m8 unlocked the pacifier ability, the "hold up, hold up, lets listen to what they have to say" passive, the ability to walk into a room and everyone quiets down when you state you have something to say. That's the ultimate communications passive I think we all want
My best friend of 30+ years came out as trans within the last year, and lost her marriage and her entire family and almost every friend in our mutual circle in the process. But to me, not much has changed, she's still the person I've known for most of my life, and I still love them like family. So as long as you've got friends who are willing to stick by the homie no matter what, to hell with everyone else. Keep doing you, Gwen. We got your back ❤
That is pretty gd crazy to get married and all that and then come out. Like holy shit. If my spouse did that idek that definitely sounds awful. Hope ur friend is happier now that he/she is out the closet tho
Hey, with how you pointed out this idea that how people interpret "Woke" is a cultural point, I wanted to add something. Even the talking points people engage in are so reflexive and thought-terminating that I've heard gamers actually argue that "They're trying to make the kids gay." I'm a cis-het dude whose nerd circles were so gay I quickly came to know for a fact I had no interest in other guys. So when I heard these people who have never sat down and contemplated anything in there lives ever, say these talking points. I asked them a question that they can't answer: "Do you believe if you were raised differently, you would be gay, or trans?" I know my attraction to women isn't "Rational", it's instinctual to me. I see what I don't like, and I kinda squirm because it makes me uncomfortable. Gay and Trans people are, of course, the same way. The saddest part about this kind of interaction though, is that some people have genuinely responded. "Yes, if I were raised differently, I could've been Gay or Trans" and they don't even realize that they might be denying a part of themselves with this reflexive homophobia. It's genuinely quite sad to see the state of the average normie gamer. Luckily, we all have spaces like these where we can inspire each other to keep doing our part in shifting hearts and minds. Thank you Gwen! Been watching for years, and looking forward to watching for plenty more! Here's to the day when people existing as themselves is no longer a "Political" topic.
The only reason i learned i was trans was because i learned that there are people out there just like me. I think the perspective on the “they’re turning the children gay” should definitely be looked at through the lens of “it should be okay to have trans and gay representation in media” If i never met a trans person, i would be left feeling like i don’t have a true sense of identity. It obviously is more nuanced than what i can put into a comment. I just wanted to add something to the conversation.
You've been a constant in my life since the jackal and Mira how to way back when. I just wanna tell you that I've recently accepted that I am a trans woman, and you are a huge inspiration to me.
Not me crying in the club on a Monday from a YT video ;~; Amazing video gwen, so happy to see you so happy, and I'm so glad to support your amazing work through this time.
Hey dude("dude" is gender neutral, I'll die on that hill), I've been here since 2017 and regard you as my #1 favorite siege youtuber of all time. See I live in Russia so I have never seen(irl) or talked to a single trans person in my life, but I do find this stuff really curious. I kinda want you to yap about gender and identity now, as you were a smart and reasonable guy, and I reckon those attributes didn't change. Love you girl, hope to hear from you soon.
As much as I'm still terrified of Project 2025, it's really nice to one of my favorite youtubers spreading some positivity and turning out to be a fellow trans woman. (seriously I had to do a double take when I first saw the twitter post lol) I look forward to many more hours of entertainment and education from your videos.
Ive stopped caring about Siege for a while, but its been nice to stop by and check the comments and see you've actually settled on a name now, congrats! idk how long ago that was but still, nice
I'm a leftists nonbinary person, and I appreciate your optimism! Its really inspiring because we as a society often negelct the nuance of reality. Peace and Love Gwen. ❤
There was a part of me expecting a Bojack Horseman style "or at least this would have been a nice coming out story" at the end, but I'm so glad the people around you who love you the most accepted you so instantly, truly a fairytale coming out story. Been a long time fan and will continue to be, another great video Gwen 💙
That story about your friend at the bar reduced me to tears. Your so lucky G. It's insane to see where you've come from. I don't get the idea of being "proud" of a content creator as a viewer but goddamn I am proud to be a long time GGE viewer.
“[T]here are two races of men in this world, but only these two -- the "race" of the decent man and the "race" of the indecent man. Both are found everywhere; they penetrate into all groups of society. No group consists entirely of decent or indecent people.” ― Viktor E. Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning Gwen, you are a decent person. Hence, why I've been subscribed for years and will not unsubscribe. Please stay safe, my homie turned homegirl is scared of what the future may hold for her.
Been watching you for around 4 years now and I am still genuinely happy at how positive and cool this community is, you are my favorite gamer girl now congrats Gwen. Lots of love from Malaysia
hi gwen i barely interact on here but i've watched since starting siege during crimson heist. as someone questioning their gender identity raised in the bible belt (ive been queer for a while but revelations etc) it's been very, for a lack of better terms, affirming and heart warming to see your transition. hearing you say queer and trans woman and embrace that part of yourself, i swear i'm not trying to be parasocial or anything but it's just been very very very wonderful to see. thank you for continuing to play and make content for this very not woke community. rainbow being in the title will never not be ironically funny to me tho ggs :)
I had a similar ish experience to you talking at my high school grad. So glad that you know and got to be a part of a group that had kind, strong men in it. You bring a common sense, logical and open minded approach to your videos that I have always loved, and this one knocked it out the park. All love from Canada
I can kinda relate to this, while I’m the “grizzled 6’4 right leaning strong man” I’m also bi sexual. And, and this rarely happens, I say that I am bisexual, no one believes me. They say my voice is too deep, and I don’t have the “gay accent” and always take what I have to say as a joke. Admittedly people do understand and accept me now, but it took some time for me to even say it out loud, because people just won’t believe me. So I’m glad to hear that you’re having such great friends to hear you out.
I’ve watched your videos since I was like 12 in middle school. I’m 19 now and it’s been really amazing seeing how you’ve changed and grown as a person. I admit that I was a bit disapproving when you came out, but I was a different person then. My younger sibling had came out as non binary maybe a year before that and I had a hard time coming to terms with that. It’s been a couple of years since then, now my sibling and I are inseparable best friends. I won’t lie when I say that seeing the change in your life helped me accept the change in mine. So I just wanted to say thank you
I've been watching your videos for a really long time, I first got into your content around the time of 2020, back when Shifting Tides had first come out. It's always been both engaging and entertaining watching and learning from how someone can show me things I may not have known. It's helped me to grow, both in a game sense and a wider more broad sense. It's helped me figured out how I want to do content and how I look on my opinions of things- however I wouldn't have grown had I not let myself grow. What I'm TRYING to say is that it's been really cool seeing you grow as a person and creator and I thank you for providing content that let's me grow as well. And I know it's a very casual look but I love that look on your girl, you rock it super well.
This video was beautiful gwen, never did i think finding some siege channel years ago would mirror some of the same things i have dealt with; never have i found such kind and accepting people in the most unlikely places.
Im so happy to see gwen post this! I am sick and tired of having to explain that i dont hate the LGBTQ community or minority froups because i tend to lean right. I simply just dont like powerful feds. Thats it.
This is really cool. I disagree with you on a lot of things, but sharing a story like this is so helpful when the country is so divided. Keep living your life how u want.
G congrats on coming out takes a lot of courage. You definitely have changed Attitude and outlook. Like a year or so I left some disagreement comments on your channels. Also in NightHaven Osa is a leader they take orders, Tubarão is trans they also take orders from him & Sens. Listen the bigots will always be bigots. But you keep doing you.
I'm a Leftist, and myself am not very fond of liberals and conservatives alike when it comes to politics and the way they might view certain social and economical issues; however, I also been lucky enough to meet genuine amazing people from both groups, people who I call friends even today, after all the radical changes I've been through. So on that regard, I agree with you, Gwen. Good commentary as always.
As a catholic centrist I really agree, I dont get why people hate others or ostracize others because of their gender identity or politics, in the end they live their lives and I live mine, support as always Gwen, even though i might still sometimes type in the old name by accideng for your operator how to's xd
God, it's been a journey with your content, Gwen. I'm so happy you were finally able to make this video. Your message at the end of the video was fantastic too. Some of my favorite videos from you were you political stories and intertwining them with Siege. I'd love to see more vids like this. Thank you so much for being you!
This was a Strong video G. It’s tough to go out into the internet and openly speak your mind on controversial topics. It’s even harder to do so while keeping a sense of self awareness and neutral control and I applaud it. I think you hit the nail on the head with this. The media had everyone so scared of each other and made us think we were all separate from one another, when in reality you go outside and most people are just out to live their lives and do what works for them. You have the odd trolls that will distance themselves because you change but the ones that count won’t care what you are, but who you are. I’ve been around since your first operator reviews, watched your takes on other games like your defense of MW2 ‘22, actively binge couch co-op, and as long as you keep that mature and honest air about you I’ll keep watching regardless of your changing identity. Cheers from a beard bro
In the last year or so I’ve gotten to know my NB partner’s brother, who is a trans man. Both dating someone who is non conforming and meeting their brother has been such an eye opening experience for me And a lot of that comes down to the idea that, life goes on and people are still just that, people. Take them as you find them and treat them with the same respect you’d like to receive. What happens with their body or their lives is their choice. Nothing more, nothing less. I’m proud of you Gwen, as you’ve always been a reasonable and sensible figure I’ve been able to look towards when navigating the world of politics, whilst also enjoying R6. I’ve always admired your views and dry humour. And I will absolutely say that I still admire them now, more so than ever, due to you not wavering in the face of potential backlash. Stick to your guns and keep being you lass!
havent played siege in a long minute but ive been keeping up on your videos, glad to see you happy being yourself and the direction youre taking with the channel
As a trans person in Florida at the end of a college semester i'm not in a great space to watch this right now. But when I get the time and hopefully in a a better headspace I will. thanks for the years of content Gwen
Not going to lie, you been the many reasons I still play siege to this very day. Been playing this game since when Florence came out, been watching you since, well forvever. Probably one of the best videos you made. Thank you for everything Gwen.
Gamble worth taking! The world needs more voices like yours with real and critical thoughts behind them. Having the ability to communicate difficult social topics to people from diverse backgrounds and social circles is an important gift/asset in the world we live in today. Keep it up!
I don’t know if i’ll ever be able to see eye to eye with someone who voted for trump, but i know i am at peace with where i am and where we are as a country. Despite human rights so obviously being non political, it breaks my heart that we still have to vote on wether or not women can make choices regarding their own bodies, or wether or not trans people are given life saving surgery. I don’t feel strongly about politics, i just care about people. I’m worried for the future and for people who want to piggyback on the ideas of this administration, but i do have hope that we’ll all grow and be better to each other. hearing the story about your fraternity really gives me hope that despight trump winning, people might not believe in everything he says
Your level-headedness has always been your strength with your content. It’s why no matter what personal decisions you make, agree or not, I’ll tune in. Refreshing takes as always, keep it up.
This is making me realize how painted my opinion has been because of my surroundings… When I came out I was in a group that was more of the “Raw milk” Crowd… I was met with cold shoulders by everyone in my IRL group that I had met… But my online group which I was deathly afraid to come out to surprisingly met me with open arms… It put me in a tailspin, but my resolution is to not let that experience fully paint everything, there are extremists on both sides, but you need to find a middle ground… At least that’s what I’m talking away from this while whipping my tears away…
I genuinely could not agree more, political topics are much more grey and nuanced than the vast majority might think. In the end no matter what your political leaning, you can still love and care for your fellow human beings regardless of disagreements. Definitely one of my favourite videos of yours Gwen
The reason I followed this channel to begin with is even more present today than it has ever been. Keep going in this direction. You’re doing something right. ❤
Wonderful video, Gwen. I've been nervous about an upcoming reunion, where I was worried I would let emotions get the best of me when confronted with those people. This has put me in a much better headspace. Thank you
I genuinely think people forget that we are all human, we are all different. And that's okay. We don't all need to be the same, or on the same page even. We can disagree, or even dislike each other and that's fine. We don't _have_ to get along. But we can still hold our tongues when we need to, and be kind and respectful of each other all the same. The world is complicated, and so are people, it isn't as simple as "do x thing and y thing happens." It's more like, "do x thing and the whole alphabet follows." What matters most is that we talk, hold constructive conversations and come to better understandings of each other - even if we still disagree. That will help us build something better for everyone. We can be strong together despite our differences, instead of weak divided and having no differences. And personally I think that's what Rainbow embodies.
well made video g, I used to watch you about a year ago then took a break from siege. I'm now coming back and this was some great insight and helpful context for the channel
not discounting your experience and i'm glad you got people supporting you and all but like it honestly feels real underhanded to say something like that at 16:50 i can't tell you your life but these words sound insulated from and thus less sympathetic to the conditions that might engender these kinds of attitudes. i can't say whether or not things would be different for you if you were not a known entity, because it's complicated but i can say this. the average american conservative doesn't really care that much about us. that much is true. i'm always telling the average Always Blue No Matter Who voter that a lot of red votes are the result of dems refusing to engage with anyone's material reality and getting surprised when they don't secure demographics they assume they don't have to work to secure, that most of these guys only care about their wife their job and not much else beyond their 4 walls and immediate community. they can ultimately be appealed to, they can be affected by effective rhetoric and they can be shown a broader perspective. they're human all the same as anyone else. anyone can choose to walk a more loving path. but this does not change the fact that many of them only understand us as blue haired screechers and bearded freaks in dresses and predators or whichever else- much like anyone they're easy to manipulate and over the past few decades so much work has been done to manufacture consent for a swelling tide of violence directed at us- local and legislative. it's hard being black and trans in the south, Gwen. i lost my job and thus my insurance and thus my HRT. i have queer community, i have things that keep me going, but often(not never, but often!) the people that accept you have never accepted me whether or not my hair is purple at the time. and i'm often so very diplomatic and patient. i don't have to wonder what people will see when they look at me. i think being vocal about your experience is good and i would encourage you to continue doing so. but keep in mind that many of us have very valid reasons for not having the capacity for a liberal's optimism
Yeah honestly I relate to a lot of the feelings you've talked about. It's amazing that these people are accepting of Gwen, but I don't honestly think they'd be accepting of any trans person, not the way they'd accept someone like them. And I can understand that, we are a very tribal social species, but when the "not accepting" goes as far as demonising, legislating against etc, its hard to ignore. And especially when voting for someone like trump, I have to question a person's intentions. He is known for lying about so many issues, with those closest to him admitting they're "willing to lie if it gets the point across" or whatever that moron said. In cases like that, there is certainly an element of ignorance or uncaring, from those who voted for him.
Respectfully, I don't believe my comment was underhanded. I'm not telling queer people to change the minds of bigot. I'm only sharing a personal experience in which I assumed something of people, wrongly, and was proven wrong. I think that's happened for a reason. I'm sorry about your access to your medicine. That's awful and I would not wish that on anyone. I understand why leftists are getting fed up with liberals.
I'll be completely honest, initially when you first started coming out as trans I was worried you were going to turn into the stereotypical angry blue haired leftist. But then I quickly realized that just because someone has changed their appearance/gender/identity/whatever, doesn't mean they've also changed on the inside as well. Im definitely in a weird middle ground where I don't understand trans/non binary internet culture, and even disagree with them on some of their beliefs just because I can't wrap my traditionally raised brain around it. But I also believe wholeheartedly that humans deserve a right to be happy and believe what makes them whole and fulfilled (unless it impedes and harms others, obviously....or is incorrect). While I have my grievances and disagreements ESPECIALLY about certain political ideologies being pushed into certain modern games rn, you and other content creators have shown me just because games aren't specifically made JUST for me anymore (mostly straight, white male) doesn't mean they're AGAINST you. And I feel like we could use more of that mindset especially nowadays. Your open minded understanding of a video game universe filled with diverse soldiers/cops really helped open my mind a little more. Thank you Gwen. 👍
Live your authenthic life ! thats what you should do, as someone who transitioned 4 years ago, my life has change so much for the better I wake up with the strength to do the things that I love ! and i love life ! keep up, we will make it through !
I usually refrain from politics when not speaking face to face (people tend to forget we’re all humans) and by so avoid a lot of videos on such topics, i doubly don’t fully care about american politics since I’m not american, i usually just go “sorry you guys elected a clown- good luck for the next years but I’m not interested” but I’ve been following your channel for like 4 years and seeing you getting through stuff like a champ has always been great and is the only reason why i still listen to you yapping on videos like this 😂 Here’s to fewer ones like these in the future but if you feel like they’re needed you go girl, I’ll still be here lmao
Man... I think people just need to treat other people like... people. I wish it was just that simple. It's not, because we don't allow it to be sometimes, but I just wish it was.
Hell of a watch, and I am thankful for it. With how much turmoil going on in my own country overseas from yours, I do tend to dispel how even political alignments can be overlooked for those who I consider family and who accept me in return. I guess I needed that more than ever. Would love to hear more from you soon🤙
You really good at this talking thing, that's something i look up to. I have no idea how much work goes into these talking videos, but i really appreciate the effort you put in dealing with all the internet poltics bullshit.
I’m gonna be honest, I wasn’t up to date but my first hint at the new change was the channel rebrand to G’s gaming experience. I couldn’t agree with you more in this case. I’m not certain if you publicly came out around the time of the change or not but even if you had my response is still the same. Gwen I respect the hell out of you. This video was refreshing and I share many of your sentiments. I won’t discuss my beliefs but this election was my first time voting because I recently turned 18 and it seriously put a bad taste in my mouth. Not because of the candidate that won in regard to my vote or anything, but rather the downright ridiculous divide the results had among friend groups and family. Truthfully neither candidate can do anything to make both sides happy so it is what it is. The balance lies somewhere in the middle and we honestly need to come together as a nation instead of hold knives to each others throats over policy. At the end of the day the next president will come in and policy will continue to evolve and change. I can’t stand the two party system but I will stand with everyone else in this nation despite the difference in beliefs or ideologies. Gwen this was an excellent video and you’re a true inspiration and I’d like to thank you for it. I’m not certain my politics has to be a taboo subject and I believe this video was an excellent brake down of biases on both sides that are generally disappointing. Thank you for your insight and I feel as though this format may have so merit for future videos.
Gwen, you got an great video on your hands here. I wanna see more videos like this on the channel, as I don't really play Siege anymore. But I don't stick around for Siege, I stick around for you. The voice, the information, the witty banter. It's videos like these that keep my pea-sized brain focused while gaming or eating. Please do more videos like this - Signed, ShingoKirishima: a cis-male with many transfem friends and accepting of others
There is political stuff that is frustrating, especially when you think of your opposition as terrible people, which I don't think about. I'm a leftist, through and through, but I have conservative leading friends and we have the best time with each other. We might disagree on our values, but I still love them as my friends and I always love hanging out with them. Now, there is some things I won't stand for, but I also won't, you know, bring out politics randomly. We still joke here and there and they're still my friends and they're always going to be my friends. There are, of course, some people I will never be friends with, like the Nick Fuenteses of the world, you know, but that's just obvious. You're allowed to disagree with people and still hang out with them, have a fun time. It's just being cautious because those same nice people could turn their back depending on the fate of the world or some news they heard, but at the end of the day, be friends with who you want and don't look at the world as something black and white. There is some nuances to the world.
Same boat here, was a centrist in highschool but went full left after it. I have the same friends since I was 13, for almost 11 years, but I haven't told them of my political journey. I love them, but I won't lie, it is a bit exhausting sometimes, like they are grown men but still hold ideas from back then and it's like they never sat down and thought "where is this even coming from? Who am I to say this?" It's weird, having to think if I should be more upfront when they say something fucked, or if I should just keep it cool and hope I can sway them into rethinking for themselves.
You wouldn't believe the whiplash I got clicking on this video after not watching this creator for 2 years. No hate to them, I'm glad they came out good for them, but holy shit I did not expect that
Thanks for posting this. I am also coming to terms with what a "real man" should be and what I want to be. Definetly nice to hear you had a better than expected reception at your group, I similarly fear openly talking about myself to others and I'm slowly overcoming that.
I think it would work out like that one animation. Look at Thatcher and Dokkaebi. Two different generations of thinking and problem solving. No team is going to be frictionless and will disagree. But I believe, just like the real world, they’ll work around it. Thatcher and other older men in Rainbow will absolutely not keep their mouths shut just look at Kaid. In the battle passes for Fenrir especially, Kaid made it clear where he stood. But I think that’s great in a way, to be able to express “hey I disagree with this” and be able to be civil about it. I look forward to more content regardless of what it is. I enjoy hearing you speak.
this was a great video! Made me think proper. Especially about the world around me. I do agree with the points you present here. Keep these coming, Gwen!
This will be sort of long and I have no idea if anyone will even read it but I just felt like sharing this since it's has some pretty related parallels. I played Rainbow Six Siege a lot in late middle school and early high school. My whole friend group honestly sort of spawned from our love of this game particularly, and we're still going today as a really active group just in other games only occasionally bouncing back to Siege to check it out as it changes. And yeah I was an edgy kid back then, and definitely would call the game "gone woke, gone broke" material or whatever if the stuff in it now was the case back then. Fast forward from being dumb kids and all of us grew up. At some point in that growing I realized I was a trans woman. To my shock everyone is chill with it and things changed entirely in that way. It's weird how fast it worked out too. And I do think there's something to be learned from how as kids exposed to trash media personalities we latched onto, we ended up being pretty put off by LGBTQ+ inclusion because we had the way way way wrong impression because of these bad faith things we were told. I had never met a queer person that I really had a conversation with until it turned out an old friend of mine who moved away and moved back eventually had found out they were gay. I was a bible belt kid, and pretty sheltered. But as soon as it stopped being these "others" we never met or talked to, and it ended up being some of us that discovered ourselves the edgy stuff we were saying just melted away. It just clicked that these aren't bad things and that my perception as a child was warped by hatred pushed by confused or just angry/dissatisfied/similarly misled people. This isn't a blueprint though. If it were that simple we could just door-to-door and fix all hatred in the world. I do know that a friend of a friend was very Christian, and wrote me off immediately. I was as kind and courteous as I could possibly be, but he just wasn't having it. Flip side though, that actual friend of mine is also very Christian. And he will always go up to bat for me. I trust him with my life at this point. He interprets much of the Bible that gets twisted for hate differently, and apparently has made compelling enough arguments to make breakthroughs in pastors who were spreading that hate. He's frankly a very good debater on the topic. It is not our job to change people, and make them "better people". But I do hope honestly in a majority of cases that many could be swayed just by meeting a genuine kind queer person. I know that there are unreachable people, and it simply is not worth our lives to try and do gymnastics to prove our worth or whatever to them, but I do think this would work in a lot of cases. Things are not so black and white and easy of course. And it's always worth noting that many queer people were not accepted by their own parents at even young ages, some can't find safe employment, and it's awful and terrible but we do have a notably heightened statistic on being victims of murder just for being who we are. We can't change the minds of everyone. But if I did have to say anything to people who were starting their journey as I did, and are so unsure if their friends would leave them I'd at least like to offer my experience. I was almost certain I would lose someone, and yet I lost no one close to me. We still play video games regularly, some of us went to the same college, we go to the gym together, and I even fell in love with one of them who had come out separately as a trans woman and about a year after that we found out we had feelings for each other. Sometimes it just takes a "tribe member" to really show perspective on these things and change minds, because remember as humans we are pretty predisposed to being tribalistic and it's just something we have to get over with how modern society is structured. That two party system does not exactly do favors in that regard and the whole annoying inclusive=woke=bad stuff will probably persist for generations at least if I'm being real. I mean it's literally a job for some people to stoke that, look up stuff on disinformation bots. I can never guarantee that the exact same stuff will happen again for someone so smoothly, but I have the faith that maybe somewhere else things do go this well for someone else.
I think the biggest problem with todays politics is the inability to see anyone on the “other side” as human beings with nuanced beliefs and feelings. Until we can get to that point nothing will get better in the political sphere. It’s a big reason I choose not to engage in many political conversations these days, you can’t hold certain beliefs from one side or the other without being labeled
Hey, Gwen. Just wanted to say that you are not insane for being "moderate". People usually don't debate someone's existance when they are in front of them. People usually want to work together and be strong together. Things are going to be a bit wacky, but the answer is to fight together, not each other. So here's your tie in to Rainbow, I guess. Cheers
Thank you for sharing this story, its so easy to fall into cultural sectarianism and the dismissal of others based on mutual assumptions. I come from a Christian conservative family and i am slowly embracing my transition; inevitably, im going to have to come out to them. However, one person in my family already knows, and while i can tell shes skeptical she made the biggest point that i am loved no matter what. As we come into adulthood in a more and more polarized world, moderation and coalition between opposite spectrums is going to have to become the standard for everyone, and im really happy you spent time to give an example as to how that can be a reality
People are complicated, nobody deserves to be scared. Peace is inevitable. I think this video is important. It’s hard for me to avoid the mindset of “if my opinions win the world will be a better place.” I’m fortunate enough to be able to vote for a third or fourth political party and have an impact on my parliament. I’m (very) far left leaning and am level 417 in R6, I have had long discussions with others about how R6 is one of the largest intellectual properties embedded in “copaganda.” I still play it. Sometimes I feel bad about participating in an activity that other people understand as justifications for violence when I view it as an advertisement for a humanitarian vanguard. I no longer think it is worth feeling bad about my hobbies or how things I participate in can and are used to benefit people I disagree with, because it truly is unavoidable. I cannot afford to view other people’s opinions as “corrupted,” or “wrong,” without removing myself from things I enjoy. I need to be more empathetic to those I disagree with, but I know that tolerance cannot accept intolerance. My apathy will kill me, but I think the unpasteurized dairy will kill the people I argue with faster. Good luck Gwen, stay safe and know you are doing a good job.
Really enjoyed hearing your perspective! I'm glad you have supportive people around you, and it sounds like you're killing it honestly. I'll be here when you go super lefty-woke ;D Just a small point about the Supreme court, the Bostock v Clayton decision was under a different court. It was before Ginsberg's death, and this current court overturned Roe. If you have any interest, check out the Majority Report! It's def lefty, but they do long form interviews, policy discussion etc.
I really appreciated this video. I think it can be very easy to to assume that everyone who voted in such a way that could affect us negatively did so out of targeted malice, but the reality is almost never that simple.
i enjoyed this, and while i am not a person who particularly cares about politics, I'm glad that this is here, because i whole-heartedly agree with most points in this video, whether it's about Siege, or your party. and if anything, I'll keep watching your content regardless, keep up the great work.
Im might not be the biggest supporter of lgbtq and stuff and might not be a big believer but I've grown to know you as a fellow minded and un biased person and very smart too Therefore I'm really happy for you and hope that you'll enjoy your choice and new life Also gwen is a really beautiful name

m8 unlocked the pacifier ability, the "hold up, hold up, lets listen to what they have to say" passive, the ability to walk into a room and everyone quiets down when you state you have something to say.
That's the ultimate communications passive I think we all want

The Yapping passive
Ah yes, The Mediator
My best friend of 30+ years came out as trans within the last year, and lost her marriage and her entire family and almost every friend in our mutual circle in the process. But to me, not much has changed, she's still the person I've known for most of my life, and I still love them like family. So as long as you've got friends who are willing to stick by the homie no matter what, to hell with everyone else. Keep doing you, Gwen. We got your back ❤
We're social creatures. Our connections make us who we are. Appreciate it
Thank you for being a good friend to them. It's so sad others close to her couldn't do better.
Even the talking points people engage in are so reflexive and thought-terminating that I've heard gamers actually argue that "They're trying to make the kids gay."
I'm a cis-het dude whose nerd circles were so gay I quickly came to know for a fact I had no interest in other guys.
So when I heard these people who have never sat down and contemplated anything in there lives ever, say these talking points. I asked them a question that they can't answer: "Do you believe if you were raised differently, you would be gay, or trans?"
I know my attraction to women isn't "Rational", it's instinctual to me.
Existing isn't political
The only reason i learned i was trans was because i learned that there are people out there just like me. I think the perspective on the “they’re turning the children gay” should definitely be looked at through the lens of “it should be okay to have trans and gay representation in media” If i never met a trans person, i would be left feeling like i don’t have a true sense of identity. It obviously is more nuanced than what i can put into a comment. I just wanted to add something to the conversation.
Yes, Gwen, that was a video worth making
Ty! I'm glad!
You've been a constant in my life since the jackal and Mira how to way back when. I just wanna tell you that I've recently accepted that I am a trans woman, and you are a huge inspiration to me.
That's a throwback. I appreciate you. Thank you.
Bait farmers stealing "woke" from the black community and making it a culture war talking point has been such a crazy journey to see it end up here.
Not me crying in the club on a Monday from a YT video ;~;
Amazing video gwen, so happy to see you so happy, and I'm so glad to support your amazing work through this time.
Ty!
As far as I am concerned the G stand for Goated

Hey dude("dude" is gender neutral, I'll die on that hill), I've been here since 2017 and regard you as my #1 favorite siege youtuber of all time. See I live in Russia so I have never seen(irl) or talked to a single trans person in my life, but I do find this stuff really curious. I kinda want you to yap about gender and identity now, as you were a smart and reasonable guy, and I reckon those attributes didn't change. Love you girl, hope to hear from you soon.
Maybe some day on discord. You'll all be the first to know for discord GameDay.
As much as I'm still terrified of Project 2025, it's really nice to one of my favorite youtubers spreading some positivity and turning out to be a fellow trans woman. (seriously I had to do a double take when I first saw the twitter post lol)
I look forward to many more hours of entertainment and education from your videos.
I figured some positivity was needed. Courage isn't the absence of fear, it's moving forward in spite of it
Ive stopped caring about Siege for a while, but its been nice to stop by and check the comments and see you've actually settled on a name now, congrats! idk how long ago that was but still, nice
ty James!

I'm blessed
That story about your friend at the bar reduced me to tears. Your so lucky G. It's insane to see where you've come from. I don't get the idea of being "proud" of a content creator as a viewer but goddamn I am proud to be a long time GGE viewer.
Thank you for this reassuring perspective during this polarizing time. It means a lot coming from someone I’ve followed for years to come.
You are so welcome! Keep your head up
Lookin good Gwen. Glad to see you doing well!
Thank you!!

Gwen, you are a decent person. Hence, why I've been subscribed for years and will not unsubscribe. Please stay safe, my homie turned homegirl is scared of what the future may hold for her.
I'm meaning to read that book one of these days. Thank you.
Been watching you for around 4 years now and I am still genuinely happy at how positive and cool this community is, you are my favorite gamer girl now congrats Gwen. Lots of love from Malaysia
Been here for a while even with my constant hyper fixation on other games. Whether I play this game or not still enjoy the content.
ty for being a part of this community furious!
hi gwen i barely interact on here but i've watched since starting siege during crimson heist. as someone questioning their gender identity raised in the bible belt (ive been queer for a while but revelations etc) it's been very, for a lack of better terms, affirming and heart warming to see your transition. hearing you say queer and trans woman and embrace that part of yourself, i swear i'm not trying to be parasocial or anything but it's just been very very very wonderful to see. thank you for continuing to play and make content for this very not woke community. rainbow being in the title will never not be ironically funny to me tho
ggs :)
I had a similar ish experience to you talking at my high school grad. So glad that you know and got to be a part of a group that had kind, strong men in it. You bring a common sense, logical and open minded approach to your videos that I have always loved, and this one knocked it out the park. All love from Canada
I try my best. Thank you so much!
I just quit playing R6 about a year ago, and now WHAT THE FUCK
I’ve watched your videos since I was like 12 in middle school. I’m 19 now and it’s been really amazing seeing how you’ve changed and grown as a person. I admit that I was a bit disapproving when you came out, but I was a different person then. My younger sibling had came out as non binary maybe a year before that and I had a hard time coming to terms with that. It’s been a couple of years since then, now my sibling and I are inseparable best friends. I won’t lie when I say that seeing the change in your life helped me accept the change in mine. So I just wanted to say thank you
Love the positivity in the video, it’s a really nice outlook and is super refreshing. Excited for your next video
I hope it helps
im planning on coming out soon like within the week, and this video is giving me a lot of hope for that. thank you
You can do it! God bless you
I've been watching your videos for a really long time, I first got into your content around the time of 2020, back when Shifting Tides had first come out.
And I know it's a very casual look but I love that look on your girl, you rock it super well.
ty! I'll rock it more
This video was beautiful gwen, never did i think finding some siege channel years ago would mirror some of the same things i have dealt with; never have i found such kind and accepting people in the most unlikely places.
it's been an eye opening experience.
That last sentence needs to ring true for a lotta folks. Couldn't have said it better.
Well said.
So happy this is where I entered the R6 community, and where I stand as an American in 2024. Cheers to you, Gwen.
I appreciate these examples. Left, right, you can still treat people with respect and not fit people into a “bucket”. Powerful message.
Good commentary as always.
ty!
Thank you so much for being you!
as someone who lost a lot of hope for america after the election this video really helped put things into perspective for me thank you gwen
Both dating someone who is non conforming and meeting their brother has been such an eye opening experience for me
And a lot of that comes down to the idea that, life goes on and people are still just that, people.
I appreciate it!
As a trans person in Florida at the end of a college semester i'm not in a great space to watch this right now. But when I get the time and hopefully in a a better headspace I will. thanks for the years of content Gwen
Keep on trucking, you can get thru this!
Not going to lie, you been the many reasons I still play siege to this very day. Been playing this game since when Florence came out, been watching you since, well forvever. Probably one of the best videos you made. Thank you for everything Gwen.
Seems like this video was a gamble that paid off!
Refreshing takes as always, keep it up.
ty gearshift!
We've got this! you are loved
@
Thank you…
We love a good, straightforward yap. Thanks, Gwen, for the realness
I came here for siege stayed for the speech. You have a way with words. Props to you
well made video g, I used to watch you about a year ago then took a break from siege. I'm now coming back and this was some great insight and helpful context for the channel
People are not black and white. We all have grey. Treating people with love and respect is so important with people understanding that you’re human.
not discounting your experience and i'm glad you got people supporting you and all but like
it honestly feels real underhanded to say something like that at 16:50
i can't tell you your life but these words sound insulated from and thus less sympathetic to the conditions that might engender these kinds of attitudes. i can't say whether or not things would be different for you if you were not a known entity, because it's complicated but i can say this.
the average american conservative doesn't really care that much about us. that much is true. i'm always telling the average Always Blue No Matter Who voter that a lot of red votes are the result of dems refusing to engage with anyone's material reality and getting surprised when they don't secure demographics they assume they don't have to work to secure, that most of these guys only care about their wife their job and not much else beyond their 4 walls and immediate community. they can ultimately be appealed to, they can be affected by effective rhetoric and they can be shown a broader perspective. they're human all the same as anyone else. anyone can choose to walk a more loving path.
but this does not change the fact that many of them only understand us as blue haired screechers and bearded freaks in dresses and predators or whichever else- much like anyone they're easy to manipulate and over the past few decades so much work has been done to manufacture consent for a swelling tide of violence directed at us- local and legislative. it's hard being black and trans in the south, Gwen. i lost my job and thus my insurance and thus my HRT. i have queer community, i have things that keep me going, but often(not never, but often!) the people that accept you have never accepted me whether or not my hair is purple at the time. and i'm often so very diplomatic and patient. i don't have to wonder what people will see when they look at me.
i think being vocal about your experience is good and i would encourage you to continue doing so.
but keep in mind that many of us have very valid reasons for not having the capacity for a liberal's optimism
Oh my goood lets fucking GOOOOOO
GWEN GAMING ARC lets fucking GOOOOOOOO
Gwen gaming activated
I suspected you started your journey , but its not my place to speak on it till you do . with that being said Congrats on starting Gwen

I'll never go back.
wow thanks to the power of estrogen i have now cried while watching footage of siege lmao
I usually refrain from politics when not speaking face to face (people tend to forget we’re all humans) and by so avoid a lot of videos on such topics, i doubly don’t fully care about american politics since I’m not american, i usually just go “sorry you guys elected a clown- good luck for the next years but I’m not interested” but I’ve been following your channel for like 4 years and seeing you getting through stuff like a champ has always been great and is the only reason why i still listen to you yapping on videos like this 😂
Here’s to fewer ones like these in the future but if you feel like they’re needed you go girl, I’ll still be here lmao
When was the transition from Greg to Gwen me confused that or maybe I’ve just never paid attention :0
Homie is thriving keep it up 👍
Sounds like things have gone pretty well. I'm happy for you.
And yes, content like this is very welcome!
Much appreciated!
Im so proud of you Gwen!!!
You really good at this talking thing, that's something i look up to. I have no idea how much work goes into these talking videos, but i really appreciate the effort you put in dealing with all the internet poltics bullshit.
Great video! Thank you for making this Gwen
Please do more videos like this

Thanks for uploading this video, Gwen!
There is political stuff that is frustrating, especially when you think of your opposition as terrible people,
which I don't think about.
Life's complicated. Appreciate your feedback
Who am I to say this?"
It's weird, having to think if I should be more upfront when they say something fucked, or if I should just keep it cool and hope I can sway them into rethinking for themselves.
A great video to listen to. I am glad you shared your thoughts.
You wouldn't believe the whiplash I got clicking on this video after not watching this creator for 2 years. No hate to them, I'm glad they came out good for them, but holy shit I did not expect that
Thanks for posting this.
I am also coming to terms with what a "real man" should be and what I want to be.
Definetly nice to hear you had a better than expected reception at your group, I similarly fear openly talking about myself to others and I'm slowly overcoming that.
the funny thing is it was never exactly like the e3 trailer
You have my full support. Sending best wishes from Down Under.
100%. glad you could relate it to Siege. one of my favorite cinematics.
this was a great video!
Another great video. Top marks, Gwen.
Here’s to 2025 Gwen
Hey, Gwen. Just wanted to say that you are not insane for being "moderate". People usually don't debate someone's existance when they are in front of them. People usually want to work together and be strong together. Things are going to be a bit wacky, but the answer is to fight together, not each other. So here's your tie in to Rainbow, I guess. Cheers
whoever let her cook can be trusted to make good decisions from this point on
ty! I'll keep cheffing it up!
It's the only way to get out of this mess, imo
Good luck Gwen, stay safe and know you are doing a good job.
omg that last line took me out. ty for sharing. I also have talked about the "copaganda" of Siege with friends. interesting conversations.
Really enjoyed hearing your perspective! I'm glad you have supportive people around you, and it sounds like you're killing it honestly. I'll be here when you go super lefty-woke ;D
Just a small point about the Supreme court, the Bostock v Clayton decision was under a different court. It was before Ginsberg's death, and this current court overturned Roe.
If you have any interest, check out the Majority Report! It's def lefty, but they do long form interviews, policy discussion etc.
Coming out to my family today… hope it goes well
Update: Went well (we cried)
I really appreciated this video. I think it can be very easy to to assume that everyone who voted in such a way that could affect us negatively did so out of targeted malice, but the reality is almost never that simple.
i enjoyed this, and while i am not a person who particularly cares about politics, I'm glad that this is here, because i whole-heartedly agree with most points in this video, whether it's about Siege, or your party. and if anything, I'll keep watching your content regardless, keep up the great work.
99% of gamblers give up before making it big , welcome to the 1%
Im might not be the biggest supporter of lgbtq and stuff and might not be a big believer but I've grown to know you as a fellow minded and un biased person and very smart too Therefore I'm really happy for you and hope that you'll enjoy your choice and new life
Also gwen is a really beautiful name
