My local dealer had the Low Rider S on Demo Day. I was the 1st person on the 1st day to try it. Let me start by saying I tried a 2016 Low Rider S. Was impressed. Just didn't care for the Shaking. The New one, When we got back to the dealership, The HOG Director said I looked out of breath. Was Smiling the entire time. Amazed how powerful and smooth. Didn't even look at the Tach during the ride. Watching the group, Shifting gears, Couldn't get it to lug. Maybe later when I can better afford one. Trade in the 2018 XL1200C.
Matt Laidlaw, thank God your dealership survived. I think you are one of the last family dealerships left. (Not a group of dealers) I have been buying Harleys since the early 90's. Always bought from Fletchers in Clearwater FL. They got forced out some years back but, were in business for around 50 years. Bob Fletcher was a WW2 vet. Always took the time to talk to customers. Their service and prices were fair. And they cared about the customers. I have not been to your dealership but, I get the feeling you run it the same way. You make me want to travel 2300 miles to buy my next new bike from you. Eventually I will make it to your area and stop in. Thanks for the awesome videos.
I haven’t been to fletchers but it seems like a good dealership. WW2 vet? That’s cool. Yes the landscape of dealer owners is changing a lot. A lot of the dealer groups are damaging the brand unfortunately. It’s all about profit over nurturing the brand and riders.

Pan M8, I echo your sentiment about family owned dealerships. I deal with my home town dealer Historic Harley-Davidson in Topeka KS. The Patterson family has owned since 1949. Folks there are super to work with and call me by name when I walk in the door. Only 60 miles from Kansas City so if you are ever there it’s worth the trip over. Also check out the Evel Knievel museum that is attached to the dealership.
A SJ don’t listen to nay sayers. Every brand of every bike around is around because people buy them. People buy them because they work. Literally man... drive what speaks to your soul. When you look at it you think, “no fuckin way is that MINE”! That’s the bike.
I went to Laidlaw's on Oct 11th, 2019 to try to trade in my 2019 SGS for a BO and an R6 that they're selling. Though we couldn't come up with a deal, I have to say that Matt was a great guy to deal with, was open and fair. The dealership itself is gorgeous and the staff is super friendly. I would do business with Matt and his crew. They're the real deal. Great vids Matt.
Coming a little late to the comment section, I just purchased a 2020 Low Rider S and agree with what you and your team say about the bike. Between my daughter and I, we've purchased 6 Harleys in the last 4 years, her latest purchase was a 2020 Fat Bob. I appreciate all the videos you post as they help in many ways with our purchasing decisions. Thanks again Mr. Laidlaw.
Matt, Nick, Andrew … You guys knocked it out of the park with this review. I knew you would. I had mixed feelings when you previewed this bike at the dealer show. I half loved it, half grumbled about it. It has continued to grow on me since. I have to agree with Andrew. The new LRS is a great bike and probably a better bike, but there is just "something" about the Dyna OG Lowrider S. The only solution I can come up with, is to own one of each. Ride the pants off each, then see which one gets ridden the most. It's all in the name of science, right? Excellent work on this vid. Love the drone footage and using the ballpark as background for discussing H-D "knocking it out of the park" with this release. Sweet little detail. I also want to congratulate your team for the Coast Glide win. This was a huge pat on the back from H-D and the public for design excellence.
It's funny. I started looking up info on the Low Rider S and as soon as I saw a video from Laidlaw that was the first one I checked out. Thank You for the full, in depth, honest opinion overview of the bike! Nice work!

Good to see the low rider S back, HD needs to put the 117 in to the next model. The original Dyna LRS was special because it had the bigger 110 in it, they need to do the same with this bike. Include cruise control and the bike will sell like crazy to the younger demographic, I would trade my FXFBS for it, but as it is now I'll stick with my FXFBS
100% on the 117. Also put back cruise control, that was a dumb as rocks cheap ass move on HDs part to delete. I'm not a fan of the front fender look either. Forks needs gators to protect the seals (a common issue on the FXDLS is blown out fork seals) and a clean Dyna style front fender and (insert long list of style mods here :)... Bottom line is I'm hoping for a CVO version done right to replace my totaled FXDLS.

Great information as always Matt. While I do like the low rider and the S. I can’t afford two so still waiting for the review of the new Road King Standard. Thanks for all you do to support Harley and motorcycles in general.
Love it so much I've already ordered and paid first two payment. However, I don't return to UK 'till 2021 so I've found a dealer that will allow me to purchase now , start on my long list of mods, and take delivery in 2021. (Thanks Sykes of Lewes UK and Sandy Cauldfield in particular). I disagree with Matt on that rear Butt light, I hate it, and getting rid of it is one of my mods. However, I'm keeping the rear fender as I love that. Just FYI my mods list. 1. Stage 3 114 - 117. 2. Bassani road Rage III 2:1 exhaust black. 3. Fuelpak FP3. 4. Arlen Ness 65° AC. 5. Biltwell Murdock 8" Pullback risers with stock bars. 6. Saddlemen Step up seat with 'gripper' finish. 7. Defiance collection pegs all round (including pillion). 8. Heated grips. 9. HD optional larger fairing. 10. Custom Dynamics RingZ integrated LED front running light / turn signals 11. Colorado LED rear light LED brake / turn / lights 12. Side mounted license plate holder. 13. Black clutch / brake levers. 14. Plain denim black derby cover. 15. Flush mounted black fuel cap / gauge. 16. Flip mirrors to below bars. 17. Lithium battery & optimate charger / tender system.
@@mojomanmurph1925 They're ok on a side mount and you can cut them down within reason so long as the letters remain the 'standard' size. I got mine in vivid black last week and have ridden it everyday since. It's my first Harley and I have no regrets. The factory exhaust is pretty tame and right now the aftermarket is just beginning so looking forward to throwing some personal touches. My first "mod" was the license plate frame. Stock literally looks like a sail. Next up some LED switchbacks front and rear, exhaust, risers, seat and a sissy bar. Now if only my parts guy would hurry the f&$k up!
Matt or Nick , I know you guys are in short supply of these BUT would one of your customers let you show their low rider s with different bars ect. Love your videos and the way your dealership represents HD.
Hi there Matt! Your videos are just getting better and better. When I first started watching your vid´s years ago they had a need for improvement but now.... They are everything I ever could wish for in the HD/motorcycle review world!!! The editing... man, WOW! This just simply is THE channel for Harley content, period! About the bike. I have not tried it yet, I´m sure it deliveres. But I can´t shake off the feeling of disapointment anyway. As you mentioned, the original bike was something special with that engine and styling. Now it just feels like a styling excercise. Nothing special really. More engine, a cruise control maybe... It sure is beautiful bike. I agree with you on the tail light, it´s sweet! Propably a bike I would buy and tune but still, something special is missing. Keep em´ coming sir!!!
Like the new style of review, much prefer to see the rider on the bike and the drone footage is superb. Another great video. Bike looks good, but I think I’ll keep my Sport Glide.

Just got my 2020 lowrider s! Put the 2to1 exhaust and a crash bar on it! Put a few hundred miles on it the past few days it's so awesome totally worth the money and it looks great too!
I agree with Oregon Outback & MrLucky74 on several things here. 1. Great vid as usual. I always look forward to what you guys have to show and say in your content. 2. The new LRS looks amazing and I can’t wait to test ride one mainly to get a feel for that front end. 3. Love your Coast Glide and Congrats on the US win. Now conquer the world with it! 4. FXRT Fairing and Sport Glide bags along with taller suspension and T bars and it’s definitely a contender to be sitting next to the ‘08 Fat Bob in the garage!
Great video Matt. I have being waiting for this one and you blew it out of the park. A perfect, very informative video. Thanks for taking the time to produce this video. Cheers
I wonder who will be the first to compare the last made DYNA LRS with the new Softail LRS... for me the Dyna is miles ahead on handling in comparison to the Softtail for a sporty rider like me. Maybe I should note here that I was comparing a Wide Glide with a Heritage. Thanks Matt for all these extremely good Vids you constantly keep putting out, a great shame Laidlaws is not nearer to Switzerland.
Great video! Your views of the bike are much more in line with what people really want. Thanks for everything you do! Love the bike! Just not sure if I could parts ways from my Fxdls.
Test rode it earlier this week. Love it. Rode quite a few soft tails during my trip to the dealer and the low rider s really stood above the pack. I am 5'8 and I liked the height better than the fat bob. The 114 is miles better than the old 103 in the breakout I tried. And the handle and foot control position is more comfortable to me than the street bob. The power is more noticeable above the standard 107 in the street bob too. The seat holds you in much better than the street bob too. I also took it on the highway and it just felt so smooth and comfortable. Def on my wishlist after I pay off my current rides
Great review Matt and loved the voice-over opening. It's going to be a winner for sure. Still, I'll never sell my CVO Dyna, but I've got my eye on your performance bagger!
Totally awesome video for an awesome bike. I can tell you guys put in the effort. You make a compelling case for this machine. I rode one at a demo truck event and it rocked. Also really looks great in silver.
Probably your best video yet man. I was definitely happy to see harley release this bike. The club style dyna is just now starting to take off here in the midwest here.
As always great video Matt your honest on the upgrades!! These dynatails are best bike to buy and make all your own!! 124-128 the engine and add legends shocks and just have fun!
@@kriskringle6298 yep I do know what I said the exhaust is not the engine Take a minute and look up some very old engine sounds and beautiful sounding plus if you're listening to the engine you know if something's going wrong with that engine faster than anything else Have you ever been to a steam for the very old engines they sound so beautiful raw engine sound is beautiful compared to exhaust sound
I have watched other reviews and was wondering when you were going to post a review on the low rider but I am glad you took your time and having other riders that loved the dyna was an awesome touch still love my phat boy though but real good job 👍
I test rode it and feels great..first time riding a soft tail..I’m an owner of the Dyna Low Rider 2017 not S and for me I like the Dyna better, it’s flawed and has character..and can also customize it to be as powerful as the Dyna Low Rider S, however riding the Softail was just so comfortable and easy to ride..I’d consider it but honestly wouldn’t give up my Dyna for it..if I were buying a softail today I absolutely love the FXDR as an addition to my Dyna..the new S is awesome and would love another test ride..great video..keep it up..!
Amazing video and review. I was at your dealership the other day but I didn’t know you were Matt. Love the bike and hope one day I can upgrade my current sportster to this one
Love the look. Went to the local dealer today for the intro of the 2020 bikes, but they didn't have one on the test fleet. Just static display. Road the Fat Bob instead and can only imagine how the narrow front wheel would improve the ride.
I thought I would never sell my Dyna Low Rider S, and then I took a ride on a new Fatbob the day the Softail Low Rider S was announced. It was pretty obvious it is a better bike in terms of performance. Traded my FXDLS in for the FXLRS last weekend and I LOVE IT. Just gotta get that exhaust sorted.
Close to the perfect bike... really close... fun video matt... was starting wonder if you got lost😁 turned out to be worth the wait. I will watch this one more then once. It's already time up here to put the bikes away from the winter 😤 so thanks for the videos, they help pass the time 😎
Can’t wait to see what you guys are going to do to this bike as far as making it a real club style bike. Please don’t wait to long to make that happen. Can’t wait. 👍🏻
As always, awesome job! Can't wait to see what you guys do with one. Good luck with the Coastal Glide in Italy. Now if Harley will listen and put a FXRT fairing on the Sport Glide and offer the saddlebags as an accessory for the other models I think they could get a strong footing in the younger market. Keep up the great videos!
I want to see the guy who rode the 2016 Dyna Low Rider S in the "Fast Harley POV" video ride the new one! Great video! Harley Corporation should be paying you guys for marketing videos as well. Like the interviews from three experienced riders especially Nick & Andrew due to their history with the models. After demo riding one "non-chaperoned" at a recent HOG rally, this bike will move! Fat Bob 114 was even with it but the Road King Special 114 was quicker by a few links . Handles really well in the twisties. Can't go wrong; this and the Fat Bob are great straight from the factory. Cannot even imagine what it would be like modifying the powertrain. Look forward to all the cool customizing folks are going to do with this bike. I, myself, would go with forward controls, lift the rear suspension with Ohlins or Legend suspension, then with both Pro Street & Smart Auto Tuners tapping the factory headers for the O2 sensors and Stage 2 High Performance cam. Different options depending on how you want to ride this sweet little ride. Kudos to Harley! For those who will modify, verify with the dealership what you can & cannot do in NOT voiding the warranty if that matters to you. Matt did a video on this warranty issue. It is what it is.
As others have said, I haven't watched any other review videos and have been waiting for yours! Super high quality and the cinematics are on point! Excited to trade in my FXBB later this year and get the S. I've test road it when the demo truck stopped by Huntington Beach Harley and I instantly fell in love, especially the 114 and the suspension. Completely different from the FXBB for sure, atleast to me! Keep up the videos Matt and they're getting better everytime!
I like it. They did a great job on this one. It's nearly perfect stock. I do wish they would have done clear LED turn signals though like so many other motorcycle manufacturers do today.
This bike is sweet but I still have my heart set on the Sport Glide. I need the versatility with the bags, fairing, cruise control, etc. Get at least a Stage 1 then cruise for days!
Loved watching the vid Matt, I think it’s your best to date, the drone shots were really great and the Motor Company would do well to take some of your segments and use them as part of a commercial. 👍🤙
You said that the new one is lighter.. i don’t know about that. According to specs found online the wet weight for the 2020 lowrider S is 679lbs. The wet weight for the 2016 lowrider s is 674lbs . So actually the new one is heavier by a few pounds.
I’m not sure if they actually are lighter or not but after sitting on one it definitely feels like it, I’m not sure if it is just different with weight distribution or not but it felt like a huge difference in standing the bike up compared to my dyna
If it is a pound or two heavier I would be surprised. But it helps to remember it's got a larger tank, almost double the oil capacity, larger 180 rear tire as well. But the bike feels lighter and has more aluminum, and the bike is 90 percent stiffer or something crazy like that.
how often do you really look at your speedo lol. ill admit , i basically just drive at whatever speed i feel comfortable at , and i only look at speed if i see a cop or im going through a spot where i know a cop usually sits.
I liked the Fat Bob initially but my favorite Softail is the new Lowrider S... I liked the old one alot... A smart move by Harley as the Lowrider S had a big fan base.. I am excited to see the Pan America with the new liquid cooled engine next... I hope Harley will blow our minds...
That was an incredible vlog Matt. Great production value. I sat on the new Lowrider S and I felt crunched on it. I would need forward controls. I like to stretch out. I’m curious being your height how you felt sitting on the bike? Keep up the great work guys. Loved the location shots and your insights on the bike.

10. Custom Dynamics RingZ integrated LED front running light / turn signals
11. Colorado LED rear light LED brake / turn / lights
12. Side mounted license plate holder.
13. Black clutch / brake levers.
14. Plain denim black derby cover.
15. Flush mounted black fuel cap / gauge.
16. Flip mirrors to below bars.
17. Lithium battery & optimate charger / tender system.
But you folks have to have those big ole ugly yellow license plates. You all need to petition to get that changed.
@@mojomanmurph1925 They're ok on a side mount and you can cut them down within reason so long as the letters remain the 'standard' size. Although doing so ends up being a pain as it's attracts police like shit attracts fleas. That said, there aren't many traffic cops in the UK these days, it's mainly 'cameras' now.
Great job on the video this is the first one I’ve seen that does this bike justice!
Coming very shortly.
WOW 😮
What a video !
The first 1:55 is the Power House!
The narrative , the editing ....
👌👍💪🤘
Hats 🎩 off to you Matt !
✌️
Thank you!!
"Picking up a passenger mid ride or spur of the moment." Sounds interesting, I like where this is going, go on...
I read a similar story in Penthouse.
That was the ending scene of Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man.
Paul O'Neal YES!!!!
@@dickjohnson5025 It would be perfect if your middle name was Peter...
This is great! Thank you for your unbiased opinions and comparing the good and bad of both the Dyna & Softail models
Thanks Matt! I was looking forward to this review. This bike really has my attention. Hope you have a decent supply of these on hand!
Aaron Ross we have run out!!
Awesome vid Matt, I like the new approach and editing.
Was just riding my buddies twin cam lowrider s yesterday, really sweet ride. Makes my road glide feel like a monster
I must admit, the 8 valve evo panhead rocks. I currently own a 2012 Twin cam Heritage Softail. But if I ever "update"...
😂 never heard the M8 called that before but you got a point. Haha.
Great review and test ride on the new Low Rider S! I am excitedly looking forward to getting my hands on one.
soon to be most ever viewed every by Matt
Like the new style of review, much prefer to see the rider on the bike and the drone footage is superb. Another great video. Bike looks good, but I think I’ll keep my Sport Glide.
Once a dyna man always a dyna man.more please because we are not going away anytime soon.proud owner of a 2002 FXD. now sporting an S&S 124 CU ENGINE.after the oil pump broke in half.keep up the good work.following you from great britain.
Just got my 2020 lowrider s! Put the 2to1 exhaust and a crash bar on it! Put a few hundred miles on it the past few days it's so awesome totally worth the money and it looks great too!
Nice man. Enjoy the bike 👍🏻
Just bought mine today, fresh off the truck. I pick it up first thing in the morning!!
Great video Matt. I have being waiting for this one and you blew it out of the park. A perfect, very informative video. Thanks for taking the time to produce this video. Cheers
Thank you and thanks for watching.
Just bought mine! Wow, it’s an amazing machine!
I have a 2015 dyna low rider that I love but the 20 low rider S is my dream bike.., great video Matt.
Where in LA is that view at? Love LA
Nice detailed vid
I started my Harley journey 🤙🏼🖤
Hands down best review! Fantastic job on the video!
Great cinematography, Matt 👍🏻
Been waiting for this video to come out! Thanks guys!
Totally awesome video for an awesome bike. I can tell you guys put in the effort. You make a compelling case for this machine. I rode one at a demo truck event and it rocked. Also really looks great in silver.
Thanks man
Excellent video
Probably your best video yet man. I was definitely happy to see harley release this bike. The club style dyna is just now starting to take off here in the midwest here.
Thanks man. 👍🏻 we definitely invested some time into this one.
Can you do a video about differentiating every softails and another video about differentiating sportsters and so on and so forth.
As always great video Matt your honest on the upgrades!! These dynatails are best bike to buy and make all your own!! 124-128 the engine and add legends shocks and just have fun!
Dude! This video was epic. Definitely next level for Moto videos
I love it when you can hear the engine not the exhaust
The engine is the heart and soul of the motorcycle
@@kriskringle6298 yep I do know what I said the exhaust is not the engine
Take a minute and look up some very old engine sounds and beautiful sounding
plus if you're listening to the engine you know if something's going wrong with that engine faster than anything else
Have you ever been to a steam for the very old engines they sound so beautiful raw engine sound is beautiful compared to exhaust sound
The day Alaska got one I bought it fresh out the box got rid of the ole 113ci road king for the FXLRS and happy I did it
I have watched other reviews and was wondering when you were going to post a review on the low rider but I am glad you took your time and having other riders that loved the dyna was an awesome touch still love my phat boy though but real good job 👍
My identity has been revealed. Darn haha
That is - a projected image up a little taller than on the tank. Thanks again for your awesome review.
Love the look. Went to the local dealer today for the intro of the 2020 bikes, but they didn't have one on the test fleet. Just static display. Road the Fat Bob instead and can only imagine how the narrow front wheel would improve the ride.
I'M GETTING MINE SO SOON!!!!!!!
Stick with Screamin Eagle or kill your warranty lol
@@mopar21 I'm gonna ride about 5,000 miles, make sure there are no factory defects, then do my thing. No big deal
@@sylentmyst right on most of the oil sump related failures are under 2k miles.
@@mopar21 That was my thinking!
I got to ride this at a demo day last week. It is amazing!!
Close to the perfect bike... really close... fun video matt... was starting wonder if you got lost😁 turned out to be worth the wait. I will watch this one more then once. It's already time up here to put the bikes away from the winter 😤 so thanks for the videos, they help pass the time 😎
That was an awesome intro. That will stick with me for years. Very moving.
Thanks man. 👍🏻
Missed out on keeping my brothers 2017 Low Rider S. Now that I’ll soon be getting a new bike.
This 2020 Low Rider S is in my sights.
I'm older than the hills, and ended up buying a Sport Glide. It checks almost all the boxes for what you want.
Nice Espinoza vest.
Thanks man. We appreciate the comment. 👍🏻
Thanks man! Come see me when you’re ready to trade in. 👍🏻
Love the rear fender and tail light!
Sport glide is nice. The bags make that bike.
Loved watching the vid Matt, I think it’s your best to date, the drone shots were really great and the Motor Company would do well to take some of your segments and use them as part of a commercial. 👍🤙
I’m three months into owning my dream 114 fatboy.. not even been tempted to look at any other models, they didn’t interest me . Until now..... damn.
Then again I’ve got taller shocks on mine so take it with a grain of salt since that changes things
It feels lighter when you lift off the side stand
If it is a pound or two heavier I would be surprised. But it helps to remember it's got a larger tank, almost double the oil capacity, larger 180 rear tire as well.
But the bike feels lighter and has more aluminum, and the bike is 90 percent stiffer or something crazy like that.
how often do you really look at your speedo lol. ill admit , i basically just drive at whatever speed i feel comfortable at , and i only look at speed if i see a cop or im going through a spot where i know a cop usually sits.
Dalton Michaels very true man. I kinda have the same habit.
Sad to hear, come to germany we have no speedlimit here on highways:3
You don’t have to look at your speedo on a Harley because it takes 5min to get to the ton.
Dick Johnson I don’t get it.
I test rode one about 2 weeks ago loved everything about it can’t wait to get one later on
just ordered mine today in barkuda silver😎 Denmark
Amazing review Matt 🤘🏽😎
Thanks man. I’m definitely too tall for the rider triangle this bike puts you in. I can still enjoy it for a couple hours though.
Great video. Who's (seller) vest are you wearing?
Espinoza Leathers. Same town as Laidlaws, the leather shop is across the street from the old Laidlaws location.
@@DEVOn.A.Skertic thanks.
Love this bike. Just got a 2019 roadster a month ago but the lowrdier s will be my next bike. I will be visiting laidlaw HD for sure.
Love the wrinkle black over gloss. Wish HD would do that, blacked out finishes....
Damn this review was surprisingly well made
Thanks again for a great video matt but this time the music was a bit loud and sound very echoing when watched through a sound system. Cheers just some feedback.
Epic introduction and great video. Thanks Matt! Rock on 🤟
