Just found this vid and it’s everything I need. Heading to Bodo in January with lads who fish there all the time. Despite knowing that the rigs out there are basically pimped up versions of what we use over here it’s good to see what is actually involved in making them and the dimensions etc Also good to see an SKM lead in your hand (I’m a good pal of the bloke who makes the moulds) 👍
Don't forget sun screen stops wind burn even on a cloudy day and shades !! Make plenty of notes for me out in Lofoten, all going well be out there in march 2022!!
I enjoyed that mate, I'll be watching the Norway 🇳🇴 videos after this. How did you go about booking the Norway trip, was it with a travel agency and if so what one did you use. Cheers mate
Hiya mate, thanks for watching and make sure you subscribe. The lofoten trip was through sportquest holidays while the bodo trip was done off my own back but we booked accommodation as saltstraumen brygge 🎣
@@fishtales9688 UK. Also do you think the Nomura rod would be any good for general pier fishing. Powerful and not too long so I was thinking of getting one.
@@rhyswilliams1413 in the uk I’d use a heavy up and over for my ray, cod and smoothound fishing. I will also use a lighter up and over with small hooks and beads for plaice. Pulley rig can be used for everything, great all round rig. Heavy mono pulleys for bull Huss and eels mainly for myself. I’m yet to put the nomura rod to action as I’m saving it to use in Norway. But definitely strong enough for messing around on piers.
@@fishtales9688 cheers Tom, i thought maybe you'd need a certain bead for the thicker mono. I don't normally go above 60lb here in cardiff but will be trying for a huss this weekend down your way
@@fishtales9688 thanks Mate, have been fishing since I was 5 but never tried bait fishing from shore before. But this is going to change this year, was not aware that there was so many spots to fish halibut from shore in Bodø. Have seen many 100+ kg as a scuba guide i Saltstraumen so i know there are some big once out there. Let me know if you ever need some logistics help in Bodø. Happy new year 🥳
Hi what do you recommend I take for my leads ? I'm going saltstraumen in march ... I was going to take 6oz gemini breakaway , ? .. cheers gir your help in advance ❤
Great video carnt wait for the vids from Norway let’s hope you have a fantastic trip with plenty of fish
Best of luck . Enjoy norway . I'm lucky I live here 😃🤣🇸🇯🇮🇪

I’ll be doing a vid out there mate so keep an eye out
I'm out there in March too. I've been looking at bog boots but cant seem to find the studded ones anywhere?
Brilliant video, I find a knot puller so much more easier and professional than a pair of pliers to pull knots tight.
Best way to tie a pulley that figure of 8! One continuous length of mono and the knot ensures the trace stands off every time
Some people say be shown it to aren’t keen on the figure of 8. I love it though, been using it for years and it’s never failed
@@fishtales9688 same here, used it for 20+ years and NEVER had one fail. Wouldn’t do anything else
Great video l use a lead instead of pliers on the Splashdown.
what size main line is used for the main rods/
I normally use 30 lb straight through in the UK for cod fishing or 25 lb and shock leader?
I use either 20lb or 25lb mono depending on the brand and a 80-100lb mono leader
what do you guys think of Circle hooks, I noticed a lot of fishermen from the UK rarely even mention them as an option, very opposite of the US?
Circle hooks very popular on the boat in Norway. It’s all down to preference from the shore, I know boys who use circle hooks as the pennel in Norway
@@fishtales9688 thanks for the great tutorial 🙏

How did you find your bib and braces mate? Been looking at getting the trousers and jacket
Spot on mate, well worth the money
Great video very informative.
When would you use an up and over instead of a pulley?
Hiya mate, is that question in regards to using the rigs in Norway or the Uk?

What about the Nomura as a Pier rod?
@@fishtales9688 ignore my last. I didn’t see your full reply. Thanks you and hope you have a cracking trip to Norway.
What beads are you using on the heavy mono Tom?
The ones on the rig body are just 8mm beads and the pop up ones are off hippotackle on eBay

Hey how many times do you use the rig before changing it with a new one? Sincerely TJ Bodø 🇳🇴
Hiya mate, I’ll use the rigs as much as possible until the snoods are bad or the hooks are bad
