I feel like this would be really good in a bigger bedroom as a replacement for The-Chair-of-Clothes-That-Are-Kinda-Clean-Still because you could hang up/fold things so they don't get so creased without putting them in with your perfectly clean clothes
Great idea. One tip though: place a spacer between the doors before you drill the hinges in. Something about 1/16" - 1/8". This will ensure the doors are parallel, but also ensure the edges don't bump against each other when opening and closing them. You can see the door on the left move just a little when the door on the right is opened at 5:35. Great idea! I'm looking for ideas for Kallax doors.

I just purchased some 3x3 cube storage from a different store and now i am seeing so many possibilities! I hate the limited space of the squares and prefer regular shelves because of that but now i realize i dont have to add all of the separations and can make shelves if i prefer! Thanks for the idea. I also love having doors because it helps keep everything much cleaner and dust free but that is a bit much for my skill level, although i have the tools. I am also going to add some small legs! Love the idea. Like you said it could come out to so much less to even free! I see these shelving units on Craigslist OFTEN and one can always check out Home Depot for free scrap wood. Mercari is a great place to look for hardware even the legs for really cheap. Great job ladies.

i have the 4x2 version of this that i use as a dresser and i purchased all the doors and drawers inserts for it, now i with i hadn't! adding 2 doors makes it look so much nicer! Maybe one day i'll make it over anyway...

FYI old tooled leather belts look really cool as handles... cut the belt to the size handle you want..it works well for drawers as well.....but for closet or an armoire you just screw each end vertically add some give in the leather strap so it look like a handle..a cheap solution for handles that look super cool

This looks great! My only issue is that a standard (16 inch or larger width) hanger would not fit with clothing attached as I see that the shelf width is about 15-16 inches. Were smaller clothing hangers necessary for hanging the clothing?

You construction tips were spot on and include many tips other DIYers tend to leave out. Another really fine feature is your use of music. Too many TH-camrs are so intent on adding music that they cover the instructional dialogue. You didn't fall into that trap. The one suggestion I have for improvement is to include the Ikea model in the description as well as the measurements for the doors and hinge placement. Adding the Ikea model will make it easier for us to return to this video when we're ready to try it as well as providing you the opportunity to rank higher in search results. Keep up the good work because you are an excellent role model for other DIYers!👍

I have one of these shelves and I'm definitely going to try it. I use it for serving plates and it could use an upgrade.
This would actually work great to hold vinyl since the shelves are just the right size. You just wouldn't get rid of the top shelf.
