I think what makes this universe a bit more retro and futuristic would be the existence of Victor Timely, thus making technological advancements 100 years earlier than the 616 universe 🤷🏾♂️ that's just me tho 😂😅
The third rail that is the Magneto problem is incredibly hard to get around I can see an angle being they introduce Fabian Cortez as someone who's been by Magnetos side for years invigorating him and keeping him young and fresh. This has been done in story lines before and his corruption at the hands of Fabian Cortez could be a reason for Charles to "rescue" him or maybe somehow create Onslaught.
XMen the Animated Series moved around that "problem" just fine by not making him part of The Holocaust, just an unnamed war... and that is bar none the best iteration of Magnus in any medium. Disagree that him having been part of The Holocaust is that fundamental to his character.

This is going to blow those people's minds who have been watching all these MCU movies for the last 30 years they're going to be losing their crap.
The key to the what if scenario for the fantastic 4 universe could be that the Tesseract was found after the events of Captain America and successfully harnessed as a power source by Reed Richards instead of landing in the hands of Howard Stark.
This seems too clever for Marvel to actually do, but if they did, would they retain the cast members associated with those MCU characters? You’d think that cosmic circus would be leaking this information.
This problem of Magneto's age is already fixed in canon, in the 90s Magneto was de-aged and rasied by Moira McTaggert before being re-aged right before the 90s relaunch that gave us the Gold and Blue teams. They could even keep the same casting as the First class casting.

I don't see much similarity between Mr Pascal and John Krasinski (who plays Reed in Doctor Strange 2); I would not be surprised if these FF from the 60's would not survive the incursion menacing their planet, but Magneto would. Magneto could thus play his role in the Mutant Saga, his origin story intact, and we would get another First Family with an origin story set in the 2020's, a team more adapted to the darker, grittier stories to come. I would not feel cheated if our future FF (not the Pascal-led team) boarded a rocket in the 60's but disappeared in the Negative Zons for a while before coming back.
@@jarednavarrete1740 It gives us a glimpse of what's going in other universes, we'll learn first hand that when incursions happen we loose (at least) one universe. That particular incursion also allows Magneto (and probably a few other heros/villains [Doom?]) to cross over to "our" universe. Keep in mind that this is only a wild guess.😬🤷🏼♂️
As a Silver ager, the current disjointed MCU has never sat well with me due to the contractual obligations. I’ve been saying for a long time they need to reboot the past, now they’ve got all the options open to them.
December 1963 was the aftermath of the assassination of JFK. That was a pivotal moment in American and world history which was seem to be a stronger reason to set the movie in this period. And a historical figure strongly connected to the space race and the fight for civil rights. Themes which are part of the fictional histories of the FF and mutants.
You're calling it the Magneto problem, but wouldn't it be Magneto and Professor X. Maybe I was misunderstanding, but I though that they were approximately the same age. I know Charles wasn't a holocaust victim, but if cannon has established them to be the same age, I would think that the same delema would apply. His sister could be explained for being locked away in the Void.
So the way im thinking about it is basically the Spiderman life story comic, where you see him actually living through the times of the 60s, 70s, and so on. Which is really cool seeing him in that era, opposed to how much of us see spiderman now with the modern more relevent multiverse stuff. Hope that this theory is true. Would love to see the original marvel comicbook line up in live action.
This definitely solves the magneto problem. I love this idea. And it won’t be as if mutants were hiding this entire time. Post secret wars is going to be crazy
I absolutely adore the idea of 2 HUGE timelines playing alongside eachother, I wouldn't even mind if they took a break from the MCU and brought us into this alternate MCU for a few movies and shows (they wouldnt) but it be sick
NO. Those months on comic covers were NOT the month they came out, it was the last month they could be returned for a full refund by sellers. Why does everyone get this wrong? Have they never wondered why Christmas themed comics always say “Feb” or “Mar?”
I just had a wild thought - what if the universe that Fantastic Four is set in is the alternate timeline created when Steve went back to stay with Peggy? I couldn't see him just sitting by while tons of world atrocities happened. And it's not like he could stay hidden for 80 years, people would recognize him. Maybe he made the world so much better in the 40s and 50s that science and technology progressed a lot which paved the way for the Fantastic Four to exist.
I just wonder why they give Reed richards a Howard Stark Beard, I mean, thats Reed, not Walt Disney and Reed never had a Beard in the comics as I remember.
OMFGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDD I have not been hyped for a a Marvel movie like this in a while. If Erics theory turns out to be what happens (which it makes complete sense and would be the best thing the MCU ever did) this will be this is going to be a ground breaking movie
I like this idea - and have questions. It seems you're also suggesting that the Fantastic Four 60s universe will collide with the MCU universe in what would be the equivalent of the Marvel Universe and the Ultimate Universe colliding in the lead up to Secret Wars 2015. Where does that leave Deadpool's universe? I know there's a lot of speculation that Galactus will devour Earth in FF, sending the First Family into the multiverse. What happens then? How does the Fantastic Four universe interact in the multiverse after that? Maybe Doom and Richards work together to create a lifeboat, ala Secret Wars 2015 that lands them in The Void, soon to become Battleworld? Does Doom pull the Manhattan of 1963's Fantastic Four into The Void, verifying his ability to pull pieces of multiple universes onto Battleworld? Basically, what really happens to this universe? And when?
They may need to "Captain" Magneto and either freeze him or have him go into a mysterious wormhole (ala what if) to keep a younger Magneto in the current time line. They could do the same thing to Charles, cause them having history is fairly important to the rivalry.
I think this is all headed towards FF failing to stop Galactus, and in a mad dash to some sort of global Doom-timedoor lifeboat for any and all to use, many (but not all) 60's era heroes and villains save as many humans as they can and wind up plunged in what we now know as the MCU. Just as *it* is about to be destroyed by its OWN Galactus (but without the FF in the MCU to help stop it). And when ALL of the Galactus variants succeed in every timeline, Doom has no choice but to use whatever all-powerful device he can get his hands on (Gauntlet, Nullifier, syphoning off The Sentry, whatever) to sew everything into Battleworld in Secret Wars, and out of that will come The One True Marvel Cinematic Universe. Like I said elsewhere, I think they have pivoted not so much from Kang being the Big Bad, but the Multiverse *itself* as the ultimate "villain" (conceptually) that has to be reined in like Loki pulling stories back together after Loki Season 2. Secret Wars will be the conflict of "do you destroy the multiverse to make sure SOMEone survives, like He Who Remains' original plan? or do you insist that there must be another way?" Reed will be haunted by his failure, and Doom will never, EVER let him live it down that HE had to fix Richards' mistake.
I like the first part of your argument, but I believe Kevin Feige said in a podcast that there’s only one Galactus. On the other hand, it looks like there are multiple Silver Surfers so who knows. 🤷♂️
So what if first steps is actually them restarting before secret wars. The mcu 616 is actually a screwed time line because of kang. And the fantastic fours timeline is the one to save?
My impulsive brain is having a casting party: McKellen x Stewart Fassbender x McAvoy Campbell Bower x Highmore Coster-Waldau x McGregor Mortensen x Oldman Day-Lewis x Fiennes
I really want, hope ,wish and believe that the f4 60's universe will be the next og marvel universe after secret wars which have all marvel characters in it,the complete version
As much as we loved the journey and all the accomplishments Marvel has made over the last 15 years I would find it hilarious if everything leading up till now was just a prequel or an origin story to set up the Fantastic Four and a true Marvel Cinematic Universe based off them being the first superhero family and which would fall in line with them wanting to make this all a true reboot and start fresh Kevin is still in his fifties and he'll probably hold on to the title for at least 20 more years
I think it would be interesting if the What If... concept to being about the first steps alternate reality were "what if hydra had been crushed early on?" A lot of the villainy in the mcu has been hydra-based so far. It would be a much different hero world for them.
🚨Listen, what will make the Mutant Saga work, and have the fans really feel torn, is having mutants merge into our 616 universe. Even you the viewer will feel some kind of way…that mutants are all of a sudden here with us, AND using our finite resources, and they all have super powers? WTF!? Which will make it feel like they are truly outcasts.
Bugs me to hear Doom’s Time Platform called a “door.” It was originally called a platform, the term timedoor wasn’t used until much later, and as a way to describe what the platform form does (creates time doors).
What if this film is set in 616, but just an alternate timeline in 616? Perhaps the one Steve created when he went back to stay with Peggy? Perhaps him being there made the world so much better than it allowed the techno-futuristic world they depict to develop. Maybe he prevents some tragedy that killed Reed Richards in the main 616 timeline.
If we do get cameos or other hero’s in like a newspaper or something in this photo like a pic of spice in a daily bugle costume I hope his costume looks very retro and goofy for a 60s vibe
I think it would be interesting if there is a variant of doctor doom in universe 838 and he has some sort of animosity (or interest) towards 616 for what happened in the events of multiverse of madness. That universes' Reed Richards did use some Doctor Doom tech in the scene where he was introduced. Also in universe 838 the Ultron bots could have been good bots because Doom and Reed worked on that universes' Ultron program and not Stark. Now that Robert Downey Jr has been cast as Dr Doom the events of multiverse of madness could now be retconned to Robert Downey Jr as Doctor Doom, maybe even that Tony Stark variant who became Doctor Doom 🤔
For a retro futuristic society as is pitched for the setting, the world's technology had to have progressed at a much faster rate to have hover cars by the year 1963. So the historical events would look vastly different to own own historical events to better first they're rate if technological progression. So not only does magneto have a slightly different origin but so does everyone else.
magneto can be healed and de-aged by exposure to earth electromagnetic field. in the x-men animated series he used his powers so much he was falling apart on the molecular level and was thrown out of the airlock on asteroid M in an assassination attempt. He later came back stronger than ever as the earth healed him.
I think there is multiple ways to have a Magneto that originated in the MCU 616. I know that this particular idea would skip a lot of set up for the X-Men/Mutants, but they could easily state that Xavier had been manipulating the situation by "hiding" all mutants for their protection to wait for a better time to become known. To the point where the universe is attempting to correct that by having mutants pop up still, like Ms. Marvel. Yes, that would mean we would have Mutants already established within the MCU but then they could have any age range they wanted. This could also play into the concept of Magneto doing what he thinks is right and fighting against Xavier. Magneto always states "We already tried your way Charles" like 30 seconds after the start of attempting to try Xavier's method(s). This would allow ground work for Xavier's plan to see a full attempt and for Magneto to not go with what Xavier wants do to failing already. It's not the best way as it skips the foundational time period(s) of characters and just plops them into the MCU with no set up, but it is a method.
Sadly, there are plenty of other atrocities since WWII that Magneto's origin COULD be tied to, instead. However, mutants, it has always been established in the comics, are hardier than ordinary humans by varying degrees. They even all have a minor healing factor (nothing like Wolverine, but enough to keep them from dying from internal bleeding from being beaten up in a fight, for example. So mutants having longer lives wouldn't even be a stretch.
I think secret wars will end in a sort of collision between universes leading to a reset of sorts where all our main characters remember the past timeline but no one else does and having this reset move the timeline a few years back could allow magneto to maintain his origin aswell as establishing mutants as a pre existing species instead of having them appear out the blue.
What do you think about this Magneto Problem? Are there other ways for Marvel Studios to get around it?
I think what makes this universe a bit more retro and futuristic would be the existence of Victor Timely, thus making technological advancements 100 years earlier than the 616 universe 🤷🏾♂️ that's just me tho 😂😅

@@ironshoes1720 Then what's the point of this 60s team?
@@jarednavarrete1740 It gives us a glimpse of what's going in other universes, we'll learn first hand that when incursions happen we loose (at least) one universe. That particular incursion also allows Magneto (and probably a few other heros/villains [Doom?]) to cross over to "our" universe.
Keep in mind that this is only a wild guess.😬🤷🏼♂️
I'd like a South Asian looking Reed Richards. Someone like Roshan Seth in his hey-days.
As a Silver ager, the current disjointed MCU has never sat well with me due to the contractual obligations. I’ve been saying for a long time they need to reboot the past, now they’ve got all the options open to them.
This was well put! I really hope it turns out like that!
3:14 what if kang didn’t trim the sacred timeline
But doesn't Loki control the sacred timeline now?
@user-zf2ru4eq4w he's not pruning the timeline though, he's just letting each timeline playout.
it is valentine's day, so February 1964.
I agree. Magneto and Xavier should always go together, they are like ying and yang of a story
I think you guys nailed it. Well done
Krasinksi knowing about the 60s f4 is a crazy reach from strange just mocking his team
He knows about Incursions and the Multiverse. I don't think it's that crazy of a reach for him to know about other Reeds in other universes.
Council of Reeds
N4t i agree with you on that one
Great vid
Great theory about how Marvel will solve the Magneto problem!
jeeeeeeeezzz did not realize the 60s had hits after hits
NO.
Those months on comic covers were NOT the month they came out, it was the last month they could be returned for a full refund by sellers.
Why does everyone get this wrong? Have they never wondered why Christmas themed comics always say “Feb” or “Mar?”
Today I learned
@@markanderson7236 Always glad to spread knowledge.
Well, Reed having a beard is kind of an iconic look for him now...
@@jarednavarrete1740yes, now it is... but the classic one is with no beard and with white hair on the side of his hair
And when?
Love watching your vids when I’m buzzzzzzed 🤣
I wonder how the TVA ties into this alternate universe considering that the entire TVA looks like a time capsule from the 1960s as well.
i love the info
So what if first steps is actually them restarting before secret wars. The mcu 616 is actually a screwed time line because of kang. And the fantastic fours timeline is the one to save?
My impulsive brain is having a casting party:
McKellen x Stewart
Fassbender x McAvoy
Campbell Bower x Highmore
Coster-Waldau x McGregor
Mortensen x Oldman
Day-Lewis x Fiennes
This was great! Can't wait!
I wonder if see will see Beast and Monica Rambo inthis world?
I really want, hope ,wish and believe that the f4 60's universe will be the next og marvel universe after secret wars which have all marvel characters in it,the complete version
Reed and Doom meeting when on the Manhattan project?
P.S. As I just Tweeted/Xed you, it's possible Strange was talking about the Fantastic Four R&B band, who *did* chart in the '60s!!!
"Present" day MCU isn't set in 2019 though.
True. We're either in 2025 or 2026, depending on when The Marvels takes place.

I bet dr doom/ Victor is the marvel equivalent of the Oppenheimer. And that’s why the world is like that
Bugs me to hear Doom’s Time Platform called a “door.” It was originally called a platform, the term timedoor wasn’t used until much later, and as a way to describe what the platform form does (creates time doors).
Having them moved forward in time due the universes colliding is probably the most reasonable solution
There actually was a group in the 1960s called the fantastic four
I think you meant the Mephisto Problem.
Mephisto All Along
If we do get cameos or other hero’s in like a newspaper or something in this photo like a pic of spice in a daily bugle costume I hope his costume looks very retro and goofy for a 60s vibe
Not enough circles, I need MORE.
If they’re doing the 60s time period would be cool to see Spiderman noir
Since it’s Valentines Day, wouldn’t it be Feb 1964? Since he’s reading a magazine from Dec
they released the poster on valentines day they didn't say that month it's in
I just think its a different media, Let each one be its own thing and stand alone. No Live-action can satisfy the audience
There was a vocal group Fantastic Four that formed in 1965.
I was born Dec 13, 1963 so I approve of them choosing this date. BTW, it was a Friday so Friday the 13th.
I thought Marvel said there isn't going to be any other heroes than the FF. I might be wrong, but this is what I remember.
We will see Magneto or the Winter Soldier take out Jack Kennedy
You mean John?
Magneto taking out Jackie O Kennedy would be WILD 🤣
Do some research lol
@@erikfinkel2717 Jack was a nickname, like Bobby Kennedy for RFK
@@erikfinkel2717JFK’s friends and relatives called him Jack. However, the public at large didn’t.
Captain America was introduced in the 40’s so him ig
An older Magneto took the Super Soldier serum to get younger in X-men: Evolution , I think
