This is true for at least 90% of the women on the 'next top model' shows. Some might just do it to be on TV or to get some money out of it, but at the end of the day it's unlikely that they'll succeed. We've all heard the stories about top models being scouted while walking on the street or being on some school trip. And even though that does happen, it's far more likely that people submit their pictures themselves or someone does it for them (nepotism plays big part too). So if they already sent their pictures to a couple agencies and didn't get anything back... slim chance that it'll happen after the show. I hate writing this down cause it makes me feel vapid and like I am contributing to a system where women are valued for their looks, but that's what modeling is after all. That's why it's often funny to me when the judges keep telling the girls to get a personality. As long as their walk is good and they have all the shoots down then who cares? Not like models are expected to interact as much as possible with everyone around them, people are just there to get the job done and then move on with their lives.

Honestly anyone can be a model....it’s just people who are at the “top” decide what the “beauty standards” are. If they like what they see than you are a model. It comes down to personal preference. It’s sad that people still do that to this day and people wonder why there is so many with body image issues. From little kids to adults people are beautiful and perfect in their own way. However no one is necessarily above and beyond more “beautiful” than someone else. This is true for at least 90% of the women on the 'next top model' shows. Some might just do it to be on TV or to get some money out of it, but at the end of the day it's unlikely that they'll succeed. We've all heard the stories about top models being scouted while walking on the street or being on some school trip. And even though that does happen, it's far more likely that people submit their pictures themselves or someone does it for them (nepotism plays big part too). So if they already sent their pictures to a couple agencies and didn't get anything back... slim chance that it'll happen after the show. I hate writing this down cause it makes me feel vapid and like I am contributing to a system where women are valued for their looks, but that's what modeling is after all. That's why it's often funny to me when the judges keep telling the girls to get a personality. As long as their walk is good and they have all the shoots down then who cares? Not like models are expected to interact as much as possible with everyone around them, people are just there to get the job done and then move on with their lives.

Honestly anyone can be a model....it’s just people who are at the “top” decide what the “beauty standards” are. If they like what they see than you are a model. It comes down to personal preference. It’s sad that people still do that to this day and people wonder why there is so many with body image issues. From little kids to adults people are beautiful and perfect in their own way. However no one is necessarily above and beyond more “beautiful” than someone else.
