarifying the pronoun point where I didn't. Thank you!
(Also also, have a good day lol)
To be fair, "trapezoid" is a word I would _never_ expect an ESL speaker to know.
True, it's not easy because there are no romance stems here. It's all Greek, meaning "table-shape"
Doubly so because it's specifically an American/Canadian term.
@@Shelleloch oh? what do the british call it?
@@jordanledoux197 Trapezium

Darn British and their crazy words.
It went from "shall we dance 🎉🎉" to "shall we finger cut 💀💀" pretty quick
*That escalated quickly.*
Fun fact: She meant pinky promise
Korone forgetting the meaning of forget is pretty hilarious in of itself.. 😂
Ultimate irony. She doesn't realize that she's doing exactly what she doesn't remember. Top tier doggo
The fact that she was able to make the "which one is not related to beds? Listeners" joke so quickly is pretty impressive. Sasuga multi-processing doggo. But I guess it helps that the most common way to refer to a bed in Japanese is with the loanword, beddo.
what's the joke between 'bed' and 'listeners'?
@@MerryFlo Listener is not allowed to sleep. Must stay awake. Must watch Korone. No sleeping. No bed. Only Korone.
Has more than one meaning lmfao
It’s actually why I was a little surprised she didn’t know “skirt” already
@@spiffersthegrand yeah i think that word initially is taught all over the world when people were in elementary school :))
Her logic on that last one is impeccable. I too relate things to Zoids.
I see the age-old trope of Anime using cool sounding English words has backfired on Korone. 😂
Who would have imagined that "kinoko" from the legendary English-only Mario stream would finally find a new successor in "trapezoid" today, lmao
I still remember Pee-peh for "Pipe."
I'm always so amazed at Korone's English level. Her reading comprehension and pronunciation are really good! I know she wanted to do this stream so she could try to collab with the new doggos, but I hope she collabs with EN and ID members more and more!
shes good at english. it's like.. roughly intermediate/medium level. we all know that from her english only Mario stream. she knows many English logic and vocabs.
and that's why it's okay to joking around for something like this XD. Korone obviously know the meaning of many words
she's totally come a very long way from just a few years ago, I hope she keeps improving so I can watch some collabs with her live and not solely rely on clip translators LMAO
Fuwamoco are fluent in Japanese so that's a moot point but I do hope Korone keeps working on her English, though part of me hopes she never masters it.
So true, as a non native speaker she is doing SO well at this stupid language of ours😂😂
The more she collabs, the better she'll get naturally, tbh. Like, they've basically proven "immersion" is the best way to learn a language, so you need to surround yourself with people who speak it and you'll naturally pick up on the meaning of words. At least normal conversational words. You probably won't be learning quantum mechanics terminology or anything lol.
I like how she was pronouncing it correctly until she listend to tts and started saying cha-pe-chuy 😂
We've hit the motherload of Koroneglish. What did we do to deserve such a gift?
This stream confirms what we've all known for a long time though: that her reading and comprehension are superb, probably among the best in the JP branch, but she just struggles sometimes with putting her thoughts into English, hence why we get Korone-isms like "I am August".
Also the absolute pressure of her "shall we finger cut?" is phenomenal.
I am august, is a correct sentence. August meaning venerable and wise.
@@CannabisDreamsIsn’t august pronounced differently, though?
@@gabrielegenota1480 not thay I'm aware of
@gabrielegenota1480 actually yeah, one sounds like august and one sounds like augest

@@Gaehhn And Sunday.
There are a lot of cognates in the sequence for Romance language speakers.

wow she really takes the "shall we" explanation instantly to heart and adopts it in perfect Korone fashion!
05:35 It's funny that she forget the meaning of 'forget' and remember the meaning of 'remember'
To her defense, cutting yubis does tend to lead to organs afterwards. 😂
Korone in those glasses speaking English is a blessing.
"i forget the meaning of forget"
korone is a genius, how can she make these puns so expertly but also say "I AM AUGUST"

Unfortunately, not. If it did I would make it sound all over the front line.

What is "Finger Cut"?
kid named cut:
@@cleverman383 Inside joke that she wants to eat peoples' fingers
@@cleverman383 Cut fingers. Her catchphrase is "yubi yubi", which means "fingers fingers". The lore she's built up around this is that she wants our fingers as tribute, and generally takes them by chopping them off. It's not clear what she does with them, but some of her behaviour suggests she eats them.
@@NoriMori1992 she's everyone's Finger Maiden, obviously.
To be fair, "trapezoid" is probably pretty high on the list of most complicated words I learned in elementary school
She did so well. That last question seems like a bit of a troll since Trapezoid isn't exactly a common word like the others. I've not used it since I was in Primary School.
It's also only barely correct because while geometry is part of math, trapezoids are usually exclusive to geometry and you'll barely see them in other math subjects
@@jtosety Yeah kinda seemed like a trap question they'd put in tests to keep the scores lower for averages.
Very troll. I don't think I've ever been taught the word trapezoid in any class, in all my 15 years of having studied English. As a German speaker it was obvious, we call it Trapez, but it's def not in the foreign language learning curriculum.
Seems like it was just a joke question because organ and skirt sounded the same in Japanese (I'm basing it off purely of the way she read the explannation the game gave at the end btw, I don't know if that's the most common way to refer to organ or skirt in Japanese)
@MrCh0o pretty sure both are loan words from English and are written in katakana, Japanese's "foreign word alphabet"
There isn't a Korone clip that didn't make me happy. This doog is just so sweet and positive I love her.
Can't blame her
Everyone trips over trapezoids
Korone having fun is all ways a blessing, thanks for the longer clip.
I'll never get tired of hearing the way Korone drags out the word 'guys' when she speaks, it gets me every time.
Organ can also be the organs that make up your body. She did really well though. Way better than I can do in anything but Spanish and my Spanish is rough rough after not using it for a while.
yeah I"m sure the quiz just went with that since that's the katakana one.

It was killing me, both organ and skirt are English loan words in Japanese.
“I forget what forget means.” 🗿
"I forget the meaning of 'forget'"
Truly magical.
59 out of 60 is still a solid A grade, so I think she did a great job.
Not going to lie, the part where she answered a question about "silent Ks" made me realize how odd &/or difficult my language must be for outsiders. I mean, why do we have silent letters? Why even use them in a word if we don't pronounce them? Small thoughts like this fascinate me.
I watched a great TH-cam video once upon a time (although I can't remember where anymore) that explained how a lot of silent letters were actually added after the English words had already existed without them for years. It was a way to show that we knew the words' origins in Greek or Latin.
The French: *sweating*
@@wheeledjustice7381 And off course, some words were just pronounce very differently back when their spelling became somewhat standardized.
English has SERIOUSLY messed up spelling. The Latin alphabet is "relatively" consistent amongst most other languages, while English pronounces letters totally different.
Like "A" is just "ah" in 99% of languages. Only in English does it also work as "'e" and "'ä". The basic vowels A/E/I/O/U are alost universal (plus some variants like "Ä") and even match exactly the Japanese あえいおう, yet in English they have basically turned into wildcards!
Spelling and pronounciation naturally shift apart over time, but other countries/languages tend to have organisations that will re-adjust the spelling of words to better match to how people pronounce them. German, Italian, and Japanese for example all have authorities that issue spelling reforms every few years to decades. But English has pretty much NEVER done that, and as a result has accustomed to weird spellings that have gone out of sync with the rest of Latin alphabet using countries since the middle ages...
English is three languages in a trenchcoat, who loves French loanwords as much as Japanese loves English words!
"I forget the meaning of [forget]" is probably one of the greatest things she's ever said
Well, she remembered the meaning of [remember] so maybe she was just trying to be consistent
"I am August" Welp time for another sentence to be made a quote do to everyone's oshi doggo.
Korone with the anime spiral glasses will never not be absolutely adorable.

Quiz: Organ means オルガン the huge piano that uses pipes
I like that one guy going "let her cook" at 6:34
7:04 I wonder how she would've handled this question if it was in British English? As 'Trapezoid' is the American word for 'Trapezium'
ah that explains why ive only ever heard it pronounced trap-E-zoid and not trap-eh-zoid as the translator said at the end
"Shall we finger cut?"
Bruh. 😂❤

It's been a really long time since I've been able to catch a Korone stream, and I was so excited for one where I'd get to understand what was going on and a lot of what she was saying. What a treat that stream was! I really thought she was going to get every question, I was shook when trapezoid tripped her at the finish line!
Korone is August, BMW, and Mercedes Benz? Now that's a talented Vtuber
Love your work as alway!
I happened to tune into the stream at the very end, and was confused by the "Trapezoid ending" that Korone made to conclude the stream. Now I know...
2:31 All hail Emperor Korone, ruler of Rome and all its lands beyond. SPQR
Another offering from jshay... I am replenished once more
Korone was right in another way, if "arithmetic" is the best translation here (and the first Japanese character looks right to me!) That word in English, if used by itself, means the study of counting or natural numbers, whole numbers. It has very little to do with trapezoids. Meanwhile, although I wouldn't even have guessed "organ" meant the musical instrument, that meaning has a closer connection to arithmetic. Whole numbers and counting are important to music. So, Doggo continues to be right about everything, and the game is wrong.
Well, I think "arithmetic" was the wrong choice of word to use for the question, it should have been "geometry" instead.
@@jaycee330 it probably translates to basic level math, or something.
You don't learn much geometry other than basic shape names in kindergarten, you learn mostly arithmetic.
So a translation for kindergarten level math learning could be "arithmetic".
Yeah. The question is rather dubious since if you don't work in a job that needs shapes you never use Trapezoid as a word.
The word can also mean just "math" in general. Translating it as "arithmetic" was misleading in this case.
@@jaycee330 No, it should have been "math", which is what the word means and what geometry is a subset of.
