Maybe it sounds funny to have a favorite war. It's a guy thing I guess but I'm specifically interested in WW2. I like the level of technology they were working with. No trench stalemates. Mobile high speed war but no helicopters yet and almost no jets. But modern enough that everyone was working on some kind of super weapon. I also like that it was clearly good guys fighting evil guys. History is rarely so cut and dry.

We you say that France and Britain didn't really have a choice to have another war? 1:22 Germany didn't want a war with them, and France didn't either, but Britain wanted it. The reason Germany invaded Norway, Denmark, Holland, Belgium was to keep the British off the mainland, because they declared war on Germany, who only wanted the expand east. I don't get where this idea comes from that this was set in stone and there was no other way. There are always other options.

The germans reached Crimia in september of 1941 and in order to invade it they had to wait till early november of 1941 because there's a strait in the northern part of crimia which can be crossed by foot if the water is frozen in the surrounding lakes. That's why we can see in the video that nearly on all fronts they were attacking consistently, but they stopped with advancing for 2 months. The situation is very similar in todays world with the Russo-Ukrainian war.

The reason for the big push of the wester allies is simple. Most of the wehrmacht soliders preferd to surrender to the british or US soldies to avoid ending up in a sibirian gulag. Also the commanders ordered to let them pass and focus on the east to protect the civillians from the soviets.

The British ended up with a total of 3.6 million German prisoners, the most out of everyone, but also had by far the least amount of fatalities in captivity.. there was a clear preference for capture. The British dedicated its efforts towards reeducation for POWs, so did the Soviet Union… but erm, teaching a Nazi about communism doesn’t usually work as well
