    You should redo these types of running sessions now with your extended collection. I love these types of videos. Keep up the great work!

    Another great idea for a series and a very enjoyable first episode. 6 super locos and difficult to pick 1 out as a favourite. Excellent stuff

    Sam. All the locos you ran in this video are great. But as a great western fan, I like the great westerns the best. But I like the celebrity locos as well. As for the royal scots, there are actually 2 royal scots that have been preserved. Royal scot her self, and the scots guardsman. Great video as always.

      @SamsTrains  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks a lot Nick, got plenty of GWR videos on here somewhere! Thanks for the info on the Scots - I keep forgetting there's two!
      Thanks for watching - Sam :)

    Just found this engineer series, superb. As a new follower, I was totally unaware of this little treasure trove of info. As I was searching info on drummond, whose locos were used locally to me, only to find this. Maybe you should re-promote this series and ones like it, for us newcomers. Just an idea, thanks again Sam.

    • @SamsTrains
      @SamsTrains  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much Brian, really glad you enjoyed discovering this one - yes I really like the Drummond locos! I might even revisit the idea, with some new locos! :D
      Thanks for watching - Sam :)

      @@SamsTrains that'd be really good. An updated series of engineers. What about regional series? Locos and rolling stock found around the country, covering different eras? Steam and diesel. Like, scotland central belt, then cover eras 3-6 then era 7-modern? Just an idea, as your a full time TH-camr. Lotta research though.

    Hi,Sam.
    like the video.
    Just been looking at some snaps of holiday in Scotland and I am almost sure this single driving wheel loco is in the Glasgow Transport Museum with the same livery etc as yours.
    Ted

      @SamsTrains  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ted, you're absolutely right, she is in the Glasgow Transport museum, though I've never seen her there myself - must have been amazing to see her! It's a shame that she's not in working order though :(
      All the best,
      Sam :)

    • @SamsTrains
      @SamsTrains  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks very much! Yeah I've got quite a few that do... But none of them are very good! I tend to disconnect the Hornby sleuth ones because they leak and make a mess!
      Cheers,
      Sam :)

    I'm surprised you never did a Churchward video - though I suppose many of the most famous Churchward-style designs were in fact Collett extrapolations of the Churchward model.

    • @SamsTrains

      You are right Owen - I'll see how many I have, and maybe give it a try! :D

    Four very nice loco's Sam and what a difference between the Class 700 and the Caledonian
    in such a short time between designs . Drummond had a very interesting career but died in tragic circumstances ......Peter .

    • @SamsTrains
      @SamsTrains  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks a lot Peter - that's true actually, the difference is incredible, though I think the Caledonian was supposed to be quirky for its exhibition! I find it really ironic about his death too, a real shame :(
      All the best mate,
      Sam :)

      H Jon, thanks very much for the kind words! Charles Collett is coming next week, so hopefull that'll be okay for you!

      yeah, I typed the message just before the end, thanks dude looking forward to seeing what you choose, so many classic locos from panniers and the 14xx's via the 0-6-0 goods, the 72xx the 2 cylinder 4-6-0's (Halls / Manors / Granges) right up to the kings and Castles... your spoiled for choice. But whatever you choose I'm gonna love it :)

    Nobody corrected you on the 2P. Fowler's design was based on Johnson's Midland Railway 482 Class. You know, power classifications like the LMS used are not the same as classes.

    • @SamsTrains
      @SamsTrains  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I stand corrected, duly noted! :D
      Thanks for watching - Sam :)

  • @russellbenton2987
    @russellbenton2987 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video as usual Sam. Like the idea of Great Engineers, looking forward to more. Your third line certainly coming in useful. Just one point, you went a bit of course on the 2P . 2P is actually a power designation, so there could be several classes of locos all with designation 2P . So Fowlers 2P compound that you show actually has nothing at all to do with Dugald Drummonds 66 class. Regrettably apart from the 4-2-2 you show and the dreadful Smokey Joe there aren't any Caledonian Locos available. I'm hoping we will get a Drummond 0-6-0 or 4-4-0 sometime. Who knows?

    • @SamsTrains
      @SamsTrains  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Russell thanks very much for the comment and info - I think you're right there! I knew it was a bit precarious while I was researching... But I had no others to run, so I thought I'd include them to fill the space! But yeah, more Drummond locos would be lovely one day!
      All the best mate,
      Sam :)

    Brilliant thankyou do you get fluff from the carpet in the trains?

    • @SamsTrains
      @SamsTrains  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks very much! Very occasionally, but I service them all regularly to remove it! Other than that, I vacuum the rails before every run and it removes all the fluff - it helps that it's a very thin and mostly fluff-less carpet too!
      Cheers,

    Why am I calling the 2P 4-4-0 my favourite, if I haven't even tested my own model yet? Still, I do like her Prussian Blue coat of paint. I just hope she won't become boastful like Thomas once was. She is the most beautiful 4-4-0 alongside Bachmann Edward; you should have them double-heading a train together sometime. I'm sure they'd be best buddies.

    • @SamsTrains
      @SamsTrains  5 ปีที่แล้ว
