This show has my favorite ladies on it, Polly Bergen and Kitty Carlisle. I saw Ms. Carlisle in late 2006 at her one woman show in North Hollywood and she was wonderful. She had just celebrated her 96th birthday...She did a lot of good in her lifetime for the arts...

Thank heaven the panel is now writing on their ballots and announcing and posting them themselves. It's no dramatic and lends itself to funny comments. And it is quicker. It's genius as a format all around.

Game #2 was probably the most fun of any of the games on this show. Thank you for putting them up. According to Wikipedia, Phil Foster's real name was Fivel Feldman. If they had given that name, it would have been incredibly obvious because Fivel is usually "Phillip" in English. BTW, Joey Adams' birth name was Joseph Abramowitz, and Hy Gardner's birth name was Hyman Goldstein. Henny Youngman's family's original name was Yungman. Notice that the new names are pretty close. Indeed, I went for Phil Foster because of the common "F" in the last names.

Boughman was head of the Secret Service starting in 1948. He instituted a bunch of modernizing programs and oversaw the expansion of the presidential protection detail that had been around 16 men in 1948 to close 40 in the early 1950s. He became famous as the first Secret Service head to make appearances on TV. He also wrote a book about his career and discussed, in more detail than some approved of, the methods used by the USSS when guarding the president. He retired in 1962, the year before JFK's death. The book's name was Secret Service Chief.

I remember someone with a job similar to the first central character on the 70's version. Since he wasn't allowed to accept money, his share of the winnings went to charity. Also, I mainly know Phil Foster for playing LaVerne DiFazio's father.

very interesting history of the secret service. director u. e. baughman was appointed by harry truman, (the president has the prerogative to appoint his own director) dwight d eisenhower never appointed anyone so baughman assumed the duty during eisenhower's 8 years on office. jfk waited 8 months to appoint a new director (james rowley on sept. of 1961) and of course we all know what happened nov. 22, 1963. baughman became a big critic of the secret services protection of kennedy that day, some critiques weren't very practical, but one was later adopted in practice, unauthorized people being kept out of buildings the president passes.

Well, the two men are giving their reasons why they voted for whom they voted. Polly might never get the concept of giving a reason. I know that later on, Kitty did. I like how there was always a twist on something in these early shows. Like having someone prominent as one of two contestants who the panel was trying to guess. Thanks for the video.
