    I’ve worked in industry doing water ingress testing. A lot of the water around the edges that looked like it made it into the case only did so when you took the panel off. A certified test allows you to dry the exterior and cracks before you take a panel off to see only the water that made it in

      @Jakob Unless you're constantly working in remote locations and needs constant/fast/reliable connection to the internet. Obviously regular people wouldn't need a mobile server (portable hard drives would work for that). But when you're talking about big industrial/applications in the middle of nowhere dealing with constant information exchange (Scientific exploration, for example) a large, portable, offline server would be genious. Good luck uploading 24 TB of footage and documents to Google Drive in the Amazon forrest.

      I can't think of any good use for it other than being something you can leave out in the rain. Just quickly explaining the IP43 raiting
      4- "Protected against solids greater than 1mm" - Dust is much smaller than this so dust can still fairly easily get through, and it absolutely won't help in factories as that stuff can and will get in
      3- "Protected against water drops up to 60 degrees from the vertical" - Basically only rain proof, as if you hit it with water from greater than 60 degrees from the top it can get in and damage the system.
      It wouldn't help in the event of floods, as that isn't coming from the top so it'll still get in just fine. And you (obviously) can't submerge it because of the above. I really think this case is a solution looking for a problem.
      Edit: I forgot that this case has a HEPA filter. This would absolutely help in factories where the components would get absolutely covered in gunk normally.

    Actually a pretty good idea to make a more industrial version of this for use in machine shops and the like. I can imagine the modern cnc, 3d-printing and cad modelling worker would be quite a good market for a thing like this.

    • @km5405
      @km5405 6 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      that makes sense, because full on industrial gear is more expensive and more of a hassle and a case would just fit standard pc components without exposing them to the harsh environment of the shop.

    • @Synthmilk
      @Synthmilk 6 ปีที่แล้ว +35

      This case was made for a shop enviornment it seems. That heavy duty steel construction can probably take a good beating before the waterproofing is compromised.
      And that HEPA filter is perfect for any machine shop. I can't imagine how many systems die from the build up of fine metal dust causing a short.

    • @Synthmilk
      @Synthmilk 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Zipp4Everyone that would do it, though a high dust environment would kill the efficiency of the heat sinks since they tend to be totally exposed.
      I suppose cleaning it off daily is worth it to never need to worry about leakage or dust on the inside....

    • @Manxer
      @Manxer 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      This is what I was thinking as well, lot of modern workers are combining their offices and work shops into one. You have saw dust and who knows what in the air and having one of these would allow you to work in CAD or game in said space. Heck this may even be good in foundries for CNC mill systems where there's black dust everywhere, those environments you have to swap out a pc every year or so, this may actually hold up.

    • @TheHareidGamer
      @TheHareidGamer 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And you can find them on most new serious installations. They come from several manufacturers, pretty neat.

    • @JETWTF
      @JETWTF 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      No a certified water resistant case can be made right now and with the water helping the cooling. One can be made to go to the bottom of the Mariana's trench even with a no fan heatsink setup because it is very cold down there. Anyone with a metal shop and a tube of car engine gasket sealant can make one for a swimming pool in a couple days. It would require a custom water cooling loop and external radiators and some RC boat props with the motors in their own sealed environment to replace the normal fans though.
      Is there a market for such a case? Not really. If someone needed one? They would take any PC case and have it modified to suit their purpose because it really isn't that difficult to do.

      tin2001 The load on a pc that is encoding all the video from two cameras on the fly for pushing live streams out is very high. Under normal conditions an I5 is pushing a 75-90% load. The nature of the beast says that the PC needs to be cooled well. If i were only web browsing or something like that the machine would undoubtedly last much longer. The high demands and a clogged fan led to the CPU being heat damaged. I have since built a box with fans and filters to put the new PC inside of. The live streaming is the key factor here, the demands are just too high to function in a really dirty environment that long without precautions.

      Other thing is, if you want to have pc for cnc router or such machinery on shop/next to machine. I other hand would need this cause my cat tends to sleep top of my Thermaltake box and i really dont like that cat sand+hair on my 300€ GTX 1060 -.- Also i'm maker, so there is plenty of dust anyways on my pc, as my workshop/table is also my main media center (yes i know its kinda odd system)

    • @Akkordinator
      @Akkordinator 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think watercooling would have a few advantages in that... case (ba dum tss), because the filters on this thing look like they would clog up pretty quickly and dust can still come through it and also enter through the back, when the fans aren't running.
      With watercooling you could completely seal off the PC and just move the radiator(s) outside. For power supplies water cooling isn't really available, but there are silent, fanless ones you can use. Stick to SSDs and network storage and that will be OK without cooling too.
      I can also imagine a Case that has big open sides with air filters in them and only outwards blowing fans on the underside could work great (and be simpler). Air would enter slowly through the big surfaces, so dust would not get sucked through the filters, and it couldn't just settle, inside, when fans aren't running.
      Also where are you streaming?

    • @taiiat0
      @taiiat0 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      what's wrong with the Filters the better cases have? those are 'forever filters', you just wipe them off and you can use them forever.
      and they have little air restrictoin, while doing an excellent job of filtering out particles.
      are you sure you want traditional filtering in your computer? because those are disposable filters. more effective than the super thin reusable ones, but instead of wiping them off a few times a year, you'd be throwing them away and buying new ones, sooooooo....

    This would be great for use in an industrial area. For example, in our fab shop (that is always full of metal shavings & dirt) we have a computer connected to the CNC burn table. We had so many dust issues we ended up building an (almost) air-tight container for it, with all air intake routed through a shop-vac ait filter. It works great and we just have to keep an eye on the filter, and occasionally take it off & blow it out.

    • @YeCannyDaeThat

      It wont get as clogged as you think. I have an air purifier which is just a big version of this. It's been running 3 years. Every 12 months I just vacuum the filter and I washed it once. But at no point did the fan slow or airflow slow down. Having said that, my big HEPA filter has a courser black filter in front of it that catches most the bigger stuff. Hairs and dust balls. I clean that the same about every 6 months. So basically, I dont think you would have to clean it any more than a regular PC dust filter.

      +matrixfull Dude, you have to be doing something wrong, almost all PC cases have a quick release tab or a single screw that holds on the right side of the case if you are looking at the PC from the front... if you are using a funky "gamer pc" with the completely over the top case like the Alienware Area 51, MSI Trident, Asus ROG G20C... you chose that trouble!
      You can still use an air compressor to blow the dust out, a toothpick to keep any fans from over-spinning, and some duct tape to hold that tooth pick in place. You don't want to loose a toothpick in there.
      I have a 2005 Dell Optiplex GX620 small form factor with a Pentium D 840, I just leave the side panel off so it doesn't fry the Nvidia GT 640 2gb, I can play any games that will run with 3GB ram. I blow the dust out every 6 months.

    I typically clean out my PC twice a year with a leaf blower. I've been using the leaf blower method for almost 20 years now. It turns water radiators brand new in seconds and can really get to all the stuff you could never reach.

    Still way better airflow than modern shitboxes with glass over vents.

    super want this layout, maybe with 3x front fans and no drive bays, and without the fancy filter. Like an improved TJ08 which I used for nearly 10 years

    In Delhi, with the amount of dust in the atmosphere, this would be perfect. The water resistance is less useful but not arbitrary.

      FrankDaTank1218 i get this is a joke and all but its scary to think that bullet proof glass most times will barely stop that damn thing.

      jaketheboss1000 Bulletproof glass might as well be useless. All it is somewhat more shatterproof, maybe stops some pistol bullets. a .50 BMG? Probably never, that shit breaks anything

    This'd be actually a perfect case for a watercooling setup with an external radiator. You'd have to liquid cool almost everything due to the restricted airflow tho. CPU, GPUs, RAM, VRM, HDDs. It'd be possible.
