    My takeaway is that I’d love a gen 3 raptor! Issues with one mm of stitching sticking out of the seat? Really? A feather on the body mistaken for a fit and finish issue?! You mentioned how refined the body paneling is on the ford compared to the gaps in the TRX body paneling. That’s an actual big deal, as opposed to the non-issues presented in this video. I’d take a raptor because of the overall refinement, the 37s, the upgraded rear suspension, the relatively sensible drivetrain, the relatively light weight, the performance, and the look and road presence. It looks a lot more unique to me than a TRX.

    • @epap1375
      @epap1375 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      & Then you drive the truck with the 700+ HP supercharged V8 and forget the rest of the background noise. The only body gap issue I’ve seen on my TRX is the hood which can be adjusted in 30 seconds. The raptors “upgraded” rear suspension is the same overall design Ram has been using for years and is obviously on the TRX also. IMO it would be silly to choose the Raptor over the TRX if they were around the same price. The Raptor R will be a different story and should take the crown back easily.

      The concept of the F150 Raptor is neat......definitely a niche 4WD truck with the narrowed focus for "high speed" off-road capability and longer A-arms for increased axle articulation / wheel travel compared to standard F150 and other Class One...Chevrolet, Dodge (Ram - Sheep - ha!) and GMC 1500 4WD trucks. I could see owning an F150 Raptor if I lived in, around or near a desert...Arizona, Kalifornia or Nevada.....otherwise, it just does not make much sense and therefore, not practical.
      IMO......the other MAJOR drawback is the twin turbo V6 engine. Granted, nice to have high HP with reduced weight, but that comes at a price.....less reliable, less durable and short on longevity. Way too much to maintain and service. Simply put, too many issues and problems with breakdowns and resulting in wasted time and repair costs.
      Moreover, Ford would be wise to build and offer naturally aspirated "push rod" V8 engines in the F150 Raptor; the F150 Tremor (6.5L)....and the new Bronco (5.7L). These engines would be smaller versions of the 7.3L Godzilla V8 found in the Super Duty trucks. For 4WD vehicles.....operating off-road.....there are several variables....gearing, tires, clearance, etc.....way more important than horsepower. I would trade the slightly higher HP of a twin turbo V6 any and every day for a N/A V8 for greatly increased reliability, durability and longevity.....and more money in the bank account to spend on other toys.
      Finally, IF I was in the market for a F150 Raptor, it would be a GEN 1......OR.....take a standard F150 Lariat, King Ranch or Platinum with a 5.0L V8 under the hood to --------------> Pax Power in Texas. Pax Power offers several options. 1. Build an F150 5.0L V8 with or without the OEM Raptor body parts. 2. Supercharger. 3. OEM Raptor suspension...OR...aftermarket ICON "Raptor Style" suspension. 4. OEM Raptor 9.75 inch rear axle assembly. It would be FUN to have a standard looking F150 that could out perform.....run circles around an OEM F150 Raptor both on pavement and off-road. Pax Power ------------------>
      WITHOUT RAPTOR BODY PARTS ------------> www.paxpower.com/f150/
      WITH RAPTOR BODY PARTS -------------------> www.paxpower.com/raptor/

      @@epap1375 Unless you actually want to go off road. Its a nose diver. You cant drive a TRX any faster than a Raptor off road. May as well buy a challenger. Honestly, you would have to petty "smart" to buy a 100K truck for any reason. I could take a stock truck and make it perform better than either truck for 1/2 the price. Some folks have more dollars than sense. OOOOOohhhhh - it might not have a 12" screen, but I drive trucks, not watch movies in them.

      @@kenanderson2216 That makes no sense. I could build a Camaro that will destroy any exotic car in a drag race so should everyone just buy Camaros? There’s more to car than a single metric and if you don’t get that you’re not as “smart” as you think you are. The TRX can off road, rip in a straight line, is comfortable on the road, has a beautiful modern interior, has curb appeal, factory warranty, etc etc. Enjoy your chopped 150

      @@epap1375 Just like I said. You FIAT guys are so touchy. I dont drive little 1/2 ton trucks those are for girls. And actually you could NOT build a CAMARO faster than any EXOTIC CAR. Even though everything you said is valid, if you look for issues you will find them in every brand truck, especially because of everything going on with production because of covid. I think your biggest issue was getting the 37 package and not realizing that it would be nothing but downside for the truck, especially if you don't need it.

    As far as the remote start that's not just a Ford thing, my Ram, the GMC I traded and my wife's Chevy do that sometimes. It has to do with electronic interference of the signal from the fob to the truck. I live near and work on a military airbase so depending on what they're doing, my remote start wont work if I'm 10 feet from the vehicle. It's not a complex signal and is easily interfered with from outside sources.

    You'd have to Google but I have seen people commenting that while Ford is claiming same figures, they did retune it to have a bit different characteristics and further, the Gen 3's are dynoing quite a bit higher than the Gen 2's. So ford may claim the same but in fact it is different as it seems like most manufacturers are understating these days in the turbo era. Butt dyno/impressions are obviously important, though. But optioning 37s you're going to have to realize it is going to negatively effect it.

    I have a 2019 Raptor and the remote start issues are far and few between for me. One thing I like with the remote start system is the feedback the remote gives back to you in real time. If you remote start is successful, the led light on the remote will flash solid green for about a second or 2 to let you know the truck is started. If the remote start is unsuccessful, the remote led will flash solid red for about a sec or 2. Easy peasy to tell whether it's started. I've never had to "try" more than twice to get a successful remote start, and a second try situation happens only about 1 in 20 starts.
    I will say, I agree with you on the rehash of the GEN 2 Eco-Boost motor being a pretty big disappointment. This engine is easily capable of 600hp with just a tune, so why a more modest tune of 500-525 HP wasn't done is beyond me. In their defense, 450 is still pretty good, and keeping the fuel economy of 15-16mpg at that power is still pretty impressive. I would imagine a tune would have dipped those numbers to 12-13 mpg, but it would be nice to have a HP bump depending on the mode your in and keep the normal drive mode the base eco setting.

    Ben.. How is the handling? Does the truck feel planted? I ask as i own an M3 and thinking bout buying a Raptor next year. i rented a ford expedition over the thanksgiving break...and the handling was squirrely..I did not like it.. Of course, the raptor handles differently than an expedition...but i am wondering if the raptor is "similar" to an M3 (someone jokingly said a raptor is a. M3 w a lift @ 4 years ago on some forum.. Lol). I have never been in a raptor...and dont know anyone who owns one either. Curious... Thx

    I bought it and I like it more then my trx it just feels smoother just overall good to drive. I’m not saying that there are no bad things about the raptor, there is definitely some bad things I don’t like but it’s just a fun and joyful truck to drive. Btw who else knew there is going to be a raptor gen r that everyone is talking about? 750 horsepower. Hope they bring that gonna sell my trx for that thing.

      Nice man. I think people forget that everyone enjoys something different. Car guys are the absolute worst. If you don’t like what they like, they will just shit all over it. Also Porsche is a good example of a car that doesn’t focus on power exclusively. Sometimes balance is better than power.

    Having owned a 2nd gen, and now a 3rd gen for 2 months (35"), I have not experienced any of the actual issues you mentioned. As far as the personal hates you mentioned, well...it's personal perception, and wish you would have kept all 5 hates to actual defects (if you will) specific to the truck itself, guess you can't come up with more than 2 or 3. The 3rd gen is leaps and bounds better than any previous gen. The ONLY thing, so far, that needs improved is the android auto connection.
    Anxious to see your "reasons to love" the new gen 3.

    • @hellkitty1014
      @hellkitty1014 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well two of the hates was about the Raptor R and they were very valid. The Raptor R MIGHT only have a 1yr production run due to emissions mandate of 2025, which is the reason Chrysler has already said the amazing Hellcat will cease production. That means that truck will be virtually off limits for the avg consumer because the MSRP will be likely ^$90k+...in addition to the eventual astronomical markups.

    • @mdw5157
      @mdw5157 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hellkitty1014 valid vs perception is key. Current hp and torque, even though the same, is an improvement from my 2017 for sure! If you're hell bent on the v8 trx...good for you! (It's the ONLY thing the trx has on the Raptor, for now 😃)

    Had 2017 Roush Supercharged F150 and now 2019 Roush Raptor and never had problem on either with remote start. Maybe you clicking it to fast 🤣 When it comes to B&O sound systems dont think for a minute you getting top of the line B&O. You getting bottom line paper cone speakers which just dont keep up as good with all the sounds as higher material speakers. Also no sound proofing inside door panels at all. Thats why all static noises etc. According to independent Dyno Testing Gen3 Raptor engine even that its same 3.5L Ecoboost as Gen2 its more refined. Test proven more wheel horsepower then Gen2 was putting on the dyno.
