I remember back in 2017 we had a big order for these at work. We had to assemble the idlers for the 6060. You can see them partially obscured in the background at 1:36. I’ll never forget how massive the idlers were. 10,000 lbs each and almost as tall as I am. They were nerve wracking to lift on a hoist.
I'd love to see DHS DIECAST models come out with a 1/50th scale model of this shovel.
CATERPILLAR is the best brand in machinery. I've started my career with Cat and would like to get a job as machines operator.

I never understood something if someone could help me with. Why do some buckets face foward compared to facing the operator? Is there a benefit for that?
I know this is an old comment... But...
Front shovels like the 6060FS load material that is level with or above them. They work below the bench. The action of crowding out and curling up has a tremendous amount of forward breakout force, but they have pretty much no ability to dig below them. A backhoe (excavator) is designed to sit on top of the bench and dig below level. They have maximum breakout force when curling the stick and bucket inwards. Hope that explains it!

Nice bit of kit! In Sweden there are 25 y/o women who are operating those at opencast mines, quite a few dumptruck drivers, think the Swedes prefer a womens touch to their machines!

As is the cost of hydraulic shovel cat 6060
It's just a Terex O&K 400, you would think you would find some thing better after 20 years. I guess it it isn't broken and it works don't break it. Only thing new is it cat yellow, cat engine and the control tower switch have changed a bit.

Except that they haven't even had a 6120B H FS go to work yet. The only one even assembled at this point is the prototype, that has never left the factory. A second machine has been built, but not assembled yet, as the program was put on hold.
For Mining it is amazing

It’s basically a German Machine, designed and built in Germany. CAT just “merged” with the company and now paints them yellow and puts CAT stickers on them.

Poor O&K. Becoming Demag (if I remember), then Terex, then CAT.
I don't imagine motivation of people building this excavator.
