  • This shows how to set up a 100 millimeter ruler for laser marking in EzCad2. This example was originally part of the first video on powerruler, but I think it's better presented and easier to understand as a standalone.
If you've already watched the first video I made on the topic I quickly detail all the features again and the material is mostly repeated except for the actual example. It should be a little quicker and clearer but might be a little duller as there is no actual marking.

Great tutorial! Here's a tip: If you don't see lines, try zooming in/out. I found my EZCad glitches and some lines disappear which was very confusing because I thought I didn't set parameters right, but it was just a visual glitch :)
BTW is there any way to do ruler in Inches?

I made 80 mm ruler and it comes out as about 70 mm when measured. It's not my laser either, as I printed it from EZCAD on paper printer. Have you every seen anything like that? Is there some kind of ruler module calibration?

Actually I've had the same issue, the first time I exported my ruler to the work space, the sizing was just a little bit off. I had no explanation as to why it happened, but I think I just remedied it by deleting it from the work space and reloading it in the power ruler area, then I exported it again and the measurements were accurate. A quirk of ezcad I guess.
If that doesn't help, the only other things I can think of are to double check focal length and also draw a box and measure it to confirm everything is marking correctly to size.
