Hi guys! Enjoy the Top 10 Terrains for Flyers. These maps are based around functionality (frame rates, amt of air bases), beauty, and scale. These are MY personal picks, but there are so many amazing terrains out there. Special shout out to Vidda Alpha as it is BEAUTIFUL but pretty heavy on the frame rates.

Not only the cinematic way of showcasing the content you talk about but also the multitude of information and your refined way of presenting it really captures me every time I watch your videos. Thank you very much for your efforts and the time you spend on making these videos for us. I usually am no friend of top 10 lists, but you actually show how it should be done - with good and balanced arguments that are transparent to others. I'd actually love to see more of these topic-based lists, maybe top 10 Russian unit addons or top 10 assets for a Japanese/Chinese conflict. Just some ideas. You have a new fan. :)

@@Viper1Zero I have to thank! :) Indeed, ArmA 3 has come quite a way and offers an incredible amount of free mods that allow us to literally tailor it to our needs. Even back in the OFP days (sorry, still not getting used to "ArmA: CWA") the modding community used to be a very creative and fascinating playground. It's quite a shame that my once not too bad mission making skills (I'm still talking OFP) have pretty much fallen victim to everyday's work. I'd love to revive them, had I more time. Maybe I'd even find my WIP files of a "Hidden and Dangerous" inspired Coop campaign. I just love that atmospheric WW2 setting.
Polls are a nice idea, I'm curious about what might come out of them. Regarding my "requests", if you're really considering doing any of these I'd of course be more than happy. But please, just consider them as some ideas without any need to move mountains. ;)
Underated channel. You make amazing and cinematic videos, it's obvious you put a lot of time in your videos. Amazing content, please don't stop soon lol. You deserve a lot more, like your work.

Awesome video viper! So I have one terrain which I thought was pretty interesting... First I should acknowledge my bias, I am certifiable when it comes to the Huey. More specifically the Huey in Vietnam. As such I found the Khe Sahn map on The unsung mod to be a lot of fun. The map is pretty big and lots of terrain features.
It is an awesome map! A little heavy on the FPS drop though. At least last time I played on it, but thats been a while. I'll have to revisit. Cheers.

#6 Diego Garcia is my old project. Never got a chance to finish it, sadly lost all of the files. At some point if I have the time I'd certainly love to try and re-make it! Perhaps with Arma 4...

Fardad Yeah the South Asia one is funky. Sometimes the AI acts right, sometimes it doesn’t. The airbase should be near a city called Sumarat or something. I’ll confirm when I get home

In the MSKE 2017 mod, at 7:42, the bottom right island is a real one located in Canary Islands, Spain xD

These mods made this game a realistic badass simulator.
Where do you find more air based units for Arma 3 though? Most of what I've found are infantry focused and very rarely have pilot slots.
G'Day cool video. I just went & had a look at the Australia map. It looks good but it seems way out of date & Its not on the Steam Workshop. It also says that you have to modifie files to get it to work.
Installation:
To install the Australia you should use modfolders to keep it seperate from the official game content to prevent issues.
With Arma 3 you can use different ways to set up your modfolders to use custom content you have downloaded.
For access to the police stations use the following code in your debug conole ( hit escape in editor shows debug window):
player setVariable ["copLevel",1,true];
To me that isn't a good mod. Shame it looked good just wish they would put this content on the Steam Workshop so it would be a lot easier to manage.

It actually is on the workshop, it's just kinda hidden with no pictures or ratings. I'm not sure if the developer wanted it on the workshop but I'm pretty sure they abandoned the terrain a while back. steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=1182728989

Real shame you didn't mention PMC maps. Easily the greatest and largest maps that allow for proper air combat scenarios and grander scale combined ops. Sadly, not a lot of people seem to know of their existence or are too interested in messing with them.
Thank you for bringing those to my attention, I'll give them a good look over! This is only Volume 1 of the best maps, after all :)

No, that’s not necessarily their job. It’s the terrain editors job as well.

I know that the Nimitz is good but I had some problems with it. Isn't there any other aircraft carrier with crew on deck and animations? ^^
Nope! That’s the only one like it on the workshop, currently.

Oh to finish my last comment... There was all kinds of air operations in this theater. All the way from Piper Cubs to B-52's. So anywayload up a Huey with a squad full of grunts over at Khe sanh combat base and ferry them out to hill 881 South. Fly fast and low and don't take the same path coming out as the one that you took going in!

I'd like to know this as well. These maps look amazing but not much fun without things to do in them! Only so much you can do walking around and spawning vehicles in the editor!

Those crab were no joke! And yeah those damn donkeys caused a couple go arounds cause they wandered onto the EOR cause that flimsy ass gate wouldn’t stay shut 😂

What about PMC maps? They were made using satellite images and, in my opinion, are ideal for aerial combat and air strikes against ground targets. Yes, maps are mostly empty and you have to place objects yourself, and they are also very demanding on RAM, but from a height of several hundred meters they look great. Try to fly to North Korea or Germany ...) And the size of the maps is impressive ...

How you setup your X56 at Arma3?
Lots of trial and error, but basically got it to where I'm comfortable. The menu selection I mapped to the stick POV (bottom right) buttons, flaps, landing gear, and airbrake's I mapped to the buttons on the backside of the throttle where my fingers would rest, so to take off and land I would never have to take my hands off the throttle and stick, thus, HOTAS ;)
@@Viper1Zero but my arma 3 analogue Inputs only have 50% range, even when I using Xbox One controller.
@@carloskaholeung1562 Sorry I meant to respond to this way earlier. Do you have your individual controls on two different inputs? For example, is your "Throttle Up" on two different buttons? If so, the game splits the input between the two buttons and only hitting one of them will give 50%. You'll have to go through your controls and make sure your inputs are set to just one button/slider/axis.

arma's handicap is it's arcade style flight modelling, poor AI-logics and its catastrophic unfriendly user interface.
Adding a real world sized terrain and photoreal cockpit graphics, we have 5 major development issues
that need to be picked up to become a serious player on the sim market.
And yes, i hope bohemia will finally recognize that potential.
i haven't installed armaIII any more after bying a new pc for these reasons, only using x-plane and a bit of DCS (which disappoints me),
but seeing your videos, gosh, i want to get back into arma.
thing is: it is hard to get back to arcade flying after x-plane's flgiht modelling is so realstic.
I wonder why bohemias team, with their knowlede is not working on better flight physics.
Everybody out there is waiting for the aviation-related component to become improved and professionalized.
if you have contact to bohemia, bang their brains with this top priority requirement, they really need to push this now.
