Can I ask some stupid questions? 1. Is Xenoblade different than Xenogears? 2. Is Xenosaga a game itself or is that just what the Xenoblade series is called 3. Same question about Xenoblade Chronicles
@LN-Lifer Xenoblade Chronicles is the full title of the original Xenoblade, so Chronicles is a part of each game title but people typically skip it for the sake of simplicity. Xenogears and Xenosaga are the names of separate series of their own. They are, however, created by much of the same development team and have been becoming more relevant with each entry.
One thing I like is that you talk about games that aren’t normally appreciated as much as in the gaming community. Sword of Vermillion on the Genesis was my first action RPG but I was a bit too young to really get into it. When I played Super Mario RPG when it first game out on Super Nintendo is what sealed the deal for me on RPGs going forward. You are right, it’s a good entry into that genre.
I LOVED playing Let's Go Pikachu with my daughter because Kanto is my era too! So fun and nostalgic!!! Crisis Core was the reason why I got a psp back in the day and it was so so amazing. I still need to play the switch version :) Great great list!
I've been looking forward to Part 2! I have SOOOOO much catching up to do but thank you for the incredible list and the beautiful stories about your memories with the games!
I haven’t played through them all yet but for me the best traditional Switch RPG for me is Sea of Stars. I loved TTYD remake and I’m currently playing through the 11 main Final Fantasy games that are on the console though! Also, Xenoblade 3 is at least better than 2 and with the DLC it may be better than 1!
Xenoblade 1 is a flawless. Story is amazing (The best love story I ever played in gaming), an open world that is fun to explore (most of them getting boring really quickly) and battle system is amazing. It is unique with the time warning mechanic, and very well balanced. Even the "worst" character in the game, Sharla, is still not bad. She saved for most of the game, although my final party was without her. About Crisis Core. Really good game. The combat is simple, but you can create so many crazy builds. Because why not to create a materia that gives you 999% HP boost. Story is also good, but I'd say you should play ps1 FF7 at least up to the end of disc 1. It helps so much to understand the story that way.
Very cool seeing several older games mixed in. They’re classics for a reason! It looks like there’s a bigger contingent of Let’s Go fans than I thought. Lots of people are echoing what you said in the video, and I had no shame in saying that it was my preferred way to experience gen 1 in one of mine:
I was pleasently suprised when i played harvestella, a very fun game even the farmiming wasnt bad the one flaw is my character design just kinda weird seening my male character with child baring hips 😂😂
I was the same way with Xenoblade Chronicles 2! I thought it was gunna have too much anime cringe, but ended up still loving it! I don’t get the hate for Rex, but I also hated the gacha walls…. I loved Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 3 MORE; but XC2 was still magnificent! Man I need to play that Star Ocean 2 remake!!
Dragon Quest XI is also my first and only DQ game so far. I tried 7 and 8 and it never clicked for me, but this one looked so good, I couldn't resist. In fact, I'm playing it right now. I'm in the post game and I loved every second of it. 🥰
Honestly, I've gotten so many games for switch that I feel like I haven't played which stinks. But easily, the game I've put the most time into is FE Three Houses. That game teleported me to another world during COVID and while I was going through a really lonely rough patch in college. I'm so grateful for that experience.
Am a little surprised a trails of cold steel or persona game didn't make the list. With three houses I feel it had a better story then engage but engage streamlined the combat mode.@@femtrooper
@@atifghafoor6258 I don’t like Cold Steel haha I played it on the Vita and unfortunately hated it…and the Persona games I have played on Sony consoles.
This list is soooo great! So awesome to see some love for Dragonball Z Kakarot. This was such a fantastic game. Dragon Wuest XI is a fricking masterpiece and one of the very few JRPGs I actually finished more than once. Also, if you like XBC1 and 2 you'll very likely loooove XBC3 - it's my personal favorite of the three and my favorite JRPG on the Switch.
Very cool, unique list! I love when people have lists that are super different compared to mine. I’m curious: what did you think of Octopath Traveler? I didn’t see it anywhere and it seems like you’d love those games.
I dropped it a long time ago because I just couldn’t seem to progress in Chapter 3…it got so grindy and I was spending hours going nowhere. I feel like clearly I was not playing it properly but I’ve talked to so many people who have said the same so I really don’t know. I’m willing to give the second one a chance because I heard they fixed some things!
The Thousand Year Door port is beautiful. I've just started Harvestellar, I'm not sold on the combat yet, but its early days for me at the moment. Super Mario RPG did not disappoint 😁 Let's go Pikachu is the only Pokemon game I've ever finished 😂 I've never experienced any Dragon Ball, not a single thing. DQXI is definitely top tier 👌
Great list! DQXI was THIS close to becoming my all time fav Switch game too. If Act 3 didn't slow the pacing down by turning into a backtracking grind fest it would've been an all time favorite JRPG to me. Also I didn't care for how time traveling wiped away everything that happened in Act 2 including your parties character development. I took a break from finishing it a few years ago but your video is inspiring me to pick it back up and see it through to the end.
Good list! I love RPGs and just finished Sea of Stars. I would HIGHLY recommend it. It is truly something special and definitely is inspired by Chrono Trigger 🔥
Just finished Dragon Quest XI S. I can see why it’s a #1 game. Act 2 was such a tear jerker for me. The emotional scenes with Rab, Sylvando, Selena and Veronica really got me. Also the Hendrik and Jasper bonus scene in Act 3. What a great cast of characters. Shame about the silent protagonist though.
I've played Kakarot after your recommendations and thank you! As a fan of the series I wasn't that excited for another game because I came across a lot of bad ones, but this one was really nice Also, have you tried Live a Live? I think it matches your style
Yay! So happy you enjoyed Kakarot! I tried the Live a Live demo but actually didn’t really like it so I still haven’t played it! Not sure what the deal was. Just wasn’t vibing with it.
Love all of the Xenoblade Chronicles love! Really hope that they remaster X so I can give it another go. All of this Harvestella talk is making me want to go play it sooner rather than later. I just had someone else tell me how much they were enjoying it. Think I’ll pencil it in for September. Great video as always!
Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition was the first jrpg I ever played and quickly became my favorite game of all time. I’ve yet to beat 3, but I love Xenoblade so much.
I'm sure this list will change as some more fantastic games come out. Definitely love this list though an that top is incredible if you don't mind me saying 😊
Hearing you talk about DQ 11 makes me want to replay it, i agree with everything you said, was my first DQ game aswell, not played earthbound yet, so i compare it to ff9 , they are nearly tied for me, both perfection. Think my second favorite switch exclusive jrpg is astral chain, really enjoyed that. I'm waiting untill star ocean second story R goes on a decent sale, it hasnt yet in EU for me. Great video, glad i found out about your channel from the colab with Johnny, your videos have been an exciting fun atmosphere to watch.
Amazing list, and so glad you've got Xenoblade on here! Paper Mario TTYD is ridiculously gorgeous on Switch, I'm amazed how the developers made the game look so good! ❤
This showed me I really need to play some more JRPG’s! I picked up Dragon Ball Z just now because of this video and I know NOTHING about the series so I’m super hyped to play it! Excellent video
Great picks everywhere. I have to say my favorite is The Thousand Year Door, it was one of my all time favorite games as a kid and the remake did it such justice. Especially those new superbosses and all the new area specific battle music. Not counting remakes or stuff available on other platforms though, it's gotta be Fire Emblem Three Houses.
I recent got Star Ocean The Second Story R. Can't wait to play it! I remember playing the original version way back in the PS1 days, and it remains one of my fav rpgs on that system.
Dude, out of this list, I've only played Super Mario RPG on the snes, but you got me interested in all of these!! I think I'll get Harvestella soon, I'm very curious but I was worried it was too farmy.
I really liked Mario rpg even though it’s really easy, it’s got a lot charm to it. Guy in the comment section mentioned sea of stars, now that was a good throw back old school style jrpg
If you liked Harvestella in its mix of action-RPG and some farming, there is a strange Japanese themed game that has a similar concept, Sakuna of Rice and Ruin. Harvestella better story, but Sakuna has way better combat (side scrolling action with combos) and you only farm rice, you just get good at learning one crop between action levels.
@@femtrooper agree that Sakuna is a lot of fun and worth a try. Harvestella is definitely more grand in scope and story, whereas Sakuna feels more intimate like a Blue Reflection type experience, and the rice mechanics can be very addictive.
Some super interesting games on this list! I just finally picked up Paper Mario for the N64 at SoCal and got into it. I am hooked, it’s so cool and now I’m excited to get into the rest of the Paper Mario titles. Great stuff here!
I know I've said this before but I hope you get to play Chained Echoes. I don’t want to hype it up too much but I look forward to your review at some point and it may make it your top 10 one day :)
Great list. I would recommend playing Baten Kaitos HD remaster. At least the 1st one. It's in my top 20 for sure (not on the level of DQ 11 but still fun). There are scenes in the game that look like you are walking through an impressionist painting.
great list! agree that harvestella is fantastic!! a few games I'd add to my top ten would be smtV V, persona 5 royal and TOTK. Botw probably had a greater impact on me, but ganondorf alone pushes it ahead in terms of anticipation to get to the end.
Ahh man there's so many JRPGs that make it on my to-play list, I always forget to try out Dragon Quest XI. One day I'll get around to it. I'm a sucker for Akira Toriyama now. Also, I wish I could experience DBZ for the first time in JRPG format!! Jrpgs and Dragon Ball Z were my two favorite things growing up. Eventually I'll have to play Kakarot too, if nothing else than for nostalgic purposes
I have most of these... some on the Switch or the Playstation version... honestly though, everyone you mentioned that overlaps with my collection is on my pile of shame ( 7 or 8 of 10 you mentioned). Keep it to the Switch... I'd go with the Crossbell Duology (that series has contributed to my backlog....). Thanks for sharing you picks!
I really enjoyed this series for a top 20. The best thing was I own these so my wallet is happy. A fun and varied selection with quite a few 2024 games! Wonder what the next year will bring?
DQXI is a respectable choice at #1. My personal favorite would have to be either XC 2 or 3. Also, now I need to try Harvestella and Dragonball thanks to Femtrooper.
Great list. I didn't even know there was a Dragon Ball RPG on Switch, I thought they were all fighting games. Plenty of other games I still haven't played on there. Harvestella pains me the most. It's been on my shelf for a long time now, but I just didn't get to it yet. I've played the demo, so I'm sure this is something I will enjoy. But the more I think about it, the more I feel there's not that one standout RPG on Switch that I immediately would say it's the best. Dragon Quest XI is very good, of course, but to me, since I only played the first version, it doesn't quite register as a Switch game yet. I do really want to try that 2D mode, though. As for games missing that I'd really recommend, my first thought went to the Atelier series. So many of them on Switch. All very good games. I guess you could count Blue Reflection as an honorary Atelier game. I also love the Trials of Mana remake, really well done remake that keeps the spirit of the original (unlike some other Square Enix remake...), it's just a joy to play. Can't wait for Visions of Mana in a month (though that's not on Switch, of course). Hmm...no Ys game? I'd definitely put Ys Origin on my list. Disgaea also almost never gets mentioned, so I'd nominate Disgaea 5. And finally, since you had retro collections on your first list, and I think I've mentioned this before, but the Etrian Odyssey collection is really good. That's it. Thank you for your list. I had a lot of fun watching it, always nice to see someone being passionate and positive.
I've been sleeping on Harvestella. It looks so good! Have you played Torna - The Golden Kingdom yet? If you enjoyed Xenoblade 2 I am certain you would enjoy it.
The immediate gut punch I felt when she said her first experience with DBZ is through that game 😭 imagine how the kids and teens felt watching the show growing up
I just got Unicorn Overlord physical and DBZ Kakarot digital for something a little more easy going, also at behest of one of my work friends. Got a lot of cheaper buys recently so my backlog is getting slightly more daunting. Combine that with what I want to play on Gamepass and I’m set for a while.
I must be the same generation as you for that Kanto justification haha. Also with the newer ones being kind of a let down (even though I liked sword/shield and Legends Arceus more than you) If you're a pokemon fan like us you gotta show them some love on a JRPG list. I have picked up all of these games and Can't wait to get round to playing them. Especially Xenoblade and Harvestella...oh and actually Star Ocean as well. Another great vid.
@@JeannieLove Really good game. Also the fact that the game let's you play the in between sagas helps for character building. You get to live as Vegeta during the timeskip before android saga, and build your relationship with Gohan before Raditz.
Dragon Quest 11 is my top 2 jrpg games on the switch and i've had a long hard think about this but other than Dragon Quest 11, I cant think of any large scale traditional jrpg on the switch. Xenoblade, Persona, Fre Emblem are all great games but they are not tradtiional in the same sense. Octopath traveller is great but its not as large scale as Dragon Quest. Chained Echoes comes close but its an indie jrpg, we really need more bigger tradtional jprgs like Dragon Quest on the switch.
Great video. You have nothing to apologize about your list. You have fun with the games that you enjoy. And screw anyone who gives you crap for it My list is going to be very different than yours as I've only played two of the games you listed : let's go Pikachu and dq11. 1) Persona 4 Golden 2) rise of the third power 3) Ys8 4) Valjyria Chronicles 5) Sea of stars 6) DQ11 7) unicorn overlord 8) fell seal arbirors matk 9) Ara Fell 10) metroid dread
xenoblade worked out better for me b/c I grew to love the combat, you said it felt a bit grindy, meanwhile I grinded in that game for fun, I adored it on the wii but still awesome to see it high up for you
@@markasscop Xenoblade 1 is one of the easist grinds if you know how to cheat it. The solution is simple- Level down the characters not in your party and get stuipdly high Exp for them. Also the game has high level enemies all around.
I really love Let's Go Pikachu also! I was obsessed with Pokemon Go for a time so for me it felt like a natural bridge between the app game and classic Pokemon.
Excellent list! I’ve played Persona 4 and Persona 5 but on Sony consoles so that’s why they didn’t make this list! XC3 I plan on playing very soon, really want to try SMT V Vengeance, own Ys8 and can’t wait to try it, and I also own Octopath 2 and Sea of Stars! Just need to play them!!! :)
I was going to give my sister the final fantasy 7 recore for switch but she hasn’t played the mainline final fantasy 7 games can she play this and not the other ones? She only has a switch
I recommend playing Final Fantasy VII before playing Crisis Core as it’s a prequel and is more fun when you know the characters already. Final Fantasy 1-12 (besides 11 since it’s a MMO) are all on the Switch!
Hey Femtrooper I can agree with your liking to Zack from Crisis Core! I really took a liking to him as well. And if you haven't been told today you're beautiful you are Paige! I enjoyed the video. I can't wait until next Monday for your next video. Have a good evening!
Ive only played the Lets Go Pikachu demo, but it didnt manage to convince me to buy the game. That being said, given that we are about the same age, Kanto and Johto are my regions as well. I dont like the new Pokemon games too much, but I really yearn for the old time Pokémon simplicity.
Dont forget to play the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Torna The Golden Country expansion before Xenoblade Chronicles 3 its amazing and probably my favourite Xenoblade game. Ys 8 Lacrimosa of Dana and Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance should be a priority to play next, they are so damn good 😀
not a single game but a series of games, the xenoblade chronicles games. the were the reason i bought the switch and ive never regretted it

Wow! What a list! I really want to try Monster Hunter Stories - should I play the first one or just go straight to the second?
@@femtrooper I actually never played the first one! I jumped into the second game when it released and didn’t feel like I missed anything tbh
I really liked Mario rpg even though it’s really easy, it’s got a lot charm to it. Guy in the comment section mentioned sea of stars, now that was a good throw back old school style jrpg
Yeah SMRPG is super easy but it’s so damn charming! Just a good game overall!
After seeing your list, I am torn between buying Harvestella or Blue reflection to buy on eshop sale right now.. Any suggestion?
Out of the two 100% Harvestella. It’s a far better game BUT I enjoy both of them! I also think the sequel to Blue Reflection is better too.
@@femtrooper alrightyy!! Thank youu!!
Sounds cool actually!
Thank you! :)
Some good rec's. Currently playing 'GAME 10'.
Nice! It’s a great time!!!
Hey Paige, great list, one of my favorite on Switch is Octopath Traveler, need to play the second one and go back to DQ XI too...
Definitely finish DQXI! I dropped Octopath years ago unfortunately because it got so hard and grindy so I would like to try the second one!
I know I've said this before but I hope you get to play Chained Echoes. I don’t want to hype it up too much but I look forward to your review at some point and it may make it your top 10 one day :)
I’ve actually been avoiding it because I want a physical copy but maybe I should just play it!
@@femtrooper Unfortunately I don't think we'll get a physical copy as the team who made it is very small :(
Great list. I would recommend playing Baten Kaitos HD remaster. At least the 1st one. It's in my top 20 for sure (not on the level of DQ 11 but still fun). There are scenes in the game that look like you are walking through an impressionist painting.
Amazing! My friend has been recommending it to me as well so I should probably get it!
Great list I brought that Dragon Ball game because of you now I need to play it.
YESSSS! Enjoy!
great list! agree that harvestella is fantastic!! a few games I'd add to my top ten would be smtV V, persona 5 royal and TOTK. Botw probably had a greater impact on me, but ganondorf alone pushes it ahead in terms of anticipation to get to the end.
Thanks!!!
DBZ in JRPG format is AMAZING!!!
Of course!!! Thank YOU!
Last week, Blue Slime was walking back and forth. This week, he’s playing peekaboo.
🤣🤣🤣
I really enjoyed this series for a top 20. The best thing was I own these so my wallet is happy. A fun and varied selection with quite a few 2024 games! Wonder what the next year will bring?
Hopefully some bangers!
DQXI is a respectable choice at #1. My personal favorite would have to be either XC 2 or 3. Also, now I need to try Harvestella and Dragonball thanks to Femtrooper.
Yay!
Thank you for the great comments!!! Really means a lot!
Good list one game I just finished was Final Fantasy 16 and that was amazing.
Fantastic! Always fun to play a FF!
I've been sleeping on Harvestella. It looks so good!
Have you played Torna - The Golden Kingdom yet? If you enjoyed Xenoblade 2 I am certain you would enjoy it.
Haha I hated Torna LOL but loved Xeno2…didn’t like the community thing at the end. XDDDDDD
I had to be Dragon Quest 11 twice! Once on the PS4, and then I replayed it for the S version
Amazing!!!
The immediate gut punch I felt when she said her first experience with DBZ is through that game 😭 imagine how the kids and teens felt watching the show growing up
I was one of those kids and teens lol I’m from the 80s haha but I was a Sailor Moon kid not a DBZ kid.
Solid pickups!
Thank you!!! Love to hear it!
Kakarot is an excellent intro to DBZ. All the action without having to wait 10 episodes for a battle to end.
@@JeannieLove Really good game. Also the fact that the game let's you play the in between sagas helps for character building. You get to live as Vegeta during the timeskip before android saga, and build your relationship with Gohan before Raditz.
Omg totally!!! So fun!
You neeeeeeed to play xenoblade 3!! And future Redeemed!!! Best games in the series and as a fan it’s sooo satisfying to see thru
Can’t wait then!
Xenoblade Chronicles is my favourite ❤❤ I hope there’s more of it in future
Me too!
Great list. I actually enjoyed The Thousand Year Door a lot more than Origami King 😄😄😄
I love them both! I don’t consider The Origami King to be a JRPG so I didn’t include it but it would be in my top games for sure!
Think dragon quest 11 might be the best jrpg on the switch. Best one I’ve played so far . Just starting ys 8 tho
Hard to disagree with that! It’s phenomenal!
I really need to play Chained Echoes!
Hi FemTrooper You Should Try To Play A Physical Release Of Disney DreamValley For Ps4 And Ps5 In The Future
I have heard it’s a cool game!
Definitely agree on xeno 3. Changing it to Japanese made a world of difference. The English accent was just odd
Agreed, just doesn’t fit the game at all!
Great video. You have nothing to apologize about your list. You have fun with the games that you enjoy. And screw anyone who gives you crap for it
My list is going to be very different than yours as I've only played two of the games you listed : let's go Pikachu and dq11.
1) Persona 4 Golden
2) rise of the third power
3) Ys8
4) Valjyria Chronicles
5) Sea of stars
6) DQ11
7) unicorn overlord
8) fell seal arbirors matk
9) Ara Fell
10) metroid dread
Great picks here and some I need to play myself! I have Ys VIII but on PS5 so hopefully soon! Beat P4G on the Vita years ago and loved it!
@@femtrooper you need to play rise of the third power. It's amazing. I need to play harvestella.
@@toolman4745 It actually looks super good!!!
Best top 10 selections👍👊 I have 7 of em😊
Fantastic!
Xenoblade 2 might be my personal favorite, despite it's shortcomings such as the pseudo-gacha ability system and the awkward pacing at the beginnig.
Yeah, it’s definitely flawed but I still had the best time!
Love your vibes
Thank you!
Yeeesss I LOVE this list!! DQ11 GoaT ftw!!
Yay! Thanks!
I love how you Canadians say Mario. Both you and the Happy Console Gamer say Mayrio. 😬 Super Mayrio. Paper Mayrio.
Awwwww yeah!
xenoblade worked out better for me b/c I grew to love the combat, you said it felt a bit grindy, meanwhile I grinded in that game for fun, I adored it on the wii but still awesome to see it high up for you
@@markasscop Xenoblade 1 is one of the easist grinds if you know how to cheat it. The solution is simple- Level down the characters not in your party and get stuipdly high Exp for them. Also the game has high level enemies all around.
Yeah, super grindy on the Wii! Way better on the Switch!
love this channel
Aw thanks!!!
I really love Let's Go Pikachu also! I was obsessed with Pokemon Go for a time so for me it felt like a natural bridge between the app game and classic Pokemon.
Amazing. Glad to see other fans of the game!
Play these if you haven’t:
Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Persona 4, Persona 5, SMT V Vengeance, Ys VIII, Fire Emblems, Sea of Stars, Octopath 2
@@femtrooper AH Great thank you!🔥!
Where did you get that Mother sweater?
TeePublic!
These are all on my backlog or I've played and really enjoyed them.
Yay!
DQ11 was so good I can't help but worry 12 won't be quite as good. As in 11 set the bar so high I don't know how they will rise above it.
Same, I have the exact same worries!
You should play star ocean first departure. It’s really really good.
I’ve been meaning to!!!
Ooh so no Trails in the Sky? I thought for sure that would have made the top 10 RPG list.
Don’t think that’s even available on Switch - this is just Switch JRPGs! And maybe someday I’ll play that!
@@femtrooper Oh yeah my bad. they usually carry most of these JRPG games.
Hey Femtrooper I can agree with your liking to Zack from Crisis Core! I really took a liking to him as well. And if you haven't been told today you're beautiful you are Paige! I enjoyed the video. I can't wait until next Monday for your next video. Have a good evening!
Aw thanks! Tuesday tho! Hehe
@@femtrooper oh is it Tuesday you do the uploads? My bad. Lol I work 2nd shift so it's always weird when I come in. I get confused.
Ive only played the Lets Go Pikachu demo, but it didnt manage to convince me to buy the game. That being said, given that we are about the same age, Kanto and Johto are my regions as well. I dont like the new Pokemon games too much, but I really yearn for the old time Pokémon simplicity.
If you want the true older experience, play Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl but if you need to be in Kanto, Let’s Go certainly scratches that itch!
Are you excited for dragon quest 3 hd 2d?
HYPED!!!
Dont forget to play the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Torna The Golden Country expansion before Xenoblade Chronicles 3 its amazing and probably my favourite Xenoblade game.
Ys 8 Lacrimosa of Dana and Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance should be a priority to play next, they are so damn good 😀
Haha, I’ve played Torna actually - beat it recently but I didn’t like it XDDDDDD the other ones I wanna try tho!
@@femtrooperThat's a shame well at least you still have Xenoblade Chronicles 3 its amazing 😀
I thank you for helping me.🙏 😮😊
I still need to get let's go Pikachu for my kids for sure
Definitely! It’s so good!
I LIKE when you smile.😊
Thanks!
You are a kind honest person.😇 😊 ✨️
You are a good nice person.👍 👌 😊 ☺️
I really need to pick up star ocean the second story r don't i...dragon quest xi really nice to replay expecting the Hd-2d erdrick trilogy
I can’t wait for the remake of DQ3!!!
