I downloaded the last season of “Dexter” on it and watched that on my flight to Hawaii this last spring…had a private beach too. Headphones for the airplane. I paint watercolor so that’s how I occupy myself. I did one painting per day (sitting outside) of the view I had. Maybe you’d like to do some sketching? Anyone can learn to draw, it’s fun.
I looked at painting as a hobby to start a while ago, as I do like the idea. I have a favourite artist and would love some of their things, but it's hard to find the ones I want in the UK. Glad to hear you don't find your iPad sexy, I still think it's a weird thing to do when people refer to objects as sexy! I'm mixing ideas up so it's all helping.
I just got back from a trip to Montana. I got to see all my friends and visit places where I grew up. Now that I'm back I feel exhausted, I bet from all the masking! I hope you can unwind a bit on your trip. Safe travels!
Whenever I go somewhere I love to learn about it in terms of the culture, history etc even if it's just on the internet. I am the same with needing to do things. I can't just sit on a sun lounger all day I would go insane. I tend to take puzzle books with me to keep my mind entertained and will watch TV shows/movies in particular ones I've already seen so I feel more comforted as I feel out of place on holiday. One idea is to write plans/scripts for videos. I like just sitting down, coming up with ideas and getting my thoughts together on it. When I am at the beach I love to make patterns in the sand and watch the waves but it can get boring if that's the only thing you are doing. I hope you have a good time anyway.
If you can't read books how about listening to them? I can't read books any more either for numerous reasons, but audio books have allowed me to get back into them. It's turning into a new hobby just learning more about the various types of books and building collections of things I may enjoy listening to. And then of course actually listening to them. (For me audio-books avoid the whole eye strain/sleep inducing/wandering mind problems I now encounter whenever I try to read printed books)
I might get a couple downloaded. I tried it with the Thursday Murder Club and listened to that when I was driving but it made me sleepy, probably not best for driving. But maybe for another try on a beach 👍🏻
@@AdultwithAutism yeah the hard part is finding books one can get into. This is why I spend so much time watching you tube 'best/ favourite books of various types' videos etc. I hope you have a good and enjoyable holiday Paul whatever you decide to do.
Some relatable things, everything I need is at home. I relate to never making an effort to save just end up not doing things which costs money outside of paying for bills and food because there isn’t any desire to do so, and keeping costs to a minimum. I don’t really go to bars, but have had plenty of experiences feeling invisible just waiting to be noticed and served, the school canteen was a good example, but anywhere that doesn’t have an organised line to be served doesn’t really work for me, especially if it is in a noisy environment. On holidays if I have any downtime I read, even though I can’t really see pictures in my mind I still enjoy reading fiction. Probably enjoy those focused more things happening and on relatable characters, being inside someone’s head, rather than needing to know what things look like to tell what’s happening, any long descriptions where things aren’t happening are boring because they don’t help bring me into a world since I can’t see it. I usually like to read thrillers where there is some suspense about what is going to happen. I also like drawing. I haven’t ever travelled by myself though, so not a lot of downtime when travelling with others.
Awesome video Paul! As a Hostie I never have to line up for anything. When I am traveling for pleasure I am filled with anxiety about all aspects of the experience. Also when working I sit in a jump seat so never have to sit next to someone, except occasionally with other crew. As for what to do on your vacation? How about some long walks, write some more amazing songs. Someone wrote audio books. That sounds like an excellent idea! I think I might try some myself. Are there courses offered there? Perhaps windsurfing? Something like that would be mostly solitary. Also how about making an away video? Most phones now have amazing cameras now. I hope you have a great time regardless of what you decide to do!
Hey Bryan, can't walk far because of the knee unfortunately. And for music, I need the music first, as that creates the structures and lyrics, and I won't be taking a guitar...which I'm sure other holiday makers will enjoy! I think a new tablet, with some shows on I like loaded on, a couple of mind games, and some research on putting books together...along with my 100Gb of music, should help 🤞🏻
Hey Paul! Completely understand how you feel about going on holiday... like you said, I've got everything I want/need right here! I also feel like I have that same sort of connection to water that you described. I get terribly sea sick when on it, but I just love looking at the water... it's like a magnet. One of the few things in the world that seems to recharge me... or at least not drain my energy as fast? Similarly specific criteria when selecting a place to stay. Must have a view of water, relatively quiet, etc. etc. Anyway, like others have suggested to do with your spare time on holiday, I think exploring the writing idea could be productive in that environment? If you're like me and sometimes need a 2-birds-1-stone angle, learning how to get all those ideas out of your head and into writing more efficiently/clearly (I'm struggling here, lol!) could help you (and me!) in quite a few other areas these days (work emails, social media, friends, etc.). When on holiday in places like you're describing I always seem to dabble in taking sunset/sunrise photos and go down the camera settings rabbit hole, since I've got the view of the water (or I wouldn't be staying there!)... ;-) Gives me a bit to look forward to each evening/morning... anticipate the weather, too cloudy, just right, etc. Though admittedly that does sort of set you up for a bit of disappointment if the weather is crap and/or your photos don't turn out, lol :) Anyway, I hope you have a nice holiday and can get set up to get some productive relaxation in! Take care.
Haha, cheers Nathan. It's been really helpful getting ideas off people. I'm obsessed with wanting to get something down writing wise, I even have the topic...but I think if I spend time researching the best way to 'stay on track' will also help! The amount of times I start and then go completely off tangent...but I write like i do videos, so it doesn't translate well 😂
Now that’s a tricky question Paul I would not have a clue what to do, Just going away on holiday for a week makes me feel uncomfortable and starts the anxiety going, I wish I could of been more of a help with a suggestion, but if it wasn’t for my wife booking the holidays I truly think that I would not go away anywhere but I’m looking forward to looking at the comments to hopefully see more helpful replies. Oh you missed a trick with the numbering of your videos, your last video would of been much better suited at being number 69 👍
When I was working I always felt like I needed two weeks 'holiday' doing nothing before I started to feel like myself again. Going back further in time, I heard people saying they'd just got on a plane and gone somewhere with no plan and it became a massive voyage of discovery, and they'd met so many people and had so many adventures. I tried it, booked a holiday in Morocco, and just wandered around for a few days. I didn't meet anyone apart from the inevitable hassling the locals do. I don't think I said a single word to anyone, and the last few days I think I just sat in my hotel room drinking a 6 pack. My advice would be have a plan for every day. Book activities and excursions. If you're anything like me you need a structure, or you're lost. I'm useless at social stuff but I also crave company because I'm so isolated. The most enjoyable holidays I had were working holidays/volunteering with small groups of people. Mind you, there were some awful ones where I didn't get on with anyone in the group and they all completely ostracised me, but on some of the others I did feel accepted, although I was always very quiet
@@AdultwithAutism Being able to do something if you want definitely makes doing nothing easier. When I say I'm socially isolated some people say they love to be alone, but I think that's usually because they don't have to be.

I m like you. i prefer sea and beachs. I go regularly to ibiza island in september ( the island is busy but some areas are quiet and less popular with tourists). I go early in the morning to the beach to swim because it's less crowded) and i dont do sunbathing ( i hate sun). After lunch i sleep one hour and after i watch in my bed series and movies that i saved in my phone before the travel. I go for sunset walking near the beach. I comeback to my hotel later and i listen to music and watch youtube. I dont go to restaurants or bars. I make my own sandwichs with what i buy in the supermarket. i m never bored.
Fair enough, you make it your own which is good. I've thought of having things on my phone to take to watch so when I'm relaxing, I can still keep connected with what I enjoy. I like Ibiza too, I've been to North Ibiza a few times 👍🏻
I'm also a very bad tourist, i don't know what to do and i even get laughed at or scolded because l’m wasting holiday time. I don't like museum, i don't care about monuments, i don't care about music events, i don't like the crowd. Just let me enjoy some time outside of my usual life XD
Hello! Thank you for all of your posts. I am autistic as well and I find your videos comforting and enjoyable. I was recently on holiday by the ocean. I greatly enjoyed being there and found that focusing on when it was high and low tide very interesting. Check out any tide pools and maybe try to engage your senses in the life that lives in the sea. Things that wash up, like sea shells, kelp, rocks can be very interesting to look at. Low tide allows you a window into what lives right at your feet. Maybe looking into finding some sea and nature books explaining what lives in the area you will be visiting. I have found quietly engaging with the natural surroundings simply by observing the environment to be very relaxing. Whatever you decide to do, I hope you have a peaceful holiday.
Thanks Kelly, much appreciated. Funnily enough, last time I was there I was stung by a jellyfish, so I found out what lives there!! The guards had to bring me a roll on soother as in was across my torso and very sore. I do that sort of thing anyway, I'm the weirdo you see just stood in the sea staring down, watching the fish swim around me, and trying to stay as still as possible to see what they're up to...I bet people think I'm having a wee or something.
Ouch! That jellyfish sting isn't exactly the kind of holiday memory to bring home. I too, am the perceived weirdo looking into the water to see what's happening below the deck, so to speak. Just remember, if people think you might be having an ocean wee, that will certainly help to keep those pesky people at a distance!
Hello Paul. I just had one more holiday-what to do offering. Have you ever read any graphic novels/ manga? That genre of books can be much more engaging than just words on a page and there are endless subject categories to choose from. It was just a thought.
You already have equipment and software, so I would suggest maybe some timelapses, photos, vlog type, walk around videos which you could edit back home, if you are taking the camera with you.
I won't be taking the camera. At most, I'll buy a new tablet...but that'll be more for looking at the Internet and watching things. I won't be doing anything filming wise I shouldn't think.
Hi im autistic doing great by going on holiday which you deserve.maybe while on your location a walking meditation take in more of your many ideas when you return. Doesn't matter how big or small.
Wish I could Danny, but with my knee still being sore, it's hard to walk even half a mile. I'm hoping time in the sea might act as rehab for it! But I'll be doing a lot of reflection whilst away 👍🏻
Latecomer to this video (I hope the holiday was enjoyable - it sounded fantastic to me), but have you looked at English translations of Japanese manga for "reading?" You can find almost anything, and there are some apps that would let you read it on a tablet, since the physical books themselves can be bulky. I'd almost guarantee you'd find something aligned to your interest.
Challenge accepted. Buy a swim mask/snorkle and float face down looking under the water. Buy a sunscreen applicator so you can slather up your back pale fellow, and see whatever is passing by in the water. Get a puzzle, cardboard with pieces type, and a do it within the box so the wind doesnt blow your pieces. Get binoculars see what you can. Fish gosh darnit, bet that sort of place rents gear. You have a huge wide brim hat for that? Line your pockets with ziplocs, and see how much food you can stuff in your pockets to eat in bed later good sneaky fun. Drop your mask completely and be grumpy and non-responsive to everyone. Take a ball and see how high you can throw and catch it without getting out of beach lounger. Do they have folding chairs, if you cant sit upright on the ground? Then take that into the water and sit there. Collect small shells and braid into your beard and leave it the whole vacation. Is that enough? I can come up with more LOL!!
Haha, braid my beard 😂 The weather is shocking over there, so that's a bonus in relation to sun screen, won't need any! I've loaded up my tablet with puzzles though, and staring in the sea is always high on my agenda 👍🏻
@@AdultwithAutism I assume shocking means cold in your country? Are you going to a cold grey blustery beach? Lounge and look is bout the whole of it then. I lived on the Florida coast for a decade. No comprende.
Cold, raining, for most of the two weeks. It wouldn't be bad as that's usually mu favourite weather, but when you go to a beach, you want beach type weather! Or I do anyway 😂
Do you know if you can get football manager on a tablet? I don't know whether it's a good quality android tablet you're thinking of or an ipad, but I've seen how a lot of them being able to basically be turned into laptops, I'm sure you could get a more portable version of ya Football Manager 🙂🙂
You can get it on a tablet, but it's not the same at all. It's like me racing against Usain Bolt, one of them is an embarrassment of an attempt at trying to do something that the other is so good at 😂
This is what I do -
Easy way to write a book, chapter by chapter:
- write each major, separate idea or event in a bulleted list, in chronological order.
- head each bullet point as a different chapter.
- go to each bullet point, sequentially, and add one sentence to one paragraph worth of detail or elaboration to it to explain it better.
- continue this process until each bullet point has reach approximately 15-20 printed pages worth of text.
- read through each bullet point and organize all of the writing contained in it so it's neat, in order, and cohesive.
- read the whole thing through to double check the grammar and spelling.
- have someone else read through it to see if it is sequentially cohesive, and ask them how you can edit it to make it flow better.
- make corrections and edits, then run it through a spelling and grammar checker.
- publish and sell it as a book.
Thanks Jensen, that's what I'm missing, a sort of hard guideline to stay within. A fixed template to then fill in the blanks 👍🏻

Just remember, if people think you might be having an ocean wee, that will certainly help to keep those pesky people at a distance!
Haha, if they start getting close to me, I'll make a face as if I am 😂
@@AdultwithAutism It's always good to have a plan! 😋
I used to swim, outside of the small harbours, in the ocean where nobody goes.😉
Hermit in the sea. 🤣
I don't mind doing things so long as it is relatively human free 👍🏻
Haha, braid my beard 😂
The weather is shocking over there, so that's a bonus in relation to sun screen, won't need any!
It's like me racing against Usain Bolt, one of them is an embarrassment of an attempt at trying to do something that the other is so good at 😂
Xdddddd 😂😂😂😂😊
👍🏻
