Good video, those row lockups look like our kinze, may have to take a jack and lift the row up to lock them, we don’t use ours because we plant beans only with it. We run just the standard rubber press wheels, a lot of it depends on what kinda ground you have.
@@Hinesfarm-Indiana I was kind of thinking about a block or if it’s unhooked off the tractor just lift the planter on the stands so it tips back? Idk if that would tip it far enough back on the row units to get the locks in
I have a white 6180 12 row. I put poly twisters on it 5 years ago and plan on running them several more years. Planter has been over 3-500 acres a year. The cast twisters might last longer but for the cost if on a budget like me there well worth it.
@@kahlerfamilyfarms 6 years. I also run prescription tillage openers. I also installed a kit for the bushings on the closing wheels that changes them to bearings. You have to use washer to get closing wheels back in place with the kit.
There both strong engines has far as torque Im not sure. As far as power the 6080 feels much stronger in the field probably because of the turbo charger.
Love the Orange. Good luck with the new planter
Thank you! I hope it does well!
You will like the pto pump. Works very well

Welcome aboard!
Great video like all your plans that you have for your operation
Thanks!
I think you have a very good plan for your farming operation.
Thank you! Do you have any insight on the closing wheels? Like the 6000 series in your picture!
I plant with a standard JD 7000 planter
@@paulm6211 pull it with your 6000 series? What is that a 6080?
Also you could plumb your markers into your raise and lower lines.
I thought about doing that actually. I want to drop the 2x2 and go 2x2x2 out the back of the closing wheels and maybe some in furrow

Thanks for the insight. What’s a good way to go about jacking them up?
@@kahlerfamilyfarms I’m guessing a handyman jack or lower it down on a block, like I say we’ve never locked ours up.

I appreciate the insight. What kind of ground do you farm? I’m in a lot of clay here. But I am beginning to lean towards the poly twosters
@@kahlerfamilyfarms mostly silt loom. I have so sandy ground and so clay. I also like that they don't wrap up when planting green in cover crops.
@@familyfarmertn8931 how long have you been planting green?

8010 and 750 drill sowing wheat!
It's a 6080 I plant with a allis 185
How do you like the 6080? I’ve never really been around one! I’ve driven 185s and 180s before! We use to have a 200 here but got rid of it
I bought it because it has a cab. It's been a great tractor the four cylinder turbo engine is strong.
@@paulm6211 how does it compare to the 185 as far as torque and power?
