Is it more common for words that trickle down from English get a masculin article or maybe it has to do with the word’s ending usually? If there’s just not explanation for why a French word is masculin or féminin that’s understandable too, just wondered if “new“ French words maybe had a trend. ah so I'll tell you how I use it, knowing I'm a young girl in my thirties from Paris France etc... I ALWAYS say "on", and really quite rarely say "nous". only in formal or professional emails. and if I were to meant the president haha or if I'm speaking with someone who speaks really formally, I would try to match they way of speaking as a form of respect. but yeah if you're around my age, you can almost forget about "nous" in everyday spoken language. not for a professional setting of course^^ Other people speak differently. I'm sure it's different in other parts of France or in Belgium or in Quebec. So it also really depends who you speak French with, where you're learning French.
To say "the chat" (as in Discord or on a Twitch livestream), la causerie or le chat, or are both common? (And yes, I would love more videos about computer/Internet-related vocab!) Merci beaucoup :)

This was an interesting video and I would really like it if you made another one that delves into other computer terms. By the way, is there a way in French te-o distinguish between 'upload' and 'download', or are they both just 'télécharger'? What about e-mail, both verb and noun in French; is it "un e-mail" or just "un mail"? What about "courriel"?
For upload, i use "upload', like, " j'ai uploadé une vidéo sur youtube", but for download, it's always "télécharger". Email is not formal french, but used a lot, for formal french and writing, i use "courriel"
ah yeah I'll talk about it in the second part with "computer vocabulary" but we say "mettre en ligne" sometimes people might say uploader, but not everyone would understand that. and we say mail and email. But rarely courriel. Courriel is more used in Quebec
Also, if you watch French language channels, if they want you to leave information in the "comment section", they say "Laisser (ça/ ces infos, etc) dans le commentaire".
@@Street_French I work in a field where people want to give advice to parents/caregivers, but it might not be their professional institution's views, so lots of educators, professors, etc, put this on their page. It's a legal protection, if anything. Hope this explains a bit better. Maybe you don't have to worry about this in France, but I wanted to add it to my twitter.

"le tchat" is the most commonly used on twitch. Contrary to "chat" with the drawn out "ch" sound which would only refer to the animal.

@@Street_French I work in a field where people want to give advice to parents/caregivers, but it might not be their professional institution's views, so lots of educators, professors, etc, put this on their page. It's a legal protection, if anything. Hope this explains a bit better. Maybe you don't have to worry about this in France, but I wanted to add it to my twitter.

Mais comment les anglophones disent-ils « liker » un contenu ? Car « like » veut dire aimer donc il ne peuvent pas faire la différence entre « j’ ai aimé ta photo » et « j’ai liké ta photo » (j’ai cliqué sur j’aime). Donc on peut dire que le français est plus précis dans ce cas, non 😉?
haha oui en français il y a plus de choix de phrases haha mais vous pouvez dire "i clicked.on the like button" mais c'est long..

Peut-être tu ferais une leçon avec des verbes médecine (chez le docteur aussi) comme piquer, sangue, la seringue, maladie, la santé, mal au dos etc.? J'ai une douleur en sacro-iliaque. :-(
