    This can be done with only removing the bucket and the three bolts that hold the pump in and the one hose for the syphon feed all you need is a swivel 3/8 drive and save yourself a huge headache without taking off the steering nozzle and brackets

    Great video thank you for sharing. Im new to pwc ownership. I purchased 2 2018 model year leftovers seadoo sparks. Both wear rings failed me the same day 5 minutes apart. Only 1.5 hours on both skis. Dealership says i sucked something up into them rocks they said. Im questioning what mechanic said. Are sparks any good? Are they known to fail 1.5 hours in on brand new ski? Thank you if you read and respond.

    • @Pwcmuscle
      @Pwcmuscle  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sparks do tend to blow out their wear rings more frequently than other models, but after just 1.5 hours it is more likely than not you sucked something up. Be sure to be in at least 3 feet of water with the engine on. If you are beaching the ski, make sure to kill the engine before hitting the shore and flush the pump before restarting (just bouncing the transom up and down a few times will force water in and clear the pump of sand)

    what does the number 12/17 mean? I'm not that sure which one I should buy I'm seeing all different kinds of impellers with different numbers for the spark? Do u know if these are stainless steel as well as the wear ring ?

    • @Pwcmuscle
      @Pwcmuscle  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The number tells you in theory how many feet forward the impeller would turn after 1 rotation. The front and back of the impeller are different pitches, so it is 12ft in the front, 17 in the back. It depends on what you have done to the ski for which impeller will work best. If you have a tune, the 12/17 is a bit tall, the 12/14 a bit short. We discuss this at length on PWCExtreme.com. The Solas impellers are stainless steel. There are stainless wear rings available on PWCMuscle.com, however OEM are plastic.

      Add Sea Doo Spark Owners on Facebook where many enthusiasts are willing to help with all questions. 12/17 is going to work best with a stock motor without tone. 12/14 is going to work best with the 110 Hp tune (Highly Recommended)

    Thanks for the tutorial, really not a hard job, just couple of tricky connections, if you take note of the disassembly, you will drop and chase a couple of stainless washers and grommets, but you should be fine. Just gonna add something from a long time boater/repair DIY guy:
    If you decide to change your impeller to a different pitch, not a good idea. Unless your unit is changing to a specific purpose, ( hole shot, ski puller, or hi speed racing ) use the recommended manufacturers impeller specs that was designed for your watercraft. An all purpose impeller is always your best choice, or the one designed for YOUR watercraft.

      Not on a Spark....the stock Spark impeller sucks tbh, the basic stock pitch but better made Solas variable pitch 12/14 one will have noticeably better top speed and a bit better acceleration even on a stock ski. a 12/15 is a MUST for any with a tune or mods also. Itll FLY out of the hole and gain 5+mph over their base upgrade and 8+ over a stock spark

      @@thetoddjohnson Just to let everyone who sees this know. It is not necessary to remove the 3 up extention. The way I did it, was when reassembling, I attached the ibr brackets on to the pump before putting it in. Then with a long extention and a universal socket spinning thing you should be able to reach the 3 bolts to install the pump.

    I put a 12/17 Solas impeller on my spark with a new plastic wear ring. In touring mode it gain 2mph and topped at 50 mph. And alot of pickup.It was great! However in sport mode it would act sluggish at full throttle. Only hit 50 mph, which is the same as the stock impeller. I checked the rpm's in each mode. They topped at 7400 in touring. 7100 in sport. After only 2 hours of use it blew the wear ring out. I was at top speed in sport mode. I didnt hit anything. I was in deep water too. But again, at top speed in sport mode it didnt run right. Any ideas??? Does a Solas impeller need at least metal sleeve wear ring? Does it need a different intake because it isnt getting enough water thru it?Any ideas would be helpfull. I ordered a new metal sleeve wear ring to replace. Thanks in advance.

    • @Pwcmuscle
      @Pwcmuscle  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Chris, the 12/17 will lower max RPMs, but should be faster in Sport. What other modifications do you have? Do you have a tune? Tried to look up your order and didn't find it.

    • @Pwcmuscle
      @Pwcmuscle  7 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @chrisbergman9573
      @chrisbergman9573 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      What happened is i let someone ride my ski and they drove it in shallow water, sucking up some stones. Did alot of damage besides wear ring. Including damaging the impeller. so I took it to the dealer because i couldnt fix some things. There they realized the stock impeller was damaged too. Plus the guy who damaged it paid for all the repairs. So i upgraded to the solas impeller then. I dont want to take it back to the dealer just for wear ring repalcement. I can do that. But i also have a metal sleeve impeller now to install this weekend. But will that help? Do you think its the dealers fault?

    • @Pwcmuscle
      @Pwcmuscle  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Don't think it is the dealer's "fault", just very odd that sport mode would yield lower RPMs than touring, and they might be able to diagnose something if they already had the ski in their possession. If you were thinking about adding a tune, this may be the time to do it.

      that part was confusing to me too, no need to remove the impeller ... even on older skis its optional. They just had a MUCH stronger design for the wear ring whereas on the spark anything can snap the plastic wear ring on the spark.
      There are many upgrades for the spark wear ring which are highly recommended, having a plastic wear ring is a good thing, but it should have a metal outermost shell lined with plastic on the inside to protect the impeller.
      Guys running all SS wear ring, SS impeller, can be destructive if you suck up sand, etc and the pump cant take it.

    no grease??

      @Pwcmuscle  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not quite sure where you mean. 03:30 we put anti-seize on the threads. For grease in the cone, this was a brand new unit so no changes needed. Inspect and replace as needed. For higher performance models and those that need it replaced, we typically change the grease out for gear oil.

    do u know what number is the stock impeller for the spark ?

    • @Pwcmuscle
      @Pwcmuscle  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Due to different design characteristics, OEM pitches don't really relate to aftermarket ones. You can't really compare the two, and the Solas is far superior. Check out how the Spark reacted in our Impeller results video th-cam.com/video/yNBfFRlf4TY/w-d-xo.html

      I have a spark it's 2up ho ace with ibr and I'm gonna replace the stock wear ring with the solas one. The ski is bone stock do you know which impeller would be the best to go with the stainless steel wear ring?

    • @Pwcmuscle
      @Pwcmuscle  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why are you looking for going stainless with the wear ring? The wear ring is meant to be sacrificial, so if it is stainless that means that there will be damage to the impeller if you suck anything up. 12/17 would work well for you: www.pwcmuscle.com/sea-doo-spark-12-17-variable-pitch-impeller.html
      I also recommend going with the a tune, then taking a few MM off when you raise the RPMs. Here is our full build series to help with some of the upgrades available: www.pwcextreme.com/t/sea-doo-spark-build-series-by-pwcmuscle/230

      So their isn't a performance difference in plastic and stainless? And does the impeller touch the wear ring or no?

    My ring and impeller are gone 1hr into run time...they want 600 to fix it...if i do it myself will it void dealer warranties?..

    • @Pwcmuscle
      @Pwcmuscle  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, it won't void your warranty. You can get the supplies right on PWCMuscle.com, be sure to get the impeller removal tool

    • @oneeyedrone4293
      @oneeyedrone4293 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      the warranty is totally useless on seadoo toys, the fine print basically voids anything, even if its genuine seadoo error, they will blame it on user error. Leaving it in the sun, "improper maintenance". Read you limited warranty agreement and you can then throw it out after.
      just go ahead, read the step by step posts and videos, and you can fix pretty much anything and with a lot more patience than a dealership.
      Good luck and have fun out there.
