Netflix tanked the semifinals by making it more interesting than the final challenge - which was just to make 1 measly dish.
So much hype for semifinals and made us all root for Chef Edward Lee and then came down to naught 😅😅
Netflix should learn from proper cooking survival shows. Heck, they could even learn Even Hell’s Kitchen which is on Netflix. It has an impressive final challenge where they had to run a restaurant.

I had one complaint. During the team mission where they opened their restaurant. They didn't have to do the ''outcast'' team dirty like that. Yea it gave somewhat of an entertainment value as they created an underdog, but it still left a sour taste in my mouth.

Let's be honest and real it's not the best cooking show , I personally have seen so many cooking show and it has some downs and some unfair points , starting from the early face off between the white and black spoon that I found it too early and most of the results were like obvious so many talented black spoon chefs didn't had the chance to showcase their talent, 2nd as the previous person said the restaurant team challenge had a huge disadvantage for the 4th team which was not fair for them , finally the last match wasn't that wow it's the final after all but they've had one match , compared to the semi final which was more intense and a big remarque that I found in some levels they had to eliminate huge number of contestants just to have less episodes I guess which found it brutal specially the semi final I think they've at least made 4 and after 2and the finals

@@vahnseymour150 Honestly you have to realize Chef Edward Lee's main priority wasn't to win, but to bring out his korean heritage. So the teokbokki dessert he made, while hits all of that, if we objectively look at it on the flawless italian "appetiser + entree" combo. The italian dish would've won.
No doubt if Chef Edward wanted to "win" him chosing a winning dish would be absolutely no problem at all, but that is not his intention and I think we need to respect that. Yes, the teokbokki dish is creative and has good storytelling, but if you say that immediately deserves to win over a flawless dish that matfia took 10+ years to master, then you are not being fair to cooking as an art.

It was a slight miscalculation on Chef Edward’s part 😢 just like Chef Choi’s oversight with the garlic and tofu challenge.
Maybe Chef Edward got the inspiration from his dessert tofu creme brule that won the tofu semifinal round. But the setting was different. It’s now 1 dish vs 1 dish for the final and not the last dish unlike the semi finals.

To be fair, he really is known for public-friendly palate and recipe, so I would be worried too if I'd been in Triple Star's shoes. Baek received the same suspicion of not knowing much about fine dining like 8 years ago because he was more known for his comfort dishes. Yet Baek proved himself to the public time and time again throughout the years that he knows his fine dining dishes. That is why Koreans were calling out Triple Star that he was disrespecting Baek when Baek proved for many years that he knew a lot about fine dining. Why describe someone in a bad light when you barely even know him? If you don't know much about someone, be careful what you say about that person.

Like Chef Choi mentioned, the strategy he took this time is not something that can be done realistically. The anime Food Wars played similar challenges (hotel breakfast buffet exam, food festival) with much better thought-out mechanics.

You guys don't realize that the dishes he worked were so perfect that he advances to next round scoring so high so easily beating like 7 people dishes easily. Chef ahn gave him 90 or 9 point to his dishes that he didn't gave scores like that to anyone else even the white spoon chef. He said that his dishes were excellent and at level of the dishes he makes himself. So, you can imagine the food he prepare must taste so so good. Even you might choose him as the true winner that he is, if you tasted his food.

It seems both unfair and unusual that a foreigner, regardless of their Korean heritage, who does not live in Korea, cannot win-in other words, would not win.
