The Greek/Serbian/Russian part just means what particular jurisdiction that you fall under, which typically is divided by where people are from. Otherwise, all Canonical Eastern Orthodox Churches the same. Right now, in the United States, all of the immigrant churches still follow the jurisdiction of their old country. There are councils ongoing now to set up a new American Patriarchate with its own jurisdiction.

Hello to all orthodox brothers. I somehow miss the point of this prefix''Greek''. I'm from another orthodox country, but I never put my nationality in front of my religious commitment. Does it mean we have as many orthodox faiths as we have orthodox churchES? I think it is very wrong to separate faith, even in this, harmless way.
i know this was 8 years ago but the Ethiopian orthodox is so lost man they have there own bibile they have extra bibile books as well some one from the greek orthodox should do something about it

From Pentecost the apostles/disciples of Christ spread the Holy Faith into all lands. St. Paul's churches are called "Greek" Orthodox dating from his times. "Orthodox" Christian was the name for those believing in the Divinity of Christ from 1st Council (325 ad): Protestant use Orthodox New Testament, although without proper commentaries from the successors to Apostles (use Chrysostom, St. Irenaios of Lyon (from Apostles John), Ignatios' epistles...many letters available to us.

I heard the first Christian presence for Celtic Orthodoxy started in 37 AD when Joseph of Arimathea, who was a wealthy tin merchant, made his way to the Isle of Iona in modern day Britain where he started a monastery because Britain was the main tine export for the Roman empire and Joseph was a tin merchant, so he as a follower of Jesus who even gave up his tomb supposedly traveled all the way to Britain. . @@martinkent333 relax Satan... I'm not a believer myself. It's all too unbelievable. My mom raised me Roman Catholic. Before I made my confirmation I told her I didn't believe this... I couldn't understand how she did. She was so upset. She told me just make your confirmation and after that do what you want... So I didnt raise my children with any religious affiliation. If they decide on their own that they would like to believe in a religion, that's their decision. My son is in the military now, and my daughter just had a baby of her own... So far no interest in religion.

Indeed! This is one thing that separates us from Rome. The Faith cannot be dogmatized, and even the Patriarch is first among equals, not first over equals. Our Bishops oversee the operation of the church, and if a heracy should arise, it is quickly dealt with. In one case, during the 13th century, the church nearly united with Rome, but the people were so against it that riots started. The Bishops saw that their decision to unite was wrong, and they reversed their decision to unite. We cannot follow someone who claims to be the vicker of Christ and who is considered to be infalible as the Pope considers himself to be. St. Paul warned the church not to follow such a man, yet nearly 2 billion people still do. If we unite with Rome, it'll be a disaster.

+David Marino The Orthodox MAY Have similar things as Roman Catholics however we see them VERY differently. It depends on who you talk with as to whether or not they accept RC as a valid church or not. There is no reason to reunite, unless the RC reunite with Orthodoxy and renounce their heresies (which are MANY). Union for union sake is not a good thing. Union for truth, and that is the only reason.
