As a result of seeing this fascinating segment I did some quick research on Mr Alroy’s life. There was an excellent article written for the February 1961 Coronet magazine which detailed many aspects of his life to that point. I encourage anyone with an interest to read it.
At the end of the article, there is an insightful quote from Mr Alroy…
“Americans are still too complacent about the danger the world is facing from totalitarian systems,” he says. “People who have always enjoyed freedom tend to take it for granted. This can be a tragedy. If you’re not on guard all the time, today’s freedom can easily become tomorrow’s tyranny.”
Keep in mind this was said in 1961…Something to think about.

I like what Kitty Carlisle said about that concentration camp survivor. She said it so well. I’m glad that both Tom Poston and Bud Collier acknowledged the accomplishments of this courageous and brilliant gentleman. It breaks my heart to think of all the innocent people who were murdered by those devil Nazis, when had they lived, could’ve contributed to the world in so many ways like this gentleman did.

My father was part of the liberating forces at Dachau . He was put in charge of burying the wagon fulls and piles of those who didn't survive . I went to one of my fathers army reunions. One of the wives of a guys who served under my father told me about something her husband had done and it's consequences . In the 1970's the wife worked for a dentist in Georgia . One day they were talking and she told about her husband who was on burial duty found a man still alive in one of the many piles of bodies. He got the guy medical treatment and went back to his duty. The next day the dentist told the woman that he called his father to tell him about the womans husband's story. He then told her that he was here thanks to her husband . The father was the man that was saved and the father still remembered the soldiers name that saved his life

I have firmly gone down the TTTT rabit hole! Thanks for uploading. I was not yet born by the time any of this aired in America and we here in South Africa did not get television until 1976 and even then, shows like these were never being shown. I love history and find it sad that this gentleman was in a concentration camp but inspirational that he had the fortitude to study further. I read up on him after watching this episode and found that he became a Professor in Political Science and wrote 3 books. He died in 1985 at the age of 60 sadly.

If there was a way I could travel back to 1959 just to shake Gil C. Alroy's hand, I would- that is the most amazing life led I have ever heard!!! May 21, 1985: Dr. Gil Carl AlRoy, a professor of political science at Hunter College who wrote extensively about relations between Arabs and Jews in the Middle East, died of lung cancer Sunday at Mount Sinai Medical Center. He was 60 years old and lived in Guttenberg, N.J. Dr. AlRoy, who was born in Chernovtsy, Rumania, twice escaped from Soviet troops when they occupied Chernovtsy in 1940. He later escaped from the Germans' Doaga concentration camp dressed as a German soldier. He emigrated to Israel and in 1954 came to the United States. He graduated from City College in 1959 and earned a doctorate in political science from Princeton University in 1961. Dr. AlRoy joined the faculty at Hunter College in 1963. His books included ''Behind the Middle East Conflict'' (1975), ''The Kissinger Experience'' (1975) and ''The Real Impasse Between Arab and Jew'' (1979). And Don Ameche pulled a fast one there with his girls in game #2!

I guessed #1 was the real Gil C. Alroy right away. The way the light startled him when it turned on in his face seemed like a completely involuntary reaction, which made me think that he probably learned to fear light shining directly on him during his concentration camp days, especially when attempting an escape.

According to Wikipedia, as an opera singer, “On December 31, 1966, Carlisle made her debut with the Metropolitan Opera, as Prince Orlofsky in Strauss's Die Fledermaus. She sang the role 10 more times that season, then returned in 1973 for four more performances. Her final performance with the company was on July 7, 1973. She reprised this role during the Beverly Sills Farewell Gala in October 1980.”

I would just like to add some information about the
last contestant - the concentration camp escapee.
As this type of show can only skim the surface.
Also some answers from the other two claiming
    to be such, misleading.
In 1940 a portion of Romania was occupied by Russia.
And in 1941 the Nazis entered the rest of Romania.
At the end of the WW 11, the Russians occupied all of
Romania. And this when the young man fled to Palestine.
This by boat probably from an italian port. It is not possible to
travel by rail to Turkey. Or from Turkey to go further on.
The four concentrations the young man placed in are
unknown to Americans. In all the countries the Nazis
occupied, they set up local camps. These for Jews of course,
plus intellectuals and alike. And most were created to
work those placed within them to death. Or to
mistreat the prisoners so badly, they would die anyway.
There where escapes. But very few survived being
    hunted down.

You can look all the copyright laws up for yourself. Due to the age of these old broadcast shows, unless some part (only a part, if there’s anything applicable) is copyrighted due to anything, like recorded music, these old shows fall outside guidelines of copyright. Newer broadcasts are copyrighted so you have to have permission to use them or pay to use parts that are under guidelines. If anything falls under CR it’s deleted so the remaining parts can be used. People get permission to use these, what’s left of them. Because of the way they were recorded, not all shows survived because they were recorded over by the studios to save tape. If you see a show that has parts missing, like music or advertising, that’s because those minutes contained copyrighted materials. However most has merely been destroyed instead of preserved.

A concentration camp escape was just another curiosity item on the show, like the guy who invented the underwater pen. And the only thing on Jane Meadow's mind in that somber context is to continue to exude a Hollywood Diva air, and even flirt with one of them. Who ironically, were then swiftly marched off stage to go collect their year supplies of whatever. To leave airtime for the "sponsors." Shame on the sponsors, too.
