Hammered Coins | Metal Detecting Ancient Lands
What a fantastic way to start 2025, first session of the year on new ancient land that I’ve been very fortunate to secure. This land has extensive history dating back to the Bronze Age and of course rich medieval history. The day started of great with plenty of musket balls and a cut half early doors. I then went onto finding the Tudor hammered sunbathing in the frozen soil. Wayno and myself had 5 fields to go at and we visited 3 throughout the day with the first field being most productive. I had 3 hammered for the day and Wayno had 4. Couldn’t of asked for a better start to the year.
Both Wayno and me were using the Minelab Equinox 900 with 15inch coils to cover the ground we were working.

Last detecting session of the year spent with my Dad on one of his permissions. The weather in the day was extremely windy with the odd shower, so like a fool I decided not to film the days finds. The day started of pretty slow with just the odd modern coin and bits of tat showing for myself and the odd toasted George 3rd copper coins for my Dad. Just before lunch I hit a nice line heading back...
Metal Detecting | Double Silver On An Epic Day

Another epic day detecting, not a bucket load of finds as I’ve been on this field a lot just free roaming and gridding by eye. Today’s session I used my flags to tightly grid over ive already done…goes to show that you always miss finds. Over the moon with the beehive thimble, such a great bit of history. The Vicky Sixepence and hammered Eddie Penny was just the icing on the cake for a great se...
Metal Detecting Uk | The Tudor Field Is Finished With Double Silver
มุมมอง 360หลายเดือนก่อน
This afternoon I finished off gridding a field down here in Pembrokeshire which I call the Tudor Field. It’s not an overly large field and it’s just shy of 10 acres. It’s produced some amazing finds with 14 silver items and plenty of stunning artefacts such as buckles, strap end, spindle whorl and a purse bar. The coinage has been good and includes: 2 x Elizabeth 1st Sixpence 1 x Elizabeth 1st ...
Triple Silver | Metal Detecting Tudor Lands West Wales

A belter of a day on the Tudor lands of West Wales. I continued gridding the field I’ve been working on the past few sessions and it’s still producing the goods, however it definitely has its hot spots as I’ve had man sessions with the odd mice find. Today was definitely a hot spot session. I’ve only got about 3 or 4 acres left on this to grid then I’ll be onto the next field which is right nex...

Here we have another fantastic day metal detecting session here in West Wales. The amount of musket balls I’ve had from this field from all the sessions is making me think that some sort of battle or training has taken place here. I can’t wait to get back! Machine: Minelab Equinox 900

Metal Detecting | Silver On New Fields | A Hard Days Digging

Here we have another Metal Detecting session here in West Wales. In this session I decided to do a bit of field hopping on the Tudor Farm in search of any hot spots on fields I have not been on. The day was hard with a few bits up including musket balls, buttons, toasted coins and a very strange shaped bit of Silver….watch the video to see what it is! 🏴⚔️ Machine: Minelab Equinox 900 Pinp...
Metal Detecting | Treasures On The Tudor Fields
มุมมอง 7562 หลายเดือนก่อน
Here we have my first attempt at a metal detecting video, all hand held recorded as I currently don’t have a harness mount or a nice tripod. It’s not professional in any way but just a detectorist out enjoying the outdoors and finding some good history. This area that I have been working in part of the field has now produced many hammered coins and Tudor relics, hence I have now called it Tudor...

Here we have it my first metal detecting video! Apologies for the ratio as it was filmed to go on TikTok which you should all go check out on the link below! This was the first day on a new permission on the first field I chose to go on. The field was generally very quiet with the odd Victorian coin here and there. Following the advise of the farmer who told me that there’s an old pathway going...

Someone's stolen my metal detecting identity 😂 I take it as a complement wayno 😊 good luck on the new permission 🤞
Thomas you are better on the metal than on the fish
Back on the bass in a few months boss 🎣 done with bait fishing. Going to Norway and coming back here to catch tiddlers just ain’t the same 🤣
Good video dude, plenty of signals! Great hatrick! That silver searcher is jammy as well ain’t he!😂
More jam than Hartleys
Good effort, not been out this year yet so that's motivated me 👍
Nice one mate 👍🏽
Got to love a musket ball, and yours are big uns 😂 Brilliant finds on the Hammereds One of my bucket Listers for this year is believe it or not a Florin. Thanks for sharing Maria 🍀
We had so many musket balls on that field! A florin is a nice bucket lister, I’ve found a 1914 George V florin. Bucket listers for me is a hammered shilling, silver milled older than George 3rd and a gold coin of any type ⚔️🏴
Wow superb dear so how much dollars it machin
£1100
Watching and dreaming from the United States. Great video
Thank you 🙏🏽
Hi nice meeting you hey are you ever fishing around Billy ill watch your videos keep the faith
Around Billy?
Fantastic Video! Are the reels identical on the Penn magnetic cast vs casting special on the Squall II & Fathom II reels? I have found out that the Fathom II reels sizes 12 & 15 already have the magnetic cast but they have a small dial not the big knob. And they make "Casting Special" in the Fathom II. The Squall II only in size 15 Is the protruding Knob the only difference between Magnetic Cast and the Casting Special Reel?
@@707SonomaComa I haven’t got a clue unfortunately mate
Nice one mate, Nadolig Llawen 👍
Cheers mate ⚔️🏴
Nice one 👍
Thanks ✌️
Great day again Tom nice hammy great Beehive thimble and the sixpence yes the Druids token nice iv found a few in the past well done .
Cheers mate! ⚔️🏴
Well done son! Cracking day 🎉
Cheers bro! ⚔️🏴
The big coin you found is a druid token mate I've had two
Spot on mate thanks for the ID, I was clueless what it could of been. Thought it may have been a medal due to the thickness
Have you sold your fishing gear or what 😂
Nooooo still got all the gear. There will be some fishing up when I go out with the camera 📷
what is all that waste on the waters surface??
Foam from hot water
Defo gonna enter the 2025 tournament. Can you use fly as well as spin techniques? Cheers Tom
I’m not sure to be honest mate
Well done Tom you have done brilliant on that field 👍
Cheers mate ⚔️🏴
Thank you for the video. I swapped the power handle on my fathom 2 cs for a Gomexus double baitcasting type handle. I just find them a bit of a better balance for me. I was promptly told that the double handle wrecks the pinion gears????? Something to do with the angle the handle is cranked at?? I'm a bit confused to be honest. How can the handle chew the gears? Thanks again for the video.
I’m not sure to be fair mate, always been fine on my reel
Subbed mate , will have a gander later !! Just out atm 👍
Awesome thank you!
Loving these videos mate. Great to see the history 👍
Cheers mate! Appreciate the comment 🙏🏽
Gteat day detecting and a nice groat mate but it's William 4th not george 😊
Cheers Ben, I’m aware now. Wasn’t too sure when I found it. My first of William so I’m very happy
@fishtales9688 I would be buzzing with that mate cracking coin to be fair 👍
Great video again Tom the gridding you do as paid off great silver the Lizzy is a cracker mate good detecting that for sure you got good land there well done keep it up 👍
@ cheers mate 🙏🏽
Good days work there, fair play
Cheers mate, was definitely worth the effort!
Brilliant mate. Thankyou
What happened to the fishing videos?
They’ll be back mate, just enjoying this hobby too at the moment. Will be converting the page to ‘Pembrokeshire Outdoors’ soon.
Well done Tom great spectacle buckle lots of musket balls the button is a Napoleonic button 1800 century I found one last month in Pembrokeshire 👍
Well done Tom good video again the purse bar is a great find 👍
Cheers mate 🏴⚔️
The first hexagonal pencils were first introduced in the mid 1800's 😉
Must be Victorian then happy with that date range. Thank you for the information 🏴⚔️
Hi there. Awsome video where can get the new mag control please
I ordered mine off eBay a few years ago
@fishtales9688 thanks alot I just found them on ebay and bought 2. Thanks again. Love your videos.i live in cardiff .
I’ve fished that mark a few times now great fun on the lures! I found if the pump isn’t on though it can be dead 😂
@@michaelcleaver3 it can be hit and miss sometimes mate. Fished it before when it’s been pumping and not a sniff all day. Thats fishing for you
@@fishtales9688 that’s why we love it! Glad to see the bigger fish are there too as I’ve haven’t had any over 2lb. You know when it’s on before you get down as they’ll be jumping like something off blue planet
When do you find that mark stops fishing bud? I got a few Carmarthen way which are just slowing down. I only lure fish though
@ haven’t fished there in years mate but it fished all year round with the bigger ones being about in winter
How do you choose a place to catch halibut (by what signs)?
@@IronMan-wp1ek they are at most regions in Norway. I prefer northern Norway. 25m depth of water and relatively clean ground. That’s all I look for
@@fishtales9688thank you 😊
Great video mate. Thanks for sharing
Thank you!
Is that Watick Bay?
Sure is
Excellent first metal detecting video, good effort!
Cheers mate! Got another coming soon but the finds aren’t as good as this one 😂
The CR on the lead seal may be Charles Rex and looks right for a 17th Century cloth seal
Cheers for the identification mate, that would fit in with all the other items I’ve found in the field 🏴⚔️
@@fishtales9688 As the powder measures look at items called Apostles and how they were capped in the English Civil war and these lead are the caps that fit on the small wooden containers which held enough for a single musket shot and were hung on a belt that was worn over the shoulder and that is what the loops were for. The lead cap would stop any stray spark from setting the charge off
Fantastic finds. More history saved. Best wishes and happy hunting!
Thank you 🏴⚔️
Well done 😎
Cheers mate 🏴⚔️
Well done, good video , I Enjoyed this, be good to get a bit more explanation of the land/ history etc !
@@PegasusBridge1 thank you, the land is rich in Tudor history. There’s some trackways running though it that I can see in the 1830s maps and had a small village nearby again rich Tudor history for the village also.
Awesome can't weight to try it
🤣
u should leave those jobs to someone who knows wot they doing
@@alanjones3968 cheers for the view Alan! Bet you still watched it all you fool 😂✊🏽💦
Brilliant video, thanks a million buddy! Your video gave me the confidence to have a go. I did the same thing with a washing machine a few years back....... it's still in bits in the shed 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks mate, to be honest it’s all the fun and learning taking things apart. I didn’t have a clue what I was doing but I still filmed it 😂
Very good job 👍
I got the replacement nob from black dog £3.99
I think i got mine off eBay at the time, can’t remember how much for though. A lot of people I know say black dog is great for parts. 🎣
Are all you're main lines on the reels braid or a mix of braid and mono?
@@Clowningabout001 all mono mate
@@Clowningabout001 apart from the spinning reels. They’re braid
Any tips for a few marks to get on some halibut? Im planning my firet trip over there soon 👍🏻
@@Clowningabout001 what area?
@fishtales9688 I'm looking at Bodo mate, but will be hiring a can/van to get about for the week 👍🏻
@@Clowningabout001 I suggest going to stay at ‘Paul’s House’ search for that on Facebook and drop them a message
Where do you park Tommy?
Message me on the Pembrokeshireoutdoors page on instagram
How deep did you fish?
Depends what mark you fish, for the halibut I aim from anywhere between 15-25m but they can be caught at all depths!
Might try one if it didnt have “gomexus” emblazoned on the side of it
Does it really matter if it does?
@@fishtales9688 im sure there are many people for whom it doesnt matter. There are also many who dont care for the massive cornball branding on the side of an otherwise nice looking piece of kit. Normally the gigantic garish branding of random nonsense words or brand names is characteristic of chinese goods on amazon and temu. If gomexus is different they should distinguish themselves by not designing their products like other cornball chinese products.
Looks like a fair bit of pollution there mate
@@huwmainwaring2355 just foam in turbulent water, really hot water meeting cold.
Could you explain what the purpose of the wires are that you put in and then remove after the weight hardens ? Many thanks , Great clear video by the way
It provides a hole while the lead sets in the mould, you take them out so you can then assemble the lead with the wires ready for fishing 😊
@@fishtales9688 Ah that makes sense now . Many thanks for the reply
Come to Værøy one day
Is it good shore fishing?
Been there today at an RLNI open day. Being a local lad and fished pen anglas, porth clais, dinas head, strumble head on the boat I never realised how big the breakwater is and also the possible marks for conger, mackerel, wrasse, pollock. How do I get access to fish this breakwater?
The outer breakwater is accessed with angling clubs in Pembrokeshire mate. They’ll hold matches on there every so often.
