  • Part II of my 346k Mile 2016 A7 TDI Prestige! This beautiful, one owner, absolute unit of a car recently underwent major open heart surgery receiving a new (used) engine! She's back and better than ever! In this video, I go through the service history ($58k of work done at Audi that I know about), give a walkaround of the car, and try to figure out what to do next (do I tune it???)!

    I' m Spanish and have one of those, it's stage 1 tuned, with 300 HP and 680 Nm of torque, and it's a beast!!!!!!! Just an sporty car with an incredible 25 MPG average fuel consumption.
    The problem of the tune is that the Stronic (here, in Spain, this car suites dual clutch trans) will suffer . But in your country, where suites the automatic trans (zf 8HP), the tune is a must!!!!!

  • @ProductionsJoe
    @ProductionsJoe 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    The stuff the extended warranty covers usually fails because of the emissions system anyway. They're extremely reliable once deleted, get a signficant MPG boost and the 80hp extra on a stage 2 tune is a good bonus.

      The dieselgate extended warranty covers everything that sets of a check engine light. If the code wouldn't have came up when he went to have them do the diesel gate inspection, he could've got a brand new engine.

    Whoa, the previous owner replaced all injectors and DPF, that's very good.I also have a 3.0tdi Phaeton with 160.000miles.
    I suspect the new engine have the original chains so it's still a problem for the distant future, not to worry about but just change oil at 7k miles max and 5w30 only!

    Have paint correction, revivify nano-coating/ceramic coating,PPE AND be aggresively early on your oil changes (Audis recommended oil change interval is total BS) - less dirty oil circulating internally.The additionally factory warranty is short - chances are you'll encounter more problems and headaches. Tune it and that torque is enough to make you swear and possibly smile like the Joker

    Do you recall, my DPF went out a month after I bought my TDI and it was covered. So many super expensive components are covered under that warranty, if you read it. It is the only reason I bought the car because otherwise, it was an expensive gamble. $1800 for labor. My VW dealer wanted $1k to replace the thermostat on my TDI. Crazy! F you're states fees. Your A7 looks really nice, when I bought my MK6 with 62k it wasn't this clean.

    isn't the recommended oil change interval 5-10k miles for the TDI? I think there's a gap between 235 and 255 and huge gaps after that. (or maybe it's just not written down in the list) but if so, this certainly didn't help.

    I'd leave it be and enjoy it or tune it. For youtube views, tuning it is going to get more attention. Check your local laws regarding emissions equipment, especially prior to posting on youtube. I had a BMW 335D years ago and loved the power and fuel economy. But the BMW regularly wanted to check-in with the mother ship at the dealership and none of the local shops would work on the diesel beast. Before selling it, I cleaned the intake and replaced the MAF Sensor to clear a check engine condition. I couldn't believe the amount of crude the EGR had deposited on the intake, I scraped off loads carbon crude. Good luck, I hope you post more adventures about this car.

    • @danielcars367

      I live in AL, so minimal laws besides the federal ones and no emissions inspections! People here who delete diesels really only get hosed when they go to trade them in and the dealer doesn’t want to buy it! I’ve always wanted a 335D! That’s actually the car that got me into diesels - I was in high school at the time, watching loads of Top Gear wondering why we didn’t have diesels in America, and then bmw dropped the 335d! All these years later and I’ve still never driven one! I’m working on an update video now, been about a year with the car, I paint corrected it and basically rebuilt the front suspension chasing a small noise - she’s doing great!

    I have to admit that deserves some respect. Most people would just scrap or junk a car with that many miles once a repair costs a certain amount. Kudos to you sir for keeping a well used Audi on the road. As far as what to do next? Maybe update the infotainment and sound system? Lovely looking car as is so doesn't really need much in the way of body kit mods. Tune it for sure at least to stage 1/1+.

  • @the_famous_reply_guy

    The drive back to home chewed the engine up for a reason, and I suspect swarf and debris in the oil pan, it should have been dropped cleaned or replaced to remove the sediment and sludge. I think the previous owner did smaller journeys which didn't disturb the good and dirt in the oil pan, a state to state drive will push so much oil around the pan it into the oil circulation like a shaken snow globe.
    Its so unfortunate because it would've been interesting to see this car go 500k or a Million miles on one engine like a Toyota, Honda, Saab, Volvo.
    The bloated sensor based electronic system and German analysissy has turn the A7 into a cost computer. As nice as the previous owner seemed he knew or felt it was going out, or else he would have driven the wheels off it.
    I know that sounds mean but in the car trade I've had plenty types of people lie to me that where wealthy, upper class even a children clown. Poorer social people tend not to lie as easily because they have a sense of guilt that chews them up.

    Audi dealership was reaming him with no lube 🤦🏽‍♂️ $500 oil changes!? At my indie shop I supply my own oil and filters, $67.50 for the service 😅. Honestly dealer services is why most ppl go broke trying to maintain luxury vehicles. Find a reputable Indie shop and pay just a fraction for the same work.
    For example, I saw he paid $3500 for fuel injector replacement 😮‍💨. I own an Audi A5, obviously different vehicles and engines. But I can get 4 for $268 if going with Bosch, which is OEM exact as Audi just minus the branding which is around $900. My shop charges $105hr. Let’s just say it took 4hrs (they’re relatively easy to get to, probably a 2hr job) the total would be $688 before tax let’s just say $750 out the door! Even less if the job takes less time.

    Questions2 - Where or what brand software to update the MMI? And have you entertained deleting it and Malone Tune?

    • @danielcars367
      @danielcars367  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So apparently all 2016’s came with the hardware to enable CarPlay, but only 17+ had it enabled from the factory. There’s a thread on one of the forums that goes into how to do it, involving downloading a bunch of bash files onto an SD car and loading them to the car.
      It’s a pretty technical (and glitchy) process but there’s a guy mentioned in the thread that will do it remotely for like $50.
      I’m still so tempted to take it to Audi, have them do the recall, and get me 4/48k mile warranty! But like at the same time that’s gonna kill the power even more and yeah there’s another huge part of me screaming “who cares about the warranty just delete it and have fun”
