That also happens in India dude. I am an Indian. Generally I prefer to travel reserving my seat in express trains to avoid crowd. But the scenario you are talking about is visible almost everywhere. Sadly, i am not that much proud being an Indian... Because, people don't really want to understand that, being just a developing country, India strongly needs to control population. I am 35 years old, unmarried.... And I love to stay like that....

Hundreds of trains in India flip over ever year from "crying": that's because everybody's hanging on the sides, windows and standing on top! Only way to fix it is to place periodic gateways along the tracks too narrow for people to fit through when the train passes through them...or create absolute closing doors on each cab...or electrify the exteriors when moving...

I have been in this situation as a teenage girl when visiting Delhi. I wanted to get off the train and the crowds kept pushing me back inside. I literally had to fight my way out because everyone in my family got off. It was the time when we didn't have cellphones, I would have been lost. 😅

I experienced this yesterday at evening rush hours here in Mumbai. Coming from the US, it's an intense and insane experience. I started at CSMT, so I was actually able to sit down, but couldn't get off the train at Ghatkopari with so many people pushing to get on. I was able to get off at the next station after pushing as hard as I could to get through the crowd of people.

This is just a suburban train. Compared to this the Mumbai Metro is safe, clean and comfortable. In fact India has really got metro railways. So if want a comfortable ride just take any of the metros instead.

Commuter trains in Japan are also crowded, but not as much as this.
But I was relieved and impressed that even in the midst of so much chaos, everyone in this video is holding their backpacks in front of their bodies. The same mannerisms are also found in Japanese trains. I think it is very good that people can be considerate so that their luggage does not bump into others and cause trouble in crowded trains.

This is like the Philippines MRT station back in 2016-2019. Only less people of course since we are less populated. But in terms of passengers behavior, they're both chaotic.
But now, due to new train cars and huge developments in the Philippines train systems, everything is much more organized than ever. You can actually sleep in our trains already, it's really cold and comfortable to ride on.
Believe me same crap happen in ladies compartment too. I use to travel from Mumbai local. It is not population or technology Main reason is that majority of companies is situated in same place. You will find this crowd only in peak time.otherwise trains are empty. I left travelling and started working in office nearby.
