    It's a rare thing to see someone tackle a taboo subject with such tact as you have here. Great literary analysis of the song.

      Ah that's great to hear, thank you! I tried to retain a bit of that poetic quality that the lyrics have, in spite of the topic.

      Also, I finally got the chance to look at this on the computer, and I think the video looks good! I don't see anything blurry at all. I think it's only very slightly more blurry than the other videos.@@dr.metalhead5452

    First hearing this song at age 10 without a solid grasp on the English language (Thank God) - and now seeing the lyrics decyphered is quite the contrast :')

      Haha that's funny! For once not understanding English proved to be a good thing XD My brother would start chanting "Lord Abortion" when he was 4 whenever I listened to this song (I was about 14) and I was happy he didn't understand a word of it XD

    "I was born with a birthmark of cinders debris cast from the stars" I always interpreted as an impossible inconception only possible by that of a denizen of hell itself. Falling stars are nothing more than fallen angels trying to get back to heaven.

    This video got buried in my watch later list, so sorry for the late response. Most people dont realize this album is heavily influenced by clive barkers book cabal, and movie nightbreed. One major thing that changes this song in particular is that he's counting victims. So the times 9 or 10 and diorama (12) and the number 13. Also he ends up referencing counting with my favorite line. When has 1 been able 2 best separate the 3. I love how theres that hesitation on the 3.
    Although some things about this song i disagree with you on i think thats almost the point of how he writes. There always seems to be at least 2 ways to interpret his lyrics

    • @dscTHIRTEEN
      @dscTHIRTEEN 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      #13 is actually a victim in the movie that just seems cut out for time or something. So a lot of this songs seems like he took a detour and described it quite vividly

    Artists with a Gothic side to them do necrophilia subjects much better than gore metal bands. With the notable exception of 'Viva la Muerte' by Pungent Stench. That idea of surviving an abortion is a powerful concept. And...you in that corset made me subscribe to your channel. Very nice. ;)

  • @Michael_Michaels
    @Michael_Michaels 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    5:14 that description reminds me of the movie _Perfume: The Story of a Murderer_ . The movie's story is about the protagonist's life, a boy with a superhuman sense of smell, told in flashback. The scene I refer to is in the beginning, with his abandonment at birth in a Parisienne fish market. Just imagine the disgusting stench! His mother, visibly ill and at the end of her pregnancy, cutting cod fish heads, casually births him under her fish-stand, in the most putrid spot in the entire kingdom! According to the movie, it was her fifth birth but all had been stillbirths or semi-stillbirths. She cuts the umbilical cord with the very same knife she uses to cut the fish, and pushes him to her side, to be hidden from public eyes, to be left for dying. And if this wasn't gruesome enough, the scene ends with the narrator saying that by evening, the whole mess is shovelled away with the fish-guts into the river, but by some miraculous force, the baby survives. Such amazingly disturbing movie!

    • @dr.metalhead5452
      @dr.metalhead5452  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ah yes, I remember the movie! I hadn't made that connection, it's been so long since I watched it, but I do remember it was very disturbing. You're right, the scene is quite striking and it does bear a resemblance.

    I disagree that there is no "artistry" in something like cannibal corpse. Sure, sometimes it gets stupid but there is this sense of unforgiving violence, rawness and inhumanity. It speaks to our darker and more violent nature.
    Also, amazing weight lifting music.

    I've watched a few of your videos (mostly Cradle), and your analyses I find are insightful and rather thorough.
    I don't think anyone sated your curiosity about the leanings of our theories regarding your enquiry. *[**5:15**]*
    So, I'll give you mine...
    _"I spat in the waters of life"._
    I think I'm on the former side of the aisle here!.. He holds the utmost and(or) utter disdain and loathing for the attempted pedicide - although! He is prideful of his origin's emergence! However, there could be a twist of irony wherein their failed discarding of him is what actually killed his mother as we know he was raised by his: "bastard father" and the victims his dad beat blue, exclusively. *_So, possibly, the 'spitting' in the waters of life could be an irreverent disdain and defiance for life itself - as there is a probable indication his failed abortion was the catalyst for his mother's own. Perhaps?_*
    *[An observation and some critique]*
    *[**8:10**]* - _"Cunts cut out of puberty"._ Hehehe, this would be a good, solid-improvised line if the protagonist was talking about pubescent victims. Unfortunately, you've read this wrong. (though, this is perhaps even more morbidly macabre than the actual line).
    "I grew up on the sluts
    Bastard father beat blue
    *_Keepsake cunts cut full out_*
    Easing puberty through".
    I'm not sure if you're familiar with the word _"slut(s)",_ which could be used as another term for a harlot, jezebel or prostitute, as this could imply the Lord's father was a devout patron of the Ladies (not children) of the night whom he would abuse, and beat them unto their complexion turned into a black-and-blue hue. And then, of course, our curious hormonal-pubescent-protagonist took advantage of his father's misogynist transgressions and literally cut out fully his 'keepsake' 'kitties'. _"Keepsake cunts cut full out"._ So, if I'm not mistaken, 'keepsakes' are usually mementoes or souvenirs; well, this 'keepsake' is more of a masturbatory accessory or flesh-aid, even a pet toy, if you like, to ease him through his 'tumultuous' pubescence. "Easing puberty through"; he's talking about his puberty here if you recall: *_"I grew up_*_ on the sluts bastard father beat blue"._
    At least, that's how I interpreted this stanza.
    I think you're spot on, I agree with the rest of your analysis. A Shakespearean sonnet, an 18th-century sermon, a "Total Fucking Darkness" reference and that corset, damn! What's not to love?
    *~Some titbits~*
    Dani's neologisms are inspiring - here's a few from memory:
    • *Whors d'oeuvres* _(You already know)_ - An apropos appetiser
    • *Phallelujah* _(TTVFG)_ - Praise the omnipotent Phallus!
    • *Deviliverers* _(Tortured Soul Asylum)_ - Deliverance to The Plutonian Shore, Tartarus or The Underworld! Whichever you fancy? Or more, a personal Hell to abhor?
