DjaDja is one of my favourite songs. I’m an anglophone Montrealer, so because Montreal has a large French expat population and obviously being majority French speaking, this song was all over the radio and clubs and bars like 2 years ago. As someone who does speak French as my second language who had no fkng clue what some of this slang was, thank you this was so helpful 😂
For english speakers who want to learn french : "bail" is actually a real word which means "caution". When you use the real word , the plural of it is "baux" : un bail , des baux. But the slang version of it "t'as un bail" (you have a plan) , the plurals is "des bails". But I would recommend you never to use this word , cause anyone more than 25 will never understand you and you'll never be taken seriously , cause not only it's slang but it's also really a teenager word.

I ask because when I was in France long time ago in 2003/4 I don’t remember it being used by college students at the university I was attending for Erasmus. I remember “euhhh” was used as a filler a lot then.

I don't always know about new artist until later but I'm excited to discover a new artist while they're relevant in a different country. I have a suggestion, can you do this for a nekfeu song? He is one of my favorite artist and he just came out with a new album. It would be really cool to dissect some of his lyrics. thank you!
This song is very interesting, i learnt a lot of that kind of slang. I think french language is interesting too and maybe a little be complicated. I just speak spanish and English and both are difficult, but french more. 😅 🇨🇷❤
Ive heard one of her songs a long time ago because someone was covering it and i searched the actually artist and i didnt like the song .... ive recently come across her song soldat the other night and i loved it!! so now i am not only a fan of soldat but la dot and djadja as well lol And i am sure that there will be more down the road :) Not that ive listened to all of her songs but Ive been learning french for some time now and some of the lyrics were confusing. so i agree with you. I wouldn't call _"slang"_ a language that no one understands apart from a few people in the building where she's living... She's just making up words to sound _"cooler"_ . It's like a way to say: _"You're not a member of my team if you don't understand what I'm saying"_ .
Maïa, j'ai regardé "catin" dans Le Petit Robert : il lui donne 2 définitions au lieu d'une seule. La première confirme ce que tu as dit : c'est bien un terme "VIEILLI" pour "prostituée". Pour la deuxième, ya marqué que c'est un terme régional pour "poupée", et qu'il est utilisé en Normandie, dans le Centre, et au Canada. Et son emploi au Canada est marqué comme "critiqué"

You can learn proper French everywhere, but you usually hear more the slang, because it’s the slang that people speak, I disagree with you, Id rather learn slang in these videos and proper French in books
Yes we need more videos ...this is pretty good way to learn slang and diffrent kinda words .. keep making these kinda videos at least once in a week ☺☺☺

"Il y a R" in french "R" can be interpreted like " Air " , it's exactly the same pronunciation , but "Air' means "vent/wind" , "vide/void" , It is assimilated to "nothing" .In English you can say " Void" . This letter was chosen for both the beginning of "Rien=Nothing" and the meaning of "Air=Wind/Void". It's like in English when you use "R" to say "are" or "U" to say "You" , "2" to say "to/too" ect ...

Jusqu'au ce moment là je sais qu'on racconte surtout la vie entre leurs origines et la "famille" dans la rue où on doit se confronter avec la drogue et les addictions et la vie maintenant qu'on est devenues riches et connues par tous. This shortening (je ne sais pas --> je pas) reminds me of an old joke in the German dialect of Frankfurt am Main: -- Von dene Silbe', die wo mir verschlucke', könne' annere Sprache' noch gut von lewe' = -- Von den Silben, die wir verschlucken, können andere Sprachen noch gut leben.
D'après ma petite nièce (qui a l'âge d'écouter du Aya Nakamura : on va dire que jusqu'à 14 ans, c'est tolérable, par contre au-delà...), "tu deades ça" = "tu oublies ça", ce qui me semble plus logique, et n'oblige pas à faire l'hypothèse que c'est du second degré.

I am learning French I know several things, because I study a lot, read a lot, and listening. a lot of videos, but I am still scared if I go to France and people start speaking in a regular way, with slang and fast speaking, and I am scared not understand what they r saying, because I know how to ask or to tell phrases in regular way, grammatically for example TU EST JOLIE, AND I know people say t'ejoli. things like that. do you please have a nice word for me, any advice. someone out there,. thank you
ah yeah first I have to say that what you're talking about makes a lot of sense and it's a reasonable worry to have. You're not the only French student who feels that way :) And second, the only way to get past that is to get exposed to it a lot. So you'll have to have conversations a lot, and yes there will be moments where you don't understand or make mistakes and that's ok, it means there's still a lot of room to grow and learn :) I can tell you that you'll have a lot of funny stories later to share of all the mistakes you've made. That's the best part of learning a language, remembering awkward situations or culture shocks and reflecting on the progress :) Making errors and not understanding is part of the journey and you can't improve without it so try to not fight it too much. What's the worst that can happen you know ? :) Maybe start by chatting with francophones online before coming to France, make some friends, you'll be more confortable making mistakes around them. The more you'll do it the less awkward you'll feel too ^^ Find some other French students and share your experiences and struggles :) You can't learn a language fully from the confort of your room, the point is to use it and to connect with people the best you can :) Also know that some people won't have the patience to wait for you and help you with your french and that's ok too, you'll find the right people :) GOOD LUCK & HAVE FUN :)))
beaucoup de "slang" new wave qui disparaîtra vite, trop orienté certains groupes, et peu utilisé. Faire différence entre argot, jargon et langage parlé aussi. Tout n'est pas "slang".
@@Street_French l'analyse de la, hum! chanson, c'est du jargon, on n'y comprend rien sans décodeur, du charabia. l'argo est un vocabulaire issu d'un milieu spécialisé dont la langue parlée ne se set pas tant que ce vocabulaire n'est pas popularisé (via film, poésie, chanson, événement historique etc...) Quand vous voulez expliquer la portée d'un mot français reçu par un francophone de la part d'un non francophone, il vaut mieux classer entre grossier, vulgaire, langue parlée. Trou du cul peut être affectif, par exemple. Seule la pratique de longue date peut inspirer quand l'utiliser. Con est grossier, mais pas vulgaire. Il entre dans la charpente de la langue parlée, populaire. Pour ce qui est de la vulgarité, on est champion, pléthore. Et dans le nord, un médecin visite ses patients, je confirme.

Some jargon may be generally understood by people outside of that area of expertise, like pretty much everyone knows what a "cardiac arrest" is, but a lot of it will not be, like the names of the different parts of an 18th century sailing ship.

D'après ma petite nièce (qui a l'âge d'écouter du Aya Nakamura : on va dire que jusqu'à 14 ans, c'est tolérable, par contre au-delà...), "tu deades ça" = "tu oublies ça", ce qui me semble plus logique, et n'oblige pas à faire l'hypothèse que c'est du second degré.
@Sabra D. jamais entendu dead ça utilisé avec ce sens là. Plutot dans le genre "t'as dead ça" => t'as géré

I am learning French I know several things, because I study a lot, read a lot, and listening. a lot of videos, but I am still scared if I go to France and people start speaking in a regular way, with slang and fast speaking, and I am scared not understand what they r saying, because I know how to ask or to tell phrases in regular way, grammatically for example TU EST JOLIE, AND I know people say t'ejoli. things like that. do you please have a nice word for me, any advice. someone out there,. thank you
ah yeah first I have to say that what you're talking about makes a lot of sense and it's a reasonable worry to have. You're not the only French student who feels that way :)
And second, the only way to get past that is to get exposed to it a lot. So you'll have to have conversations a lot, and yes there will be moments where you don't understand or make mistakes and that's ok, it means there's still a lot of room to grow and learn :) I can tell you that you'll have a lot of funny stories later to share of all the mistakes you've made. That's the best part of learning a language, remembering awkward situations or culture shocks and reflecting on the progress :)
Making errors and not understanding is part of the journey and you can't improve without it so try to not fight it too much. What's the worst that can happen you know ? :)
Maybe start by chatting with francophones online before coming to France, make some friends, you'll be more confortable making mistakes around them. The more you'll do it the less awkward you'll feel too ^^
Find some other French students and share your experiences and struggles :)
You can't learn a language fully from the confort of your room, the point is to use it and to connect with people the best you can :)
Also know that some people won't have the patience to wait for you and help you with your french and that's ok too, you'll find the right people :)

beaucoup de "slang" new wave qui disparaîtra vite, trop orienté certains groupes, et peu utilisé.
Faire différence entre argot, jargon et langage parlé aussi. Tout n'est pas "slang".

l'analyse de la, hum! chanson, c'est du jargon, on n'y comprend rien sans décodeur, du charabia.
l'argo est un vocabulaire issu d'un milieu spécialisé dont la langue parlée ne se set pas tant que ce vocabulaire n'est pas popularisé (via film, poésie, chanson, événement historique etc...)
Quand vous voulez expliquer la portée d'un mot français reçu par un francophone de la part d'un non francophone, il vaut mieux classer entre grossier, vulgaire, langue parlée.
Trou du cul peut être affectif, par exemple. Seule la pratique de longue date peut inspirer quand l'utiliser.
Con est grossier, mais pas vulgaire. Il entre dans la charpente de la langue parlée, populaire.
Pour ce qui est de la vulgarité, on est champion, pléthore.
Et dans le nord, un médecin visite ses patients, je confirme.
oui on classe l'argot par niveau de vulgarité dans notre livre "Swearing like a Parisian" ;)
