@@cocobaby0806 honestly I think its really not just about creativity. I think it's probably a true tests of a chefs ability more than anything else. I mean other wise, if you wanna judge a chef by a few dish they cook that is the baste testing, might as well have them all cook the best dish they think they could possibly prepare, and judge it and pick the winner. The whole point of competition is to judge beyond just one dish they've refined but how they are under pressure, with unexpected challenges etc, and to overcome that and consistently produce good despite all that, simply by tackling them with knowledge, skill and experience. The infinite hell challenge could really be the whole premise of the show and it would've been a better show. It eliminates that possibility, of some cooks maybe cooking something safer, something they've done, something they've refined, which essentially just means extra prep and think time, because you've made all the thinking and refinement outside of the time limit. They could do the challenge for even 40 contestants too by having them eliminate maybe 5 per round, although I'm not entirely sure if the judge can take that much tasting , but you get the idea. I've seen many Korean cooking competition shows and loved Culinary Class Wars, and much of it because of the presence of Chef Ed Lee. As a Korean-American, I actually had really critical view of many 1.5 and 2nd gen Korean American chefs. I often feel they don't quite have a grasp of Korean ingredients and cooking, and they get pass in America because the Americans will just believe and trust whoever comes first to plant themselves as the authority in this realm. When I actually eat their food or try the recipe, I'm severely disappointed because I know what these things taste like when they are used properly. For Chef Ed to go toe-to-toe with Korean chefs and be recognized by all of them, especially in his mastery with the ingredients, is a very impressive feat. Partly because Korean people are brutally critical. A cooking competition show shouldn't make you cry, but he really touched so many with his earnest words and cooking. He didn't have to prove himself to anyone in Korea, but he chose to spend so much time and put his career and honor on the line to do it. It didn't even matter to me who won at the end, because I never felt so represented in media as a Korean-American. I'm so happy for Chef Edward, as it seems obvious the Korean public loved him and his cooking on the show.
Yes lots of Korean American descendants lack respect to the real Korean food and lack understanding of the history or context. Lots of them only know Korea through their parents who left Korea when Korea was not the same country as it now is, or kpop or k drama. At the same time they have superiority complex as “Americans” towards Korean Koreans like they know better. Edward lee on the other hand really showed genuine respect and understanding which impressed so many Koreans.
Edward Lee is so inspiring that after he has been cooking professionally for 30 years, he can still think out of the box and be this creative. Respect.
Chef Lee, after finishing the show, i am so impressed by your willingness to try a new thing even now after 30 years of work experiences in culinary. I also learned from you what type of person I want to be when I am in your age. So much respect to you.
Edward Lee is really a true master, generally speaking I am not interested in Korean food, but after watching his cooking, I was deeply moved and I hope to taste his cooking one day.
That was a great comment. I remember reading that. His whole comment was great. I wish I could find it again. I read it going through dozens of Edward Lee videos….
Chef Edward Lee deserved the utmost admiration for his creativity and passion for Korean food. Regardless of the stressful competition, he really enjoyed taking risks to express the flavour of food. He won my heart :)
Every dish Edward Lee creates tells a unique story that no one else can create. It touches my heart every time. Whenever he rings the bell after cooking, I’m always amazed by his creativity. Edward Lee, you’re the best chef!
You’re the champion in my heart. Chef Edward Lee. The way you cooked & creative ideas for Tofu was incredible. I even tears up when I saw the show. You are amazed and talented at cooking.
Sadly this is not a show just about creativity. You should have seen how many leftovers his team made at the restaurant challenge. I respect his willingness to try though but if in a competition you choose to challenge you don’t win, that was his choice and we don’t need to take pity of him
I am Moroccan living in France and i say Chef Edward Lee is a genius and he is another level and i will be visiting he is restaurant someday. He deserved to win because his final dish was clean elegant and perfect matvia made a dish with soo many stuff in it pasta meat three sauces he just put soo many things it was a rwina as we say in moroccan
Chef Edward Lee is the real winner of this competition in my own opinion… to eat in one of his restaurants will be my bucket list!…. He is genius of what he does!
I’m in Louisville Ky and I’ve been to Edward Lee’s restaurant about 3 times. Each time different and great. Now I’m planning to go to his Korean Steak Restaurant in Louisville. I can’t wait. My questions are: Did Ed get to taste anyone’s else dishes on the show? Was there anyone on the show that he wanted to keep in touch with? Was there any ingredients (his or some else’s) that he was surprised about… like dehydrated radish greens?
Who can make diverse tofu cuisine like him? I guarantee nobody can do it. You know, tofu is basically Asian Ingredient, I astonishingly surprised that how he cooked and how well he understood this ingredient even though his background is based on America. He derserves to win this contest. In fact, most of Koreans tend to say Edward is the true winner. His dishes, his story, his cooking technique is absolutely impeccable.... It inspired me a lot. Especially, I was impressed that he used cooking to show his identity.
Ed Lee rocks. He should’ve won. And now that he is doing Shia for sustainability. Who is this guy!!!! Can’t wait to go to this new restaurant. Hopefully he serves something with gochujang caramel.

Chef Edward Lee is on another level. All dishes made by those chef ofcourse delicious but Chef Edward Lee's creative ideas for the dishes made me amazed. He is genius.
Edward was able to win the show with his cooking skills. However, instead of winning easily by making the dishes he was good at, he took on new challenges at each stage, made new attempts, and created dishes that expressed his special identity encompassing the United States and Korea. It's difficult to make such experimental dishes and still make them taste good. It was like watching a Jedi Master. A Jedi Master whose purpose is self-training rather than winning! ! And he's got second place amongst 100 chefs!
Honestly, I think Edward Lee deserved to win the final. He created so many dishes in this round with such immense creativity. He is humble and sincere, you can hear from his speech in the final round. While I think Napoli Matfia is talented but very cocky to start with. I think all the finalists should go thru the same hell in order to advance to the next round. The end of the show was just anti climax, tofu hell should be the finale. Way to go Iron Chef Edward Lee, u r still the winner 🎉🎉
you took all the words out of my mouth but more eloquently. thank you. YES Mr Mafioso should have been part of the challenge. he would have been eliminated by 4th challenge... i am super sure.
Jetlagged, language barrier and fucking tofu hell. Still being wholesome and touches everyone's hearts with his story and the richness of creativity behind every dish.
I MUST eat at Chef Lee and Triple Star's restaurants. You are the pride of America. My God, i love your passion, your talent, and your unbelievable creativity. Even with all this handicaps, you showed this level, with only Korean oriented dishes. I can only imagine what your Southern cooking is like Just listening about what you're attempting with Shia, you can quite literally change the whole industry. AMAZING idea to open source the research. Your cooking is next level, but your personality is quite possibly even better, it even peeked out a bit on the show even though you were uncomfortable with your Korean.
Thank you for showing such a great and wonderful match in such a disadvantageous environment compared to other challengers. In my heart, you are the true winner.
Lee Kyun should have won the contest! He brought ingenuity, creativity and finesse to his dishes. Every trained chef can cook a rack of lamb but not everyone would have thought of making a dish like Lee Kyun served as his final dish.
Chef Edward Lee was so amazing in the show... His dishes are jaw-dropping to see! Beyond that, his resilience makes him so powerful and inspiring to me. I'm sure every single person involved is greatful that he agreed to participate.
Enjoyed listening to this conversation. I’ve seen almost all episodes on Netflix led by David Chang. There’s nothing both of you to be embarrassed about not speaking Korean in Korea (if you have chance to come). Everybody will understand how hard to catch the language. & Chef Edward Lee! All my family is now big fans of you. & hope you open a restaurant in Korea….Or if we have any chance to go over US, your restaurant is number 1 place to be in. You see! My English skills (born in same year as Chef Lee) is not perfect but I’m not getting humiliated using broken one. So keep exposed. THANK YOU Chef Edward Lee for bringing us the wonderful experience seeing your cooking. Thank you all showing us this conversation

Amazing! What a respectable and reasonable chef Edward Lee is! Thank you for your challenge and efforts toward sustainability in the restaurant industry. It's not easy, but if these efforts continue, the results will definitely be good. I think that if we can meet people's diverse and trendy expectations for food by considering the use of cutting-edge technologies such as big data and AI, we will be able to design a more effective and sustainable business model.

창의적이고 아름답고 깊은 감동을 주는 떡볶이 디저트를 누가 이길 수 있을까요.
에드워드리는 인생을 통달한 예술가 철학가 같습니다. 너무 멋지고 존경스럽습니다.
Great episode! Happy to see Chef Edward Lee and hearing about his new restaurant.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Mr Edward Lee totally gets my vote if I can vote and total respect to him
Chef Edward Lee is on another level. All dishes made by those chef ofcourse delicious but Chef Edward Lee's creative ideas for the dishes made me amazed. He is genius.
The true winner of Culinary Class War ❤🎉😊 Edward Lee huge respect for you ❤
Edward was able to win the show with his cooking skills.
I can only imagine what your Southern cooking is like
Just listening about what you're attempting with Shia, you can quite literally change the whole industry. AMAZING idea to open source the research.
Your cooking is next level, but your personality is quite possibly even better, it even peeked out a bit on the show even though you were uncomfortable with your Korean.
ED Lee you're the winner for me ❤ You're the creative & amazing artist not even chef. You were AMAZING 🎉
edward, you are the most be loved man in korea right now. everyone fuckin loves you!!
I teach English to Korean university students. A large chunk of them loved 흑백요리사 and Chef Edward Lee was the most popular favorite.
Love Chef Edward Lee and hope he returns to Korea and gives us more shows. Now I really want to see David Chang in the next Culinary class wars!!!!
🎉yes!
We're rooting for you, Ed Lee!! 화이팅!!
Enjoyed listening to this conversation. I’ve seen almost all episodes on Netflix led by David Chang. There’s nothing both of you to be embarrassed about
not speaking Korean in Korea (if you have chance to come).
It was the fight between the white spoon chef Edward and the black spoon chef Gyun and it was the win of chef Gyun Lee. I was truly astonished by his personality, profession and especially sustainable vision!
Mr. Edward LEE is really a soulful man, how he thinks, how he speaks his mind about all things are so so mindful to listen. Thank you, Chef!
Edward Lee is my favorite chef from the show. I also love how they share their experiences growing up as an Asian American. I often feel the same way. Thanks for the fun conversation! Loved watching this video. ❤
Ched Edward Lee is such a genius!just so love how he turned his dishes to culinary storytelling...
(Netflix should think about making a movie out of Chef Edward's journey 😉)
You've been getting so much support and hats-off from Korean people, Ed! I was totally in awe of your creativity, persistence to stick to your principles, amazing levels of humbleness, efforts and care, and respect to fellow cooks... So inspirational! Hope to see you more in Korean shows - nowadays technology makes communications easier without physically crossing oceans, so hopefully we'll be able to see you soon again. You were the winner to me!
Gutted that Chef Lee didn't take home the title. He's inspirational!!!!!
Chef Edward lee is a fucking g, this man's creativity is out of this world.
무.. 물코기 셰프님❤❤❤

Our whole family was rooting for you chef lee! You were absolutely amazing 👏 not just with cooking but you showed class. We’d love to visit your restaurant if we are ever in Kentucky 🥹
Chef Edward Lee is so calm and collected. I wish him more success and happiness!!
Lee kyun is the my true winner in my heart forever. I loved either his humble and thoughtful gesture and his powerful and touching story in every episode.😊❤ He
True champion is Kyun Lee🎉🎉🎉 I got emotional for the leftover tteokbokki😢
Edward Lee is the real winner!!
I am really happy to know about Lee Kyun's story. Lee Kyun is the real main character in this show.
Bravo Edward Lee 👏
Thank you for your new project❤❤❤❤❤
I hope lots of restaurants will follow your new project .
❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you Chef Edward, you truly made the show very special!
Wow a non profit restaurant reducing plastic waste? Edward you will always be amazing . I would visit Shia!
創意力和執行力真的是頂級,每道菜式成品都超乎想像,可惜沒辦法嚐一口😂
Edward should have won the whole show. His tofu performance was world class
I watched 'Chef Edward's Story' and I admire him. I love his philosophy. ❤
한국에선 진정한 우승자가 에드워드리라고 생각합니다😂😂🎉 에드워드리가 1등보다 더 인기있음
Thanks for the interview with Korean American Hero at Chef Class War! 😂I laughed a lot with you guys! Thanks again! Cheers with Bourbon 🥃! 😂 Paul SH OH from Seoul Korea.
I would recommend David Chang to be the judge for season 2. It would be so much fun
Chef Edward Lee should definitely have won! It’s a shame they had only those two judges
Fiavod please tell Netflix we need more of Edward lee
just finished the show. Chef Lee should’ve done his signature dish!!!!!
This is the first time I've learned that cooking is in the realm of art. Edward Lee has enlightened me. We must put the modifier "artistic" in front of his chef title.
Cooking is cooking. Everything can be art
@@rhnkdhjkg My English expression was wrong. I should have written "can be", not "is".
@@jykim3860 Hmm so is it applicable to all IS here?
Chef Lee is the winner 🏆 in my heart ♥️ from 🇬🇧
Love this guy's humility and creativity. My favorite contestant by far!
