Fun episode! Always nice to see The Vicious and Masshysteri mentioned. The Birthday Party is a great example too, and Rowland S. Howard's solo stuff is cool too (as is his album with Lydia Lunch). Most of Refused going on to form Text is a pretty good one too, though it seems very unknown these days. I don't think that album ever got a vinyl release which is a shame, but I do like it a lot. Another good one is SubRosa which was a fantastic doom metal/post metal band that broke up a few years ago, but most of its members went on to form The Otolith and released their first album in 2022 and it was one of my favourites of that year.
Great episode. Couple other great ones that come to mind is obviously New York Dolls, Heartbreakers and Rites Of Spring, Fugazi but one that doesn’t get much recognition is Amebix, Zygote
Wow its so much fun to see the band refrences and transformation here Dennis, such epic lists and refrences you have. Not only you experienced transition of an era of metal and hardcore, but alternative / experimental bands too ❤. By the way I hope you could make an episode that focus on your side project in the past like Final Exit (many cool unheard and epic stories of the 1st and 2nd record somewhat an underground myth😊) or your contribution to burning heart records, or transition to International noise consp.. wow you have amazing musical journey to share .. TEG
All the great bands that came from Coalesce, Botch, and Kill Sadie!!! Need I say anymore? Haha! Thanks for another great video. They are always so enjoyable.
Another great episode Dennis - but you missed Union Carbide Productions into The Soundtrack of Our Lives 🙂! Maybe too obvious but Joy Division to New Order and The Undertones to That Petrol Emotion (and then The Everlasting Yeah). Not sure if these count but how about Liverpool 80's pop band The Pale Fountains who became the very cool Shack. Japan to Rain Tree Crow, Sisters of Mercy to The Mission, The Damned to Naz Nomad & The Nightmares and The Phantom Chords. XTC to Dukes of Stratosphear. Hoodoo Gurus "Stoneage Romeos" one of my favourite albums! Cheers! Steve
A bit cliche but everybody knows after Kurt died that Grohl started Foo Fighters but I saw Krist play with Sweet 75. Great band that Novoselic played guitar in and used two of Kurt’s old Fenders the night they played Tremont here in Charlotte. Was amazing to see.
Bra video!
Vicious is like a massive mesh up of baby shambles and Sex Pistols. Never heard of them…just picked it up. Another great line up. Also…my man…talk to me about your song Everlasting. Pretty raw. I love it. Is that you singing?
It's a shame that most of Masshysteri is off Spotify. I reckon there are reasons and one could always buy something to play actual records. Dom kan inte höra musiken❤
Refused > TEXT was great 😅 That Vicious record is perfect. Both Bauhaus and firehose entries I thought you were going to talk about Joy Division/New Order.
Ha. Refused > Text I completely forgot about. Joy division to new order is of course maybe the greatest transition ever but also maybe the most famous.

I’ve been trying to get the other guys to release Text on vinyl. I think it deserves some vinyl love.

Thought for sure you’d mention At the Drive-In where 3/5 formed Sparta and the other 2 the Mars Volta. My favourite band split by far.
Yeah. Those records were put but maybe a bit to obvious. 😀
Sometimes it seems like your vinyl collection has no end, I reckon this series is going to be a lifelong journey
Haha. Let’s hope so.
Dead Moon to Pierced Arrows is one that I really dig. Another awesome video, loving your content!
Yes. That was super solid.
Favorite channel on youtube. Love that you chose the Victims!
Those 7” are the best.
One of my favorite obscure bands is Monochrome, who previously were Dawnbreed. Their EP Ferro is 20 minutes of perfection.
All the great bands that came from Coalesce, Botch, and Kill Sadie!!! Need I say anymore? Haha!
Thanks for another great video. They are always so enjoyable.

Haha. Those were some prime examples. But yeah, Carbide to Soundtrack is spectacular. And joy division to new order was just to obvious.
And need to check out Shack!!!
@@Dennisdeepcuts Yeah I guessed so!
@@Dennisdeepcuts Their album 'HMS Fable' is a Liverpool Psych Rock classic.
Another Dischord example: The Faith -> Embrace (Alec McKaye out, Ian McKaye in)
Squirrel Bait -> Slint (not enough shared members?)
There are so many Dischord examples. And I need to get that squirrel bait album.
Great video. For some reason I never went too deep on Crime and the City Solution, but I intend to fix that.
Oh. They are fantastic. They evolve pretty quickly but it’s all great. Love Simon Bonneys voice.
My favourites would be NOU -> The Make-Up and of course McLusky -> Future Of The Left (perfect name for that!)
Yeah. That was pretty great.

Paused video to watch you play with the Descendents
Haha. Was it good?
@@Dennisdeepcuts as a huge Descendents fan, i thought it was amazing haha
Saw Love and Rockets at The Tabernacle in Atlanta. Great gig.
Jealous.
@@DennisdeepcutsIf I recall Rocket From the Crypt and Orgy the other bands that night too.
@@Localbandography killer line up.
Scream breaking up and then forming Wool, one of the most overlooked bands of the 90’s.
Yes. I agree.
Bra video!

Yeah. The vicious were fantastic.
Haha. Yeah, that’s me screaming there.
Pretty amazing. You bring a lot to the table.
Subhumans, Culture Shock and Citizen Fish. Keep it up with the great videos!

Yea. It’s a damn shame. Great record.
