Just a slight correction. New joycons bought separately from the system only have a 3 month warranty. The shortest time I’ve ever had a joycon drift is conveniently about 4.5 months. I’ve went through 3 sets in a about 2 years. (I’m currently on my fourth pair.) meaning joycons on average only last me 6 months.
I don’t know why they would have such a short warranty if they didn’t know they would constantly break.
Yes, this fact eluded me! It makes the situation even more absurd!
Also that 4th pair, it’s starting to drift too. :( I’m glad Nintendo is finally being forced to help, because I just don’t have the money..
Not only did Nintendo’s warranty expire, but Walmart’s warranty despite not expiring, refused to listen. So no, I’ve never been able to get Nintendo to help with any product and despite having every console and handheld since the GBC, I never felt like I needed them too. Sure my DS hinges broke after a while, but I’d already moved onto my DSlite, and eventually DSI.

A while ago I was on vacation with my extended family, and there was a little kid there who really took a liking to me because we both had switches and played BOTW. He asked for help when it came to beating a Hinox, and when he handed me the controls, I was baffled at what he had been working with this whole time: Max drift. A lot of my friends own switches with drifty cons, but this was unreal. It was literally as if someone was pushing the joy stick to the left as far as possible the entire time. He didn't seem to have an issue because he was too young to understand that controllers shouldn't work that way, but it made me a bit sad.

[ Oml ikr like my brother plays fortnite and one time he got so angry he threw the mouse at the computer and broke it and that same night I needed to print something for a school project but I couldn’t bc he broke it. More recently he slammed the desk so much there is like a dent in the wood and my parents don’t even care like FOR HIS BIRTHDAY THEY GOT HIM A GAMING COMPUTER ARE YOU KIDDING ME! In conclusion fortnite kids think they are good at games but in reality can’t even beat a Pokémon game farewell.

Just because people have it worse doesn't mean you can't get sad over other things.
Sure it sucks that a lot of kids can't afford gaming consoles but that makes it all the more heartbreaking when those who can afford them get a bad quality product.

Lucky I got a new Nintendo 3ds plus I transferred EVERYTHING from my 2ds and within 1 year it wouldn’t turn on.Ever. Again.Yay!
For the record, I got my switch at Christmas 2019 and I’m already experiencing drift less than 5 months later. Inexcusable in my eyes. There is no way that a 3 year-old piece of hardware should still be having major defects with no sign of revisions.
Emerson Fleming my brother got drift in a week, nintendo didn’t even fix the issue with the switch lite. I used to be a hardcore Nintendo fan, owned most of their consoles, many, many games and bought everything at launch, but the joycon drift is seriously an issue. A 3 year old console can’t fix a problem that many people have. The switch could probably be the best console out of ps4 and xbox, but with drift it’s put down. It has so much potential with the great games but that’s a big problem. Not gonna stop me from loving my switch ❤️

When my joycons began drifting, I didn't care that much cause I had a pro controller. Yesterday my pro controller began drifting too :(

Same. I've kept my Wii since launch a decade ago and have never had problems with any of the remotes or nunchucks _to this day._ My decades old Gamecube controller(s) still work almost perfectly. I didn't get a Switch until last December, and my Joy-cons started drifting 3 months later. I'm lucky it's only my right Joy-Con, but still, playing BOTW is a bitch when you're just trying to shoot an arrow and the camera just jolts up and down without warning whenever it very well pleases.

That happened to me and a friend we were playing smash on his switch and he gave me the left joy con, he won by doing absolutely nothing because the drift always make me commit suicide

Mine took about 2 years and then got a new set and then it took 1 year so I got a pro controller it doesn't have drift but when I hold forward it doesn't let me go forward

My Wii fell over about 1000 times in the last 14 years and it still worked like day 1
Wii suffers from problems with the Disc Drive because of the poor choice to not cover that area to prevent dust from getting in. GameCube Sold Fine, just it deserved to sell so much better than it did. Also Loli you're statement is obviously a lie as the Wii hasn't even been out for 13 years yet, even then there was a full year in which it was hard to get them.

Old Nunchuck: Shame
Ah, yes, the joycon that wiggles like a wiggler even though it's fresh, and the nunchuck that works like new (Aside from some stickiness due to attempting to 100% SMG and playing through SMG2 for about half of the game in stars) even though you have had it for most of your life, and the supposedly horrible Wii U Gamepad that you can still masterfully drift through MK8 with even though you've had it since you were 5.
My nunchuck does not work but only because the rubber on the cable is torn off

yeah, i had no idea why my nunchuck was acting weird years ago and now like a shitty old friend drifting is back
I remember my nunchucks would constantly drift when you first plug it in but you could immediately pull it out and plug it back in and it would start working normally.

Get contact cleaner and spray a bit into the small opening under the rubber part of the stick. Fixed my drift atleast for now and my drift was very bad.

I’ve been in many online conversations where Nintendo apologist just blindingly refuse to believe there is anything wrong with the way Nintendo is handling the issue, or if it’s not happened to them the problem doesn’t exist and we must be all lying.

I bought Hollow Knight for switch awhile back and loved it. But once my joy cons started drifting it was near impossible to play. I would love to get back into it but I'm not dropping 70 bucks for new controllers.

Man, i accidentally hit the horse whistle in the room just before the Koga encounter and lemme tell yea, my heart was pounding. By some miracle of Hylia, i was able to climb up on one of the tarps and just barely go unseen by the guard who came in. xD
The amount of times me and my sister have slammed our wiimotes into the ground is too many to count, yet they all work without a problem (except one has a broken strap)

@@roughousegaming9606 I even play using the Joycons when I'm in docked mode just because I like them more than the Pro Controller. I just prefer the button layout and placement of the D-pad better. It's kind of a tough pill to swallow that I need to send them in for repairs for a problem I had no hand in creating.

@@LashknifeTalon I feel you. When it first started happening to me last year (coincidentally, after the warranty was up) I stayed on the line with Nintendo of America for about an hour. They were going to do it for free for me, but I didn't have a printer, and I also thought it was silly to wait two weeks. In addition to the drift, my left Joycon ended up straight up just not working. It wouldnt even register in handheld mode when connected to the system and the little lights stopped lighting up. I ended up getting a replacement left Joycon, and both of my Joycons have it now. I just use my two pro controllers. :\

Not gonna lie, as much as I hate the drifting, it is pretty entertaining just to see how far he walks in a direction by himself.
It's even more entertaining to use the camera stick to control where he goes, cause he will always walk left, so you can use the camera stick to change where "left" is.
It's a good way to get a little fun out of a frustrating situation.

Buying a new controller because the ones that come with the system are cheap shouldn’t be mandatory. Also, pro controllers have drift too.

The dock is outright incompetently built. Yes, it scratches screens even now, yes it warps consoles even now, then there's the whole bricking crap.

This idea people have that Nintendo cares about them is so damaging. No massive company cares about their customers. People have played softball with Nintendo so the company thinks they can be lazy and cheap. Companies only seem to fix their attitude when customers revolt (happened with Sony during the cross-play thing) Yet Nintendo is still dragging their feet. They've yet to make official announcements about the repairs nor have their said they will redesign the joycons to be more durable.
They're driftin so bad, Fast and the Furious wants a contract.

I've had this problem before and I fixed it by swapping out the joystick for a new one I got off amazon. The whole process was pretty painless and tbh I don't see many people struggling with this method of repair with a quick little youtube video to guide them but I agree whole-heartedly that this shouldn't have to be something we have to go through at all.

It wpuld be nice to have a cheaper option without the more expensive features. That doesn't mean they should get rid of the more expensive joycons, but simply have an alternative.

Sometimes one of my joycons stops working, forcing me to watch as either my team rushes past me towards the objective or slap me in the face with an inkbrush while I hope it works again.
@@Milk_Toast Sometimes in the middle of battle my motion controls go all wack, and my motion has even stopped working all together a couple of times. Sometimes one of my joycons disconnects. At least I just got a new controller? Hopefully it doesn't end up having these problems.

My Wii controllers are still working, proof that the switch joy-cons are wack.
They had a problem in the nunchuck connection hole thing, they damage, i had to put tape on mines so they still work

I can speak for the ntr-001 DS (blocky trapezoid model) being made of Nintendium. Mine still runs flawlessly save for a few dead pixels on my touchscreen. Plus the battery still lasts me several hours (usually around 4-5). Buttons still work perfectly, speakers still work, it's incredible

*EDIT* Thanks for nearly 600 likes guys, didn't expect that. I'm actually sending my Left Joycon back to Nintendo for repair for free under warranty lol. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO THIS TOO AS IT IS FREE WITHIN 1 YEAR OF YOUR PURCHASE, But if you're not under warranty, it's still cheaper to get it repaired than buy a new one.

Happened to me in breath of the wild. I was fighting the talus on the cliff above the tanagar canyon, when link just decided to walk away from the bone crushing monster and leap off a cliff.
I was destructive when i had my 3ds i even threw it from the stairs many years ago and today my 3ds is still working my switch i treated like a king and my joy cons drift ;(
I got my Nintendo Switch in March 2019. I spent over 300 hours in Zelda Botw with no issues. Then in about February 2020 I started to experience problems with my joycons. The would automatically scroll, even with my hands off the device. I carried on playing until the issue started affecting Botw. The camera was spinning everywhere. At the time, I didn’t know about the 1 year warranty, so here I am, in April 2020 using my sisters joycons. Great video!

I have an original switch model. The negative joy-con that came with my switch experienced drift and had a clunky movement. After I got the switch I got a separate joy-con pack. Then both the negatives got drift. I watched a video on TH-cam that recommended to use isopropyl alcohol and a q-tip to clean the underside of your joy-con. This worked very good and all my drift was gone! ( however the negative joy-con that came with my switch originally still has clanky movement )

My original GC controller from 2003 still works somehow after dropping it over 50 times at least. Now that's quality.

my left joycon can't recharge so it's unuseable
I had 2 years of warranty so I send my entire switch back (because they asked to) so I lost my switch for a month.
When I got it back the joy con was still broken so I send it back again, that took 1.5 months.
Then when I got it back it still wasn't fixed. Now my warranty has expired.
My left joycon has all the problems

-drift

I was told shed replace them outside the warrany period, and im in europe
I actually had control stick drift on my gamecube back in the day.
Now, I was kinda a VIP customer at Nintendo (Nintendo Power member for 15 years, registered all my consoles and games, etc) so I can't base my experience as being standard.
But I called customer service asking if there was a way I could clean my controller because of this drift. After being put on hold for 2-3 minutes, I was told a new controller was being sent in and what color I wanted. No need to send back my faulty one.

It mainly happens to the Left Joycon, especially because it's the one used the walk while the Right is just the Camera
