So which is your favorite? You really cant go wrong with any of these buggies but there are definitely some things to consider before buying! The build quality on the new 104001 is much better compared to the others but its slower.. Decisions to be made 😅😎👍
Being new to the hobby, I think it's pretty cool a company is taking a chance putting out a few "less expensive" models out there. I for one am into racing and 1/10 scale is for me. However, seeing a handful reviews of the 104001 ( they really should come up with names lol) I've seen the weaknesses of the 1/10 and would have to upgrade a few things to make it better. I'm new to your channel and what I've seen is really good so far, keep up the good work and 🍻 cheers from USA 👍

Hi there beyondRC, I'm a newbie and have learnt a lot from watching your videos. I'm looking to purchase my 1st rc buggy. Have my eyes set on the 104001 (I want it abit bigger), But am disappointed to find that it shares the same electronics as the smaller RCs. Is there anywhere I could buy the 104001 with a brushless system, a better gear ratio and a bigger better battery? (on the site it says stay safe, do not use a 3s battery - why is that?) I have never owned an RC buggy before and wouldn't know the first thing about doing the conversion myself. Also, if one were to convert to a brushless system, how much additional cost would it require approximately and how fast could it theoretically go up to? Ps: can't wait to see your conversion video, although I really don't see myself being able to do it myself

Wltoys names are easy, 124019, 12th scale, 4wd, model 019, 104001, 10th scale, 4wd, model 001. Getting it? Theyre very descriptive. (And no, I dont work for them, ive just figured out their naming after looking at a bunch of their models.)
When you deal with part numbers every day like I do, you start to see patterns.

Nice comparison! I have always been thinking about getting the 124019 (the purple one lol) as an entry level RC car, but now i guess the smallest one is just fine for trying out the hobby.

Wanted to thank you for your videos. I was super into the hobby when I was a teenager and had a nitro t-maxx. A friend recommended wltoys and yours were the first videos I went on and honestly your passion inspired me dude! I know have my own 124019 and I'm building up my bits and bobs. Well how is the 124019 treating you? Have you broken many parts? How much did it cost to get the parts (if needed) to your location? And if you don't mind could you tell me the battery you use?

I have a 124017 V2 coming. I've had 1/8, 1/10, and 1/16th cars of various types. I think a 1/12 brushless should be the sweet spot. I plan on putting alloy steering knuckles on it and leaving it be.

.My friend, the 144001 is a fiddly little thing but once you make those wheels align all hell brakes loose. Brushed 540 can in 2S lipo is more than enough to keep up with huge and more powerful Traxxas. Mine, sort of "out of the box", and with this I mean that I did have to fill the diffs and align the wheels, on stock 2s went over 33mph... Love my little WLToys...
Agree totally. I’ve run mine on a 100’ skidpad on 2S and was 90-100% throttle. Very controllable super mild drift. I have others that are 4 times the cost that don’t do that.
I have 3 WLT's including the 104001 and it just amazes me what you get for so little money.
Great vid Ricky, interesting to see all 3 together and have an in depth honest review. For anyone starting out there's also the one that kind of started it all with the 1/18 A9 series. It's also a shout to Wltoys to ditch the stupid naming and that damn 5 wire system 🤣.

I missed the A959 but hear so many good things about it i may have to get one and see how it compares to the new ones. I agree mate they need to start giving them proper names it gets very confusing with all the numbers. It took multiple attempts to get parts of this video right haha! 5 wire needs to go!
@@beyondRC I have the a949 which has the rally body, it's crazy fast and on our skatepark it drifts brilliant. I've got a full set of metal upgrades I still have in their wrappers 🤣

I have a 144001 myself, and I really like it. I think that the 144001 is very durable, partly because of its low weight, especially when compared to the 104001. The lower the weight of your car, the less inertia it will carry, thus is a crash, less broken parts because there is less force in the crash (brief middle school physics explanation ends). I haven't broken any parts in more than a year of owning my 144001 besides the stripping the stock servo (I replaced the servo with a 3 wore drop in servo, I also changed the ESC to a brushed Hobbywing ESC, and upgraded the radio/receiver to a DumboRC set).
The 144001 is one of my all time favorites it just offers so much for the price! Nice to see you stayed brushed most people go brushless. Have always found even with a brushed setup they are great!

@@lancekreis3645 I tried them once last year. Ordered an $100 RC Car.. If never came..It never shipped ... Had to get a refund , which was kinda tricky.. Bad experience indeed .. Think I'll pay the extra $50 and get a 104001 shipped from California
So what exactly is the advantage of the 104 over the 124? I can't see any reason to spend the extra. Of the three the 124 seems to be the sweet spot. Am I missing something?
I will explain the names well numbers the first number is the scale the 4 is for four wheel drive and the rest are the model number like 001 is the first model. This is what I was told from a friend who is a big fan and from China . He’s a student at stony brook university I hope that helps a little.
I'm already confused about those numbers, could you just name them somehow? red, purple and new?

Whatll i be doing with the 104001? Easy. Track, possibly racing. Shes gonna get a new servo, brushless motor, esc, and a dumborc gyro included radio system as soon as she arrives (whenever they get around to shipping her T.T I want so bad...) also, as was pointed out on another channel, this buggy NEEDS a slipper clutch, so I will be rigging one to fit because otherwise she will destroy the pinion gear off jumps. Sadly the pinion is crappy metal, and the driveline shock from landing is too much for it.

Can u take the center drive shaft out of the 10th scale and pit it in the 12th scale?
so why are purple buggies faster than 144001's stock??? i think tires and gearng is the same as well as all electronics?maybe the 2200 2s gives more power? but i think purple buggy is a few ounces heavies do to larger chassis and battery... thanks

As the front is really open it's easy to damage the front suspension. Are there good front bumpers that are somewhat larger then the stock version?

Is the 124019 RC car water resistant?
purple buggy is best stock car imo... i still do not have one,but watched many video's on it... whats best is you can install a very powerful motor,esc,battery in purple buggy with no issues finding location for those upgrade...in 144001 it is a pain and you need to hack up the car to add a powerful brushless setup... purple buggy does cost 20-$30 more...
The 124019 ran great for me but the receiver melted after an hour.
You have the slowest stock 144001 I ever saw !
Even my oldest 144001 with stock motor and +200 battery pack is faster, must have some unusual friction somewhere if you cannot go faster than 30 MPH !
i like the Feiyue FY03H 1/12 2.4G 4WD Brushless RC Car better than wl toys stuffs they got that unit in SCT and a few other brushless /brushed set ups..or this Feiyue FY07 1:12 2.4G 4WD

@@beyondRC Sorry, wanted to write 124017 (7 as final number) second version. With brushless motor 4300kv, Wltoys builds it directly.
@@filipporandi7411 yes they are amazing, a friend bought one on sale for 140$ , they can also take 3S and do 50mph .
Go bigger get longer run times with larger batteries. The smaller ones don’t carry the 3000 plus mah batteries very well

Been in and out of the hobby since 1984. The 104001 is my first Wltoys and I was impressed with it overall for its price. The 1/12 brushless version will be my second wlt and I hope I won’t be disappointed.
My last 1/12 scale was the Team Associated RC12L with mechanical speed control.

104001 is trash cause the chassis bends way too easy!! The bottom aluminium plate isn't reinforced! It's just a flat alu plate
are all three still durable?
They are known for being quite durable but not as much as the HBX 16889 and haiboxing range

Now i figuered it out as well and ezy to remember.
German here, and i just bought 2x 144001 for my sons birthday one & one for me so he is not alone driving 😎 Can not wait to have fun with it.
I have seen full upgrade packs on ebay for 40-50€ to replace any part with metal ones. Not sure if i should get them now.

Why not just call them Evolution, Fierce, and Match? It literally says the names right on the sides of the cars.
because everyone in the RC world knows them by the numbers. WLTOYS and HBX are known for using model numbers instead of names. Watch any RC channel and you will see the same. cheers
@@beyondRC I know everyone calls them by the numbers. They also complain about doing so, and how confusing it is. It just seems like a simple solution to just call them by the name on the side of the car.
@N8911trbo it would be easier but like I said it's not what these cars are known as everyone in the hobby knows them by the numbers as confusing as it is that's what we sign up for with these cheap Chinese Rc cars. Have you seen the green a959? What's on the side? Headphones! Who calls an rc buggy headphones? Again stupid names mean it's back to the numbers. If I called my rc friend up right now and said I just got a great deal on a match he would say.. what bro? I mean 104001.. ohh the wltoys. Yeah.. its the way it is dude! Have a good one
People here think just because they are cheap and has a toy word in the brand they won't accept the fact that it is a hobby grade rc but rather a toy grade. Let me break it down to you these things are very dangerous for a kid to play crashing it alone will take some serious damage to someone's feet🤣 and try also jumping it to hit someone's head and let see if he/she doesn't end up in hospital.

124019 is fast and brittle. The best car they have is 12429. It's durable fast enough and runs along time on a charge. It's good on all terrain.

Save your money and buy the Arrma Typhon 3s and be done with it. I am sorry but WLtoys is a toy not hobby grade.

Why do British people call it a 550?? It’s a 540 that’s what it’s called and even the 380 you guys say 390 maybe it’s different from America 🇺🇸 but it’s just weird hearing them called by the incorrect name. 540-380 K .
550 is bigger than a 540 dude it's a longer can 😅 same goes for the 390. Maybe research different motor sizes and can sizes before being a smart arse haha cheers 😅👍

It's great you can afford such a good buggy but not everyone can. For some who just want to see what rc is about these 'knock off junk toys' are ideal. Have to remember your budget may not be the same as others 🤔👍

I'm just getting back into RC after having a manta ray and hopper 2 a very long time ago. In all honesty, should I even look at Tamiya cars? I was looking at something like a Fighter Buggy, cheap and cheerful but these WL cars look great for the cash. Is it a no brainer ? Should I just ignore Tamiya?
I think only buy tamiya if you genuinly miss tamiya from your youth etc. Modern day rc cars are miles apart and way better in performance terms! I love my tamiya hornet but its been used once this entire year :/
