This is one of the best video’s we have watched on your guys channel. We are full time RVERS and don’t make a plan EVER!! It adds too much stress. We’re supposed to be having fun. You guys rock!! Thanks for the great coverage of our home state of SD.
I do love traveling by "the seat of my pants" as well! Also, two thumbs up to the fabulous shot of Kristy next to the lake with her hair dancing in the wind!
They say it is one of the most haunted spots anywhere, and many of the staff, including the college kids working in the summer have stories about getting the bejesus scared right out of them. Not a place to be at night, they say, the battle goes on.
We could not agree with you more on the Little Bighorn. The National Park Service gave one of the most moving and educational tours there of any national park or monument we’ve ever visited. Our ranger was actually a Lakota Indian! He spoke as if he were there that day and transported all of us back in time. My entire family remembers it twenty years later. The highlight of our trip.
Hello from Chapel Hill. Just visited Little Bighorn in July. I agree with you that it is indeed a stirring place, made especially so by the single grave markers situated in the middle of the fields. Safe travels.
HEY!!! We were here in SD! Still are! We bought Isabella a 2015 25ft Flying cloud w/ twin beds last January. We tow her with a 2017 F250 Power Stroke, "Sampson". We took her out a half dozen times before permanently leaving Oregon for political reasons I won't get into. Isabela is the perfect escape pod. We took I90 and landed our first night in Spearfish SD city campground on 8/1. Great place, they have a fish hatchery right next door. If Disneyland had a fish hatchery this would be it. The town is real nice. Then we went to Deadwood, that place is a must see. Gun fights in the streets. The old west architecture is outstanding. We have been camping in Custer for the past 4 days. We are waiting for a house we put a bid on in the Black Hills near Rapid City to close. Thanks for all the inspiration that has helped us realize our dream. Thanks for all the useful information. I use the scoop whenever I can. Thanks for being brave and always showing your faces.
Just goes to show how less stressful it is to travel the way you do, with no real plans. It means sometimes you aren't where you'd hoped you would be, but then you spend more time in the places you didn't know you'd like so much. Right on. You both look so relaxed. Nice to see and also to tag along. Bless you both. So glad you arrived AFTER the hail storm.
I have always wondered why not all public restroom doors do not open out so they can be opened with you foot. God bless the inventor of the bathroom door foot pull.
1981, I stopped in Custer, Montana for gas on a trip. I talked with the gas station attendant about the amount of volcanic ash they got from Mt. St. Helens in 1980. By the way, that bottle of Seven Deadly Zins is excellent. My "fun Aunt" introduced me to the brand. Unfortunately, I was about 61 rather than about 16 when she did that.
Thanks, I will check out the "Zins"! I have heard that it's actually good. I just like to tease about those wine descriptions. My palate is not so precise!
Sean, next time you are at Nomad View and need to dump, go to the north end of Wall and you'll find Sleepy Hollow Campground & RV Park. They will let you dump and fill water for $10.00 and you're on you're way with NO searching.
My husband and I did several long trips in the Prius, making hotel reservations just a night or 2 ahead. As the hotel review sites get better, we've had fewer terrible hotels, but we are spending more money. At least we get a good night's sleep. Now that it is just me, and I can have a more primitive toilet (bucket), I'm getting a tent that attaches to the Prius so I can do more camping. I like being able to stand up (and a place for the bucket), but sleep inside it the Prius, thus the attached tent.
My local Cabela’s still has overnight parking and signs for such, but the last time I came back to the area the dump station is gone like it never existed. All landscaped over. All that’s left is a cap over where the drain was, and a cap over where the pay/code post was. It only had a rinsing hose that the shut off got mange’s at some point.
I loved this video. It's great to look at how you find sites etc... I hope to do more spontaneous travel when we retire. I think it sounds fun. I've passed by that Lake DeSmet several times and never stopped there. Thanks for the video.
Loved this.. we just traveled through the same area on a very “planned” agenda.. as you say, there are pros and cons.. but you make a good argument for trying the unplanned! Thanks, Sean!!!
I noticed your lights under the trailer. I had a old timer give me a very good tip. I'm using solar power motion light under my trailer. When anything cross under, the light scares them off. Works like a dream!!
This is one of my favorite episodes! Just about done with a 3 month trip (our first) from VA Beach to CA and back again. Our best experiences were the unplanned ones, especially once we got our boon-docking game on.
Many college libraries will allow people to use their computers too. Also some of the senior centers have computer access if you're a senior. I like traveling without reservations too.
My husband and I have been traveling with an RV for 3 years. Every day of our non-RV life is planned. We look forward to our 4 week trips. We know the final destination. We never plan the trip to the destination. It is refreshing to see another traveler that doesn’t plan. Like you we have found some beautiful places with amazing views. We can’t wait to go on the road for longer periods of time. Thank you for sharing this unplanned adventure.
We NEVER plan, unless meeting up with or traveling with friends or going somewhere highly desirable like a national park. Because of this we end up really being able to explore the places we go. Summer 2019 we ended up spending over 3 weeks in the Sister’s Oregon area, within a maybe 100 mile radius, maybe a hair more with out staying more than 4 days in one spot! Mostly Forest Service campgrounds - nice ones.- for as low as $4.50 a night cuz we’re considered senior citizens. And we plan on going back to spend more time there. Camping Right on the Rogue and Metolius Rivers for starters. So much fun! No plans are the best plans!
They have stopped, but the Billings still allows it. I agree it's a major bummer if they have stopped for good. We need to figure out a win-win arrangement for all of these stores. (ie. store purchase in exchange for overnight and/or dump stations).
Ha! We decided to opt for cabelas over that winery because we weren’t sure about parking on the street. We were exhausted so we didn’t care about missing the wine tasting. We did that tunnel years ago, it was pretty unreal and we recorded it as well. It is entertaining to see you guys visiting places we’ve been too.
You guys travel the way we do. We love to just go and plan along the way. Makes the adventure so much more fun!! Thanks for sharing. We are really enjoying your content!
Earlier this year we took one of the best trips possible. We toured the 11 western states in a month. We boondocked, mooch docked, Harvest Hosted and stayed in campgrounds. We were day by day and were not sure where we were headed. In general we did have a direction we were going but plans changed quite often. We plan on taking off again soon for another month or so.
If you want to understand the culture of military life from the perspective of George Armstrong Custer’s wife, Elizabeth Custer, get the book “Boots & Saddles”. Fascinating writing including letters from Custer to his wife and Elizabeth to her husband. As well as descriptions of her duties as an officer’s wife in creating opportunities to improve morale among the troops, hosting parties for visiting dignitaries and support of her husband while traveling with the troops.
Each of us has our own travel style. When we're RVing we make a list of everything interesting that we can find online near where we'll be. We note hours and phone numbers so we can make reservations if needed. We don't have a specific schedule, but we have a rough idea and enough options to come up with plans B and C if Plan A is unworkable. The rough planning is part of the fun for me; when I can pull alternatives out of my notebook on the fly it's way less stressful to hit a roadblock.
We enjoy mozying. Perhaps when we retire we will be more able to thoroughly enjoy. Time crunch to get back to work sucks! Thank you for a great episode
Sitting at home in Billings, MT and I see you guys just passed through! As usual a great video from Long Long Honeymoon. You were the first RV channel I started watching when we bought our travel trailer. I’ve learned a lot from you two. Glad you had a good time here. Have a safe trip and keep making videos! 😊
Hats off to Cabela's for providing us with RV amenities! However, I can't park there because I can't put out the slides on my fifth wheel with the narrow width of the parking spaces. My partner won't even go in the trailer when the slides are in. She's claustrophobic.
My wife and I have been wandering around the country the same way as your past week and love the stress free adventure of always being home no matter where we are. Love your channel.
I see you folded in your mirrors to go through the tunnel. So did I. After I went through I watched a tour bus come through the tunnel. That was interesting. The card at the wheel had put a student driver sign in the windshield. 🤔 He literally had only inches on each side of his mirrors. Thanks for the video. You hit the nail on the head when you talk about the luxury of time. Because that’s what our traveling is. It’s never as enjoyable when there is someplace I have to be at a certain time.
The Cabelas does have a dump station on the back side of the store (between the store and the Interstate). Although we use the dump at Common Cents all the time..: ) We really enjoyed watching you make your way through our area in the Black Hills.
We are in Custer since Aug. 1, for the summer. Really enjoyed this video. We used to travel with our horses, and stayed at Broken Arrow then. I hope you were able to do the wildlife loop in Custer Park to see the 1400 buffalo and the begging burros. So much in this area is a must. Spearfish Canyon is amazing. We really enjoy your videos. Wish we had known you were here. We had just left 7th Ranch RV at The Little Bighorn Battlegrounds before coming here to Custer. We spend our summers here because of the cool temps. God Bless, safe travels.
We are on our way to West Glacier before heading down to Yellowstone and Grand Teton. Hoping to see you guys if possible. Just left home in Round Rock TX today.
My wife and I just love you channel. We have subscribed for a few years now. We are weekend warriors but who knows that may change when we retire. Keep up the great work and be safe.....
I just went on a trip from Seattle area to southern Utah. It was the best trip ever, because I didn't plan a thing, but a few destinations. When I was tired at the end of the day, or my journey ended, was where I stayed for the night. I feel its the way to travel.
We just got back from a 16 day trip to and from the Tetons. We planned nothing as we do for any vacation we take. On our way to the Tetons, we stayed at a winery in Iowa, Union Pacific Golden Spike museum in North Platte Nebraska and dispersed camped in a Southern Wyoming desert near Baggs Wyoming along the Colorado boarder. We then stayed at Colter Bay(no hook ups) for 3 nights. It was fine. So so not impressed and sad to see Jackson Lake so low. We then moved on down to Gros Ventre and Atherton campgrounds (no hook ups) and loved those campsites. Atherton is even better than Gros Ventre I think as there is far less people, beautiful lake, more privacy and only cost $15 a night but is first come first serve. On our way back to Chicago we stayed at Pawnee Buttes in Pawnee National Grassland in Colorado. Again like the the desert in Wyoming. Beautiful sites, wildlife and no humans. LOLzzz. We then stayed at a horse hotel in Nebraska and a meadrey in Iowa and finally home. So many great places to stay using Harvest hosts, Campendium and just Google searches.
Great Video. We love the Black Hills and the Little Big Horn areas as well. I like the review of the county park on the lake... very nice. We just got home from the Apostle Islands National lake shore. If you have not been in this area I'd recommend a trip up. Take care!!
Your footage of Little Bighorn gave me the feeling of Gettysburg Battlefield -- a reverent and haunted feeling. Thanks for another wonderful video! Illness (mine, although the general COVID situation would probably have discouraged me from traveling anyway) has kept me off the road for far too long, and I hope to get back out there fulltime by next spring. In the meantime I'm living vicariously through you!
We were traveling from Badlands to Garryowen and I commented to Peggy how there must be a car show somewhere. Sounds like there was. We where traveling the 90 with final destination Glacier National Monument. But first a one nighter at 7th Ranch (Great little RV Park getting a new start and doing a nice job) then off for Glacier but first stop The Little Big Horn. I have spent my entire life live next to the Seneca Nation of Indians and am quite aware of battles throughout the years but that Monument to that battle is without a doubt one of the finest. After Glacier it’s down the road to Yellowstone. We are so hoping to see y’all there, seriously we have been following since the early years and would enjoy the chance to say hi or even sit a spell. Joe
Wow! This is so nice seeing a lot. Very nice with the horse riding campground. That was nice camping along the lake. Those classic cars were cool to see. That was cool going to a harvest host. Great video. Glad in the beginning you found a place by camellias to dump. That’s maybe why they have no dumping at that Cabellas. Just water and this other place has dumping. That is odd. Well hope you have a great Labor Day weekend.
I drive a truck all over wyoming, Colorado, Montana, Idaho and Northern Utah and whenever y'all come out this way, I look for you but it seems I'm always a few days ahead or behind you. Enjoy your travels and keep the good vids coming.
I really like your “Out west Camping”. I wish you would go East and maybe try Stone Mountain or go to Tybee Island or Dahlonega or Helen GA. And maybe we could meet at a campground in GA.
We constantly are told that all RV parks are full and you can’t find camp sites! You have proven that’s not true. Very encouraging for those of us who have been putting off getting into RV life. Thanks!
Both times we camped at Nomad View, we used the gas station/RV park in Wasta, only 13 miles from Wall. I think it was $10. We got potable water there too.
So glad to see “unplanned” works as I am NOT a planner and always heard to travel west I need reservations. I’m a “wing it” Fly by the seat of my pants so happy to see options.
Loved our stay at Mikesell-Potts Recreation Area County Park. Stayed there two years ago on our way through Yellowstone and Grand Teton. We could see the boat launch where you guys stayed. We were right on top the hill. We also stopped at the Yellowstone Winery. The owner was incredibly friendly and invited us to stay even though we didn't have reservations.
We definitely must have passed you at some point probably in the Black Hills. We are planning a day in advance mostly and take great pride in avoiding interstate travel. Our luck finding dispersed camping around Custer ended at a campground just like you!
They take tour buses through there. Needles Hwy. Glad you enjoyed my back yard.
Indeed. Consider the communication distance between Custer and Bentene - miles without radio communication.
This is one of the best video’s we have watched on your guys channel. We are full time RVERS and don’t make a plan EVER!! It adds too much stress. We’re supposed to be having fun.
You guys rock!! Thanks for the great coverage of our home state of SD.
I totally agree that the person who places rocks at dump stations should be recognized by the RV Hall of Fame. 😊
LOL whoever came up with that idea is a "real man of genius" for sure! :D
I do love traveling by "the seat of my pants" as well! Also, two thumbs up to the fabulous shot of Kristy next to the lake with her hair dancing in the wind!
I’ve been to that Cabelas and Common Cents in Rapid City quite a few times in the last year.
Enjoyed the “sloppy episode”. Them‘s the best kind!
It’s not the destination, it’s the journey.
Love your humor as well.
Thanks for sharing!
Ram🤙🏼
Footpull on the bathroom door - yes those are awesome. Should be standard code lol
This the way I prefer to travel !! No plans because you have your home with you everywhere !! The best freedom 😜
The Little Bighorn Battle site is very special place. You can almost hear the battle taking place.
They say it is one of the most haunted spots anywhere, and many of the staff, including the college kids working in the summer have stories about getting the bejesus scared right out of them. Not a place to be at night, they say, the battle goes on.

Yes! The Needles Highway is Awesome. The views are spectacular. I've been through there by car and motorcycle.
Hello from Chapel Hill. Just visited Little Bighorn in July. I agree with you that it is indeed a stirring place, made especially so by the single grave markers situated in the middle of the fields. Safe travels.

"The unsung heroes that leave the large rocks by the dump stations" LOL hilarious.
Nice. Just love seeing the wind flowing through her hair.
I like "not having to own the land". Just enjoying it in our RV is quite enough for us.
1981, I stopped in Custer, Montana for gas on a trip. I talked with the gas station attendant about the amount of volcanic ash they got from Mt. St. Helens in 1980.

@@LongLongHoneymoon if I had to use one word to describe it, it would be "jammy." Think of a really tasty alcoholic jam for a piece of toast.
You guys the smoke is mostly gone in north western montana if you want to come get the last month of warmth before fall starts.
Wow lucky . Lost the TB to hail in south Florida
Loved your “sloppy” episode! Keep things simple and real.
You never disappoint! Humor is contagious, love it
I had heard after Bass Pro Shops bought them they started to get rid of the dump stations and maybe overnight parking. 🤷♂️
I like the week in the life of an full time RV’er concept.
Sean, next time you are at Nomad View and need to dump, go to the north end of Wall and you'll find Sleepy Hollow Campground & RV Park. They will let you dump and fill water for $10.00 and you're on you're way with NO searching.

Hi my wife and I stayed at the exact same spot in the Badlands September 4 2020!
Love the "sloppy" episode! Do more of these!
They make it look so easy!
You should have entered SEEMORE in the Classic Show 😂. Loved the video that’s the way we like to travel but maybe even slower. 😎🇺🇸🛻
This is one of the best road trips ever. Right up my alley!
The best thing about RV travel seems not being tied to one place. Love the waterfront comparison. 13:18
The post hailstorm pics were both eerie and beautiful! I love binge watching your videos!!!!!
The music and video of Little Bighorn NM just left me in tears.
Good times for sure. We live in Ontario, Canada. We are both so lucky to live in amazing countries where we can enjoy such beauty and freedom.
I noticed your lights under the trailer. I had a old timer give me a very good tip. I'm using solar power motion light under my trailer. When anything cross under, the light scares them off. Works like a dream!!
This is exactly the way we want to travel! Lynn and Danny
This is one of my favorite episodes!
Just about done with a 3 month trip (our first) from VA Beach to CA and back again. Our best experiences were the unplanned ones, especially once we got our boon-docking game on.
Used rapid city cables last year Dump was behind the store water on the side. Also stayed overnight.
That rapid city cabelas allowed overnight parking last year. Bummer if they stopped.
They have stopped, but the Billings still allows it. I agree it's a major bummer if they have stopped for good. We need to figure out a win-win arrangement for all of these stores. (ie. store purchase in exchange for overnight and/or dump stations).
Iron mountain road is a good one in the area to drive. If you come from Custer state park. You will get an amazing view of mt Rushmore
What a joy to not be bombarded with TH-cam adds. Thank you. Long, Long Honeymoon.
I enjoyed the no plans travel adventure and a car show outside of a winery is a winner in my book.
You guys travel the way we do. We love to just go and plan along the way. Makes the adventure so much more fun!! Thanks for sharing. We are really enjoying your content!
Now I know what we are. Nomad RVers. We were in these areas this
Summer. Always wonderful. Thank you.
You need an extra set of wheel blocks for the back of the truck to lift the tongue.
Blessed to call the Black Hills home. We’re usually good for at least 2 good RV wrecking hail storms a year.
David. Slow down. 11 western states in a month is ridiculous.
We find your videos funny, inspiring and very inspiring. Especially your funny epilogues.

Oh wow. Good thing you missed that hail storm!
Totally a lucky break!
We drove by both the Nomad View in the Badlands and that horse camp in Custer in July. Fun to see you at both too!
You guys are so Blessed to be able to do what you do. I love your videos, even when there is no particular subject other than living life.
We enjoy mozying. Perhaps when we retire we will be more able to thoroughly enjoy. Time crunch to get back to work sucks! Thank you for a great episode
I totally stopped at the Rapid City Library to take a work meeting - I was lucky enough to grab one of their quiet rooms

Not anymore. They recently closed it. We went in to ask to make sure, and they confirmed that they no longer have one.
Dump stations at cabelas are closed in MN too....might be covid related.
This is a more down to earth video as to what full timing is all about. 😊

Oh, btw: I drove around my local Cabela's last week. It's down the street from where I live in Garner, NC. I didn't see any RV amenities. Sad.
I really like your “Out west Camping”. I wish you would go East and maybe try Stone Mountain or go to Tybee Island or Dahlonega or Helen GA. And maybe we could meet at a campground in GA.
More of this please. Love that part of the country.
I'm too much of a planner, I fear. But I enjoy seeing others being laid back in a way I could only dream of doing - ha!
We constantly are told that all RV parks are full and you can’t find camp sites! You have proven that’s not true. Very encouraging for those of us who have been putting off getting into RV life. Thanks!
Quoting Curley, perfect.
Great job, as usual video from Long Long Honeymoon is fun and informative to watch....
Both times we camped at Nomad View, we used the gas station/RV park in Wasta, only 13 miles from Wall. I think it was $10. We got potable water there too.
That was a fun, informative travel video... Thanks for sharing, Happy Labour Day weekend to you both. :)
I like your casual attitude towards traveling. Planning is stressful. I like the plan of having “no plan”. Roll Tide ! Dan and Cindy Lakeland, Florida
I'm jealous. My trailer's holding tanks are too small!
So glad to see “unplanned” works as I am NOT a planner and always heard to travel west I need reservations. I’m a “wing it” Fly by the seat of my pants so happy to see options.
Watching this video, as crazy as it sounds, changed my whole negative start to a Monday to a positive one! Thanks!
Thanks much, I really appreciate your kind comment! Hope you have a great Monday!
Great video! +1 for the classic cars!
We definitely must have passed you at some point probably in the Black Hills. We are planning a day in advance mostly and take great pride in avoiding interstate travel. Our luck finding dispersed camping around Custer ended at a campground just like you!
OMG! I was holding my breath as you drove though that tunnel.😬
Sean and Kristie, did you ever stop and see Crazy Horse monument? I hope they are able to continue the dream and finish it.
