It didn't. The fruit in the hat is wrong again. I was in high school when it dropped, and it was spoken about just as much as any other fighter at the time. EX3 sold more than double as well as EX2, outsold X-men vs Street Fighter by over a facter of 2x as well, sold about as well as Street Fighter Alpha 3, etc. He's just wrong.
@@registereduser bro, you a real one. i hate when people try to gatekeep gaming. there are tons of games made, not all will apply to everyone. if a person enjoys bluey, and another enjoys bomberman, enjoy away
I agree . 3 was peak! I loved this waaaaaaay more than traditional street fighter even as a kid. Especially the characters. Would love it if we could have these characters be permanent main stays even if they are in the ex layer games that I think are a bit janky if I’m being honest
I still remember this was the first game I got at the PS2 launch along with Tekken tag . Standing in line overnight meeting new friends . No smartphone no social media. It was the best day I my life living in the pure moment .
The biggest reason why SFEX3 wasn't popular: • It's as lacking in content, cutscenes, single-player modes, and features as the vanilla version of SFV. • What made it worse is that only one newcomers made it into the roster, which was Ace, but all they were is just replacements to the Cycloids. • All Capcom & ARIKA needed to do to fix the game, was to make a *Street Fighter EX3 Plus.*
EX series was amazing. Skullomania is a hero. I had EX+ Alpha and EX 3. V. Rosso face stomp super is my favorite super in any game. Also, the sound track was amazing.
Man I used to play this game all day and night on my PlayStation 2. I think "Street Fighter EX3" was a decent polygon fighting game. It's a shame Akira Nishiyama cut ties with ARIKA.. otherwise we could have gotten a new STREET FIGHTER EX for the new generation of consoles 👍
I like SFEX one and two for the PSOne, it had a lot going for it, with its lore, new characters and gameplay mechanics. And I'll admit SFEX 3 was my least favorite I still liked it, like a guilty pleasure. But my unpopular opinion it wasn't bad enough to kill the franchise. what almost killed the franchise was crossed over games. people wanted more capcom crossovers than the original SF. if any game was to blame for street fighters demised its Street fighter X Tekken.
Tekken Tag Tournament is what buried this game. Both were PS2 U.S. launch titles and Tag was even improved over it's Japanese PS2 release with much needed character smoothing 😎👍
Sounds like as long as I like it it’s the worst but yeah I’m about my SF EX still! They just want money also complaining all over the internet for hours Jesus Christ thank budda
One of my fav games, could do so much and tbh was very overlooked at the time i felt. When they came back with fighting layer ex i was a hyped but i dunno to me it was missing a lot of what i liked about the ex series
Also Ace should’ve had his own moves and story as a new character and we should’ve got Blair and Allen to come back along with Boxer Rose Guy and Gen Blair and Allen should’ve been in EX2 but that’s a whole other issue Despite the flaws, these games are better than street fighter 3 and all of the characters are better than rufus hakan aki and fang and marisa.. C viper and even juri come off as desperate rip offs of Sharon
Sorry but street fighter 4 is way better then street fighter ex 3 that’s on PS2 and so is street fighter 3 I own all the street fighter games still today street fighter 4 is better then the street fighter 5 and 6 capcom isn’t doing as well they did in 2009
Would play this forever with the homies. The trials were so rough. But taught me way more tactics. 4player tag was always a treat if we have enough peeps. Music has been engrained in my head and was a trip in 2016 to find out Maximillian DOOd playing the OST sometimes on his streams.
The team element didn't impress me. The lack of endings kept me playing the game with all the characters. I beat the game a couple of times and I was done.
Capcom Fighting Evolution was explicitly the game whose failure drove Capcom to sit down and genuinely reevaluate what they were doing in the genre. A pity that said reevaluation brought with it an apparent crippling fear of their fighting games cannibalizing each other.
It played like tekken, except everyone had common moves like Mortal Kombat and each character had a very limited number of special moves. This was horribly inferior to Tekken itself.
The SF EX games are really cool. I wish they make a SF EX4. As for the game that killed the Street Fighter franchise, it was actually SF3 Third Strike.
Man the good ol times of street fighter EX. I remember the arcade days with street fighter ex plus alpha. The voice of the announcer, the tone of sound the character makes, the music oh man the freaking music, all of them were fire. Character selection was pretty awesome too. I eventually got EX1 on the PS1. It sucks that EX3 didn't do so well. I myself enjoyed the heck out of it.
This game was great and underrated. If it was not for the fact that it was on the PS2 where network play was not as easy to set up as it was on the PS3, and the emulation for it only just caught up, it would have received more attention. Upload it to Steam or the PS Network today and see what happens. If they can do that to SvC Chaos, they can do it with this and make a bit of a coin!
It definitely has not aged well with those early polygons, but at the time ES3 was one of my favorite fighting games. I really liked Hakuto. Has she ever been in any other of the series?
I remember seeing Tekken Tag showcased before the release of the PS2 and it just looked WAY better than EX3. I never even considered playing EX 3 because it looked so lackluster vs the much more impressive competition. Tekken Tag 1 had SUCH a good game design and graphics it honestly beat the graphics of several Tekken sequels with its style and design 😵💫 If you compare the games in 4K on emulator. Tekken tag still looks better in almost all ways. So I’d assume the regular consumer saw it the same way. The visual impression of some games just left all competitors in the dirt completely
sometimes i think I'm the only person who enjoyed the ex series, had a blast and enjoyed quite a few of the characters, shame they didnt pop up in the newer games
Did Street Fighter EX3 have a multiplayer versus mode or did it not have a multiplayer versus mode? If SFEX3 didn't have a multiplayer versus mode, then it must have been rushed. I don't like rushed video games.
My favorite sf ever I stop playing sf after ex3 I used to brag to my friends that I had ex3 back home I remembered my friend jack borrowing my ex3 for DBZ Budokai what a time.
I just never cared too much for 3D Fighting games. It's not like there aren't good 3D fighters like Tekken, Soul Cabalur. Virtua Fighter, Rival Schools. The major issue I have is 3D tends to age quicker than 2D and half 3D.
My only criticism is that there are no new characters, they’re all from EX1 and EX2. Besides that it was pretty damn fun. Better than the half made games now.
The ex Series I think are underrated. I love street fighter 3rd strike, but it only really appeals to more hardcore players and not casual players. Fighters in this period started to decline really.
On a personal level, I just didn't have a big interest in 3D SF even though I liked EX1 and 2. I'd play them but it just wasn't as fun as the 2D stuff. Multiplayer was very fun with friends though. Have to say though that EX's character illustrations are still excellent. Used to decorate my school books with magazine cutouts!
Wish id known about this game as a kid I know I would’ve had a blast with it. I had EX plus alpha growing up so for me that was the only ex game because I never saw 2 or 3 in stores
I would argue no. I love pixel games, but technically those are more stiff by how they are animated. Polygons at least actually move in their environment.
There certainly isn't as much nostalgia for the Capcom 3d Fighter properties is there? I still fondly remember Rival Schools and Star Gladiator, but there doesn't seem to be a Capcom 3d Fighter collection on the horizon.
The Street Fighter name was strong, but what it really means is Street Fighter 2 was strong. Alpha, 3, and EX didn't get the love they deserved at launch.
I did not know the SF EX3 got so much hate. I absolutely LOVED that game, and the fact you could link super combos on the fly was a dream!
EX series was fire, change my mind
Nope, if that’s your jam, I’m not hating.
@@registereduser bro, you a real one. i hate when people try to gatekeep gaming. there are tons of games made, not all will apply to everyone. if a person enjoys bluey, and another enjoys bomberman, enjoy away
I enjoyed the EX series. I was upset Akuma wasn't in EX3. I loved DD's story!
We can change your vocabulary from saying " fire" certainly.....just looks bad
I agree .
It was the best day I my life living in the pure moment .
yes, the glorious days of when you have to go outdoors!
That Ryu vs Ken intro was the height of Street Fighter visual fidelity... and still is. 😢
EX3 was my absolute favorite fighting game growing up. Ryu and Garuda on the same team was epic!
I loved it too, played a LOT
d. dark is my fave
Loved EX3 only complaint is that the main game was so short and done so fast.
skullmania, Kiari and Hotuko, the series had some of best characters.
The biggest reason why SFEX3 wasn't popular:
• It's as lacking in content, cutscenes, single-player modes, and features as the vanilla version of SFV.
• What made it worse is that only one newcomers made it into the roster, which was Ace, but all they were is just replacements to the Cycloids.
• All Capcom & ARIKA needed to do to fix the game, was to make a *Street Fighter EX3 Plus.*
The EX series had one of the hardest soundtracks in fighting game history
This was one of the games i bought when i went to pick up my PS2 pre order cx
EX series was amazing. Skullomania is a hero. I had EX+ Alpha and EX 3. V. Rosso face stomp super is my favorite super in any game. Also, the sound track was amazing.
That thumbnail alone got me watching this video. Great job haha
Why are people blaming this game for a Sf3 Third Strike Problem with how that Game removed almost all Sf2 Characters?
Man I used to play this game all day and night on my PlayStation 2. I think "Street Fighter EX3" was a decent polygon fighting game. It's a shame Akira Nishiyama cut ties with ARIKA.. otherwise we could have gotten a new STREET FIGHTER EX for the new generation of consoles 👍
I had this game for my PS2. Loved it! Would love to see a new EX and or Alpha Street Fighter game or some of the characters to appear in SF6
Who drew the thumbnail, love it😂😂😂
That advert segue was smooth like butter 🤣😊 great game though!
I had SO many amazing memories with this game. Its legit one of my faves idk why its so hated.
Yeah as far as 3D tag games, there was also DOA2 Hardcore as well.
I like SFEX one and two for the PSOne, it had a lot going for it, with its lore, new characters and gameplay mechanics. And I'll admit SFEX 3 was my least favorite I still liked it, like a guilty pleasure. *Street Fighter EX 3* was one of THE Best Epic *Street Fighter* Games there is of the PS2 System from my Childhood Years!
They should make a street fighter 3d collection, giving all 3 ex games and the rival school games
EX 3 was a great time. I used to throw down on this game for hours with a group of friends.
This game made me like Street Fighter. Now Street Fighter 6 is Trash like Mega garbage. Sf went from this to JoJo Bizarre style. 🤮🤮
False Info, SFEX3 was huge in several countries. Do you know how to do a dragon punch? Are you a gamer?
EX3 Deservse an Update once we get an EX Collection.
Tekken Tag Tournament is what buried this game. Both were PS2 U.S. launch titles and Tag was even improved over it's Japanese PS2 release with much needed character smoothing 😎👍
Ace’s apperance is based on mad max with makes him more relevant today than when the game came out.
Sounds like as long as I like it it’s the worst but yeah I’m about my SF EX still! They just want money also complaining all over the internet for hours Jesus Christ thank budda
SFEX2P, SFEX2, SFEX3 and SFEXPA were ahead of its time... amazing expert and maniac combos. Also, EX3 introducing alpha 3 mechanics and modes!!! 🔥
One of my fav games, could do so much and tbh was very overlooked at the time i felt. When they came back with fighting layer ex i was a hyped but i dunno to me it was missing a lot of what i liked about the ex series
Also Ace should’ve had his own moves and story as a new character

Despite the flaws, these games are better than street fighter 3 and all of the characters are better than rufus hakan aki and fang and marisa..

EX3 is super underrated! It's always a blast to play it.
Sorry but street fighter 4 is way better then street fighter ex 3 that’s on PS2 and so is street fighter 3 I own all the street fighter games still today street fighter 4 is better then the street fighter 5 and 6 capcom isn’t doing as well they did in 2009

I beat the game a couple of times and I was done.
EX3 didn't kill Street Fighter. SFIII did.
Capcom Fighting Evolution was explicitly the game whose failure drove Capcom to sit down and genuinely reevaluate what they were doing in the genre.
A pity that said reevaluation brought with it an apparent crippling fear of their fighting games cannibalizing each other.
Hard agree.
My friends and I love the ex series. Nothing looked or felt like these at the time
I've never seen this game in a store before. I would have 100% got it along with Tekken Tag Tournament when I got my PS2 the following April
It played like tekken, except everyone had common moves like Mortal Kombat and each character had a very limited number of special moves. This was horribly inferior to Tekken itself.
The ex series was amazing. I wish there was another one. EX3 didn't seem to have a wide release. I had to order it online.
The SF EX games are really cool. I wish they make a SF EX4.
As for the game that killed the Street Fighter franchise, it was actually SF3 Third Strike.
Man the good ol times of street fighter EX. I remember the arcade days with street fighter ex plus alpha. Impressive how the EX games foreshadowed the future as a 2.5 D series
Back in the days when Capcom and square soft could do no wrong in my eyes
I just discovered this game existed; I thought Street Fighter IV was the first 3D game in the series
It definitely has not aged well with those early polygons, but at the time ES3 was one of my favorite fighting games. I really liked Hakuto. Has she ever been in any other of the series?
Ex 1 ex 2 fightingexlayer and if memory serves me right she was in fightinglayer
Ex2 is the best one
I wish we get a Street Fighter EX Collection with a New Version of EX3 Called Street Fighter EX3 Plus on Steam, PS5, & XSX.
I remember seeing Tekken Tag showcased before the release of the PS2 and it just looked WAY better than EX3.
I never even considered playing EX 3 because it looked so lackluster vs the much more impressive competition.
Tekken Tag 1 had SUCH a good game design and graphics it honestly beat the graphics of several Tekken sequels with its style and design 😵💫
If you compare the games in 4K on emulator. Tekken tag still looks better in almost all ways.
So I’d assume the regular consumer saw it the same way. The visual impression of some games just left all competitors in the dirt completely
This game is my literal childhood
I love this game all the moves training getting the combos right playing with my friends betting money brings me back.
Can you imagine the devs saying "Ya know what, let's add some EX characters in 6."
The first one they made on PS1 was played by me like no tomorrow one of my favorite characters was Garuda
sometimes i think I'm the only person who enjoyed the ex series, had a blast and enjoyed quite a few of the characters, shame they didnt pop up in the newer games
This was my first PS2 game this is a classic for us
They need to remake this series with same combo system like ex layer from arika
Did Street Fighter EX3 have a multiplayer versus mode or did it not have a multiplayer versus mode? If SFEX3 didn't have a multiplayer versus mode, then it must have been rushed. I don't like rushed video games.
Why is Sakura Kasugano the Only Returning Character who's Missing in EX2?
Never got to play EX3... didn't get a PS2 until Tekken 4 came out! I always thought EX3 looked cool in the magazines! I loved the first two EX games
My favorite sf ever I stop playing sf after ex3 I used to brag to my friends that I had ex3 back home I remembered my friend jack borrowing my ex3 for DBZ Budokai what a time.
I loved the ex series. The new characters had their own personality and fighting style that was very balanced
I loved the ex series. The ex3 player selecte theme is fire
I just never cared too much for 3D Fighting games. It's not like there aren't good 3D fighters like Tekken, Soul Cabalur. Virtua Fighter, Rival Schools. The major issue I have is 3D tends to age quicker than 2D and half 3D.
I had this one friend where after school we would play this game so hard one of my favorites
My only criticism is that there are no new characters, they’re all from EX1 and EX2. Besides that it was pretty damn fun. Better than the half made games now.
That outro music though 👌
The ex Series I think are underrated. I love street fighter 3rd strike, but it only really appeals to more hardcore players and not casual players. Fighters in this period started to decline really.
I literally just bought this game at my local retro game store today
I wanted this game so bad but for some reason could not find it
The hits sound effects were so satisfying! EX2 has the better players out of the whole series.
I could have sworn he already uploaded this video
Wish id known about this game as a kid I know I would’ve had a blast with it. I had EX plus alpha growing up so for me that was the only ex game because I never saw 2 or 3 in stores
To be honest with you, i loved street fighter EX3
Ex3 is an amazingly fun time if you have a friend who knows what they’re doing.
You skipped the street fighter ex plus/plus alpha games
I loved this game. It was actually the first ps2 game I bought, my brother bought ffx on the same day. I was set
“Stiff and mechanical”. Isn’t that just polygonal fighters in general?
I would argue no. I love pixel games, but technically those are more stiff by how they are animated. Polygons at least actually move in their environment.
This was the game I played for a VERY LONG TIME when I first got my ps2!
Dramatic battles have been a thing since alpha
EX was awesome and one of the few arcade games released in UK during that area. If anything EX kept SF relevant.
If it wasnt for sf ex 3 i would of never liked streetfighters and the fact that people hate on it has always amazed me it was a good game
There certainly isn't as much nostalgia for the Capcom 3d Fighter properties is there? I still fondly remember Rival Schools and Star Gladiator, but there doesn't seem to be a Capcom 3d Fighter collection on the horizon.
I adore Star Gladiator.
The best in the Street Fighter EX series was the first game on the PS1.
It was on a blue disc that the ps2 couldn't always run right
The Street Fighter name was strong, but what it really means is Street Fighter 2 was strong. Alpha, 3, and EX didn't get the love they deserved at launch.
Remember getting this when goty PS2, underrated
I remember Max firing this game up and having a great time 🤣
Still has the best Chun-Li theme in any Streetfighter game
I loved this game & still own it to this day.
EX series fans coming out of the woodwork. Good comments section.
Soundtrack of X3 is fire tho
is that the reason why akira and capcom separated in creating sf series
Capcom fighting jam killed street fighter. All iterations Street fighter 3 was so unbalanced, it killed street fighter.
Street Fighter EX3 made me play street fighter. I Stopped playing SF after Super Nintendo 😂. EX3 is a masterpiece and needs a remaster. 🔥
I’m Adan if this series and thought I was the only one.
I remember the plus alpha game.
Streetfighter 2010 was in arcades?
Street Fighter Ex3 is been killer street fighter.
Tekken 3 fans: first time?
I was 13 when this game dropped I loved it tho
All three ex were great games. I had all three 💯
