    AFFILIATE LINK DISCLOSURE: Friends, making a quality Loloho video is kind of like making sausage - only slightly more violent. It's a ridiculous amount of work that typically involves high dollar camera drops, blue-screen-of-death computer crashes, and at least one angry shotgun wielding old man shouting, “Hey! Get the hell outta here!” Once the final video is posted, rewards here on TH-cam are few and far between (unless you are a masochist who enjoys being verbally abused by anonymous trolls). One saving grace is our affiliate links. JUST CLICKING THESE LINKS HELPS TO SUPPORT OUR LITTLE SHOW. Think of this clicking as like tipping - except that it doesn't cost you anything extra! If you eventually make a purchase via one of our affiliate links, we will receive a few pennies (and Sean typically invests these pennies in duct tape and video gear). Again, it doesn't cost you anything to click these links, and it's a great help to us. As always, safe travels, happy camping, and THANK YOU!

Sorry Kristi, you guys just set that one up way too well. I think those hooks by the picnic table are for Coleman lanterns which had a much more romantic glow than the harsh bright white light of the modern LED "lanterns". Keep the good stuff coming guys.

    Just last month we stayed at Meaher State Park in Spanish Fort, just south of Mobile. It is a great park. Good, level sites that are not so close together. Full hook-ups with showers and a great laundry at reasonable prices. The staff was great, the gate to the park closed at 6pm and you needed the gate code to come in. I was very impressed with such good surroundings in a state park. We would stay here again.

    When we’re traveling state parks are generally our first choice for several reasons that you mentioned. They generally have one or more hook ups, lower nightly rates and can be easier to book than national parks. State parks are often closer to towns and amenities than national parks and easier to access when traveling. Welcome back, and safe travels!

    Great video! We have some very nice small State Parks in Ohio that are run by the watershed departmet. They have nice cement pads and are very clean, a bit expensive and like this park not much privacy BUT they are a great place to stay at the start of season to shakedown and prep for the season, they are also nice to use the last weekend of the season to clean out and winterize (Northeast Ohio). Maybe we will see you on the road this summer. We are heading to Gros Ventre Camp, Idaho/Stanley and Glacier in August. Safe Travels!.

    State parks are gems, and probably where we camp the most. We live in Arizona and enjoy Dead Horse Ranch and Kartchner Caverns mostly, but others are wonderful. New Mexico has so many wonderful state parks, as does Texas. Seems like National Parks have the excitement of being in a truly nationally-recognized special area but as such, there are limitations as to what you can do and getting in to reserve a campsite can be such a challenge. State parks (and county parks) are so much more relaxed and a great home base for traveling around that particular region. Both are different experiences, though, but I agree with your assessment. Oak Mountain looks wonderful!!!

    • @LongLongHoneymoon
      @LongLongHoneymoon  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yes, a few years ago I was speaking with some friends while we were camping on some bureau of land management land out west. Our friends commented that they did not really feel comfortable camping in national parks due to the restrictions with regards to pets and going off-road and so forth. Of course the national parks have the benefit of so many beautiful natural areas and I certainly understand they need to preserve those areas. But the state parks have a lot of freedom going for them, and with freedom often comes fun. I think this particular state park is operated in a way that profoundly benefits the community because so many enjoyable activities are made available

    We spend time snow birding in the south ,the only Alabama State Park we have stayed at is Gulf Shores. We have stayed at a few COES in Alabama, Gunter Hill and Deerlick Creek. Yes about equestrian campsites, they often are overlooked. In Florida this year we had trouble finding a campground and found an equestrian one with openings. I told them I had a Pinto, so is it okay to stay? They said I didn't need to have a horse to stay. A little bit out of the way but less that $20 a night water, electric, and bathrooms with showers!

    We were in the Black Hills last week and the campgrounds were mostly empty. Maybe 1/4 to 1/3 full but there were almost no families there. Most all the RVs were huge fifth wheels and class As with older retired folks in them. A few of them had their grandkids with them. Our lodge owner said the economy is killing families and they can’t afford vacations so the kids are going out with grandma and grandpa. One campground only had one family in it with kids. After several hours of rendering and re-renderring the vid, I thought I had it 100% fixed. Thankfully TH-cam has some tools online that allow some minor "editing" after the fact -- so I will try to insert some music over the part that is messed up. This is one of those irritating mistakes that will annoy me for years! I will inform The Wife that Chito says it's time for a new computer...

    Excellent video on Oak Mountian State Park. Every August I go to Monte Sano State Park for the Huntsville Amateur Radio Ham Fest. The state has redone most of the sites to include sewer connections. Have you stayed there and what did you think about it? Thanks for all the great videos I enjoy all of them.

    Hi Sean and Kisty, funny niether one of my ex-wives would be helping with the hot water heater. Beautiful and helpful, Sean you are a lucky man. With not being able to film in national parks anymore I am now doing more state parks. The main problem with state parks is the weekenders. They have no camping etiquette, don't know or don't care. My generation the only way you would ever pee in a sink, was at a crowded concert. LOL This looks like a cool park. So you can fly drones at that park? Safe travels. Don

      @LongLongHoneymoon  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      LOL I have seen a few things at crowded concerts also! 😂 Yes you can fly drones, so long as they don't catch you. (Just kidding! It's really OK.) You are right, I'm lucky to have a wife who is so handy -- I think she has more natural "fix it" ability than me (she inherited it from her Dad). Thanks Don!

    We have that same tool to assist in opening our windows. Looks like a nice, refurbished park! We tend to like a few more trees for a little shade. What are those hooks for anyway? The playground upgrade is really nice. Yes, back in our day slides were made of METAL. LOL. I think the A loop would be more our vibe. Thank you for the very thorough, hilarious review of this park. 😁

    • @LongLongHoneymoon
      @LongLongHoneymoon  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yes, the B loop has always been more exposed to the sun thanthe A loop, although I think some trees were probably lost in the recent renovations in the loop and that makes it seem even more barren. In a few years, the trees and landscaping in a loop will flesh out. Thanks for watching in the positive feedback! Always nice to hear from someone who understands the hot metal playground slide 🛝! 😂

      Honestly, there was a weird audio glitch about 17 minutes into the video when I mentioned the mountain biking trails! I was very frustrated when I saw that the glitch made it into the final uploaded video. So there is that part in the video when I show some mountain bikes, but there is only music in the background. My voice got lost in the mix. Oh well, we will keep that between us. 😂

    as far as the water heater, thats a thing of the pasted, i installed a 20 gal electric water heater (bought at home depot for 300.00) plug in in and in 1 hr, 20 gals of hot water continueses, the heater in the camper i got tried of replacing the heating cord, or the rod, i remove the unit and now its a storage space, there junk!, my new heater is on the front hitch area, and each time i relocate to a different spot, i empty the heater due to the weight, 20 gals is far better then.6 gals ?

    • @kristymichael

      We boondock a lot, so our 6 gallon hot water heater is a good motivator for quick showers! 😆 That helps us stretch out between dump station visits too.
