I am totally with you! I don't fly much analog these days as I find it more enjoyable to just cruise in HD and chase remote control planes. I can race and do freestyle but nothing brings me the joy of HD FPV cruising.
i dont mean to be so off topic but does someone know a tool to log back into an Instagram account? I was dumb forgot my password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
@Malcolm Jameson I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process atm. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Jon-O is absolutely correct about the arms. Not just bandos though, I broke two arms on a very mild crash. Simply hit a small branch at low speeds and it fell about 4 ft to the ground, breaking both front arms. Great frame, but those super thin arms are compromised even further by the screw holes where it sandwiches in the base plate.
This was one of the videos that encouraged me to save up for DJI goggles. Your group reviews are excellent. iFlight is making some brilliant quads. I chose the iFlight iH2 with the Caddx Vista as my first DJI quad. The Titan DC5 will be my first 5". Thanks for another great location test.
Oof that's a great ad for the HD system! That looks like a great setup to me, the best spot I've flown is in the twilight. The colours of dawn or dusk and the horizontal light makes any spot super special. I haven't flown that many places but near the ocean is epic
I own a Frsky Qx7s transmitter... is the DJI Transmitter for $299 get me anything (distance, ease of use, enhanced goggle function, ???) worth that money if I get this drone with the DJI FPV Goggles as shown in video?
I built one a few weeks ago and it flys great. But I did crash it and broke 2 arms they are weak at the screws. I replaced them and back in the air. Thank you for the video PS. Front and rear arms on the same side
I’m looking to get my first fpv setup. goggles, controller, drone and everything I’m starting to think I might be really disappointed if I don’t go straight into HD with the dji system besides being a whole shit load more money any thoughts on any other reasons why not. Thanks
1st question is if you're also interested in micro quads? If so, your only choice at the moment is analog... But if you're only interested in flying 5 Inch rigs or bigger and you still haven't invested in analog, I would say buy dji! But that's only my opinion.. I fly analog and will make the transfer next year for my bigger rigs, but I'll still keep my analog goggles for my micro quads
No I haven’t purchased anything yet The 5 inches look like that’s where it’s at! a lot more power and I think starting in HD will be the way to go thanks for confirming🤘
I have brand new DJI goggles and a brand new DJI titan 5, and Iflight Megabee. Neither the Titan or Megabee, detect the Receiver in Betaflight. Any ideas why?
Ok... I've been eyeing the DJI stuff for a bit and wondering, if I get the DJI FPV goggles and say a Titan with DJI setup, do I need the DJI flight controller or will it all work just as well with another flight controller?
You can use any rx in the drone. I just personally am planning on getting the radio so that I can not have to add an rx to all my builds, plus using the radio means you're getting basically the same distance on your rx and goggles. Plus you save a couple grams on not adding the reciever. So you don't have to, but it's more convienient
Is that footage recorded on the ground or in camera? There is quite a bit of compression artifacts in the footage.. just wondering if thats a result of transmission or the camera record...
@@smartfan_the_gardener It is (kind of) logical. Since it is a digital transmission, the cameras signal has to be encoded at some point and compressed for transmission. Now this requires a balance of compression rate with compression speed to reduce lag. Faster compression usually is less effective and normally results in reduced image quality and more artifacts, which is what this footage looks like. I would hope that this compression happens just before transmission and that an on board record would use a better codec, since it doesn't have to output in real time and therefor achieve better image quality. It was not mentioned whether the DJI system can record on board or not. My guess is that this is a ground station record...
I just got mine flying yesterday for some reason on the HUD I keep showing me poor connection to the drone the bars drop off to the red about seventy yards with the stock antennas so I switched over to the 90-degree elbow DJIs that seemed to help a little bit but it's still not as good as my holybro cinewhoop. That thing can go far and I never lose connection unless I'm on the other side of the mountain
you can use the jumper and a frsky RX if you wanted to control is and just use the AIR UNIT for FPV. But if you want to use the DJI air unit as the control link too then you need to use the DJI radio.
was gonna get te nazgul 6s now but i changed my mind to get this one + the dji goggles....is it good idea? the thing is the non dji pnp is not available so will i be able to add a reciever for other radio ? i guess yes by just soldering on the FC right? and its my only chance to get the dji goggles cheaper from local seller who has it 2 times the price from BG.
Nice video. I'm liking this quad more and more. One thought....why don't you switch the flight camera to the large view rather than showing their heads in the larger view? No real need to see your mate's heads in the fpv goggles during the whole flight.
Very good review as always! I just bought the DJI googles... but have a FrSky X-Lite-Pro . . . . . . do I need to buy also a receiver and solder it somewhere?
@@jimsmith283 true I'm just not a fan of any part of the closed universe dji likes to make now days... hay I still own a dji 450f and 550f with naza systems in both but i haven't used them in years i stopped wen they rolled over for the AMA & FAA and acted like they were complete pushovers just in the market for the money... thanks for sharing and happy flying!
I had to type in some commands just to get the unit to recognize the controller. There's a tutorial on TH-cam, and my connection is not that good. I wonder if it has to do with that
sadly the recording quality of the DJI Air Unit is sort of terrible, in a low contrast environment the compression is way too strong. its perfect to transmit to the googles, but it also does record like this.
Just bought the T16 Pro Carbon, Ordered the DC3 with DJI AIR unit from China, so by the time it gets here I will be able to buy the DJI Goggles...LOL I will also be buying the DC5 within the next six weeks. After that I will have to let it breath and come of the ramen diet...lol
Wow! you and the boys nailed this! Yup tomorrow I'm selling all my analog drones. You guys sold me! Only question I have and if someone can reply. Am I better off going with the DJI controller or stay with my Qx7 with TBS? (greetings from Boston) Subbed!
Hey mate, So it's late 2020...would you still buy this one? If not...what is similar or better with the same effect of "making all of you grin like kids with a dirty little secret" ?
Stu your are uncanny with your videos went for a mid range cruise around farm yesterday with nazgul 5. Starting looking at 7 long range rigs. Then you show this only have 2 5 inch quads easy change over my will to resist dji hd fpv is really starting to wan cheers ps anyone looking for a used mavic pro lol
That would be perfect for flying the mountains and the grand canyon out where I live!! As for the price, fingers crossed I win the lotto...that DJI stuff is spendy mate lol!!!!!
Stew...c'mon seriously. How long are we have to wait for some Tricopter build with 45min-1h autonomy? Some basic & 'Pro' build ver. below 300$ If anyone can muster it, you can. Thx
So to sum it up this video is watching 4 guys get white stains. Hahahahahh. I get what you mean though. I recently got the mavic mini just for those lazy "i wanna fly something" days. Awesome vid keep it up.
I miss a GPS a bit - if it goes out of range quickly (e.g. descend behind the cliff), the GPS might be relevant... In a drone of this price, I would expect it.
99% of race drones do not use a GPS. they are all manual control and the general consensus is that the simpler the better. We crash the daily and it is just one more thing to break.
Glad although your mad, at least you are using the goggles. I mean I kinda want one within the next year to see how it is and I’m getting used to everyone using it.
Need a review for the standard person that makes this purchase. My DC5 showed up a week ago. First flights, spin out of control each and every time. Iflight support sending different configs everyday but the DC5 is just garbage. DJI HD camera is dead now along with quad itself not powering on. Entire experience has been horrible. Glad iflight worked for you.

Compare the DC5 to the DC3. Is the DC3 also a long range cruiser? Or is it better for freestyle? Or is it just smaller and cheaper?
The only thing is missing is a GPS return module, just in case you lose link. How about adding sonar, or lidar?
I would love to go back to the cliffs of Oahu this time with my DJI FPV system. Cheers guys.
Awesome I'm in the middle of building a DC5. So this is good to hear. Thanks stew.

does the dji goggle let you fly wherever, or it has the nfzs?
Please post a stock CLI dump of the flight controller settings

DJI hopping on the FPV 'Racing Drone' wave, I see.
I'm not even that mad... they did a sick job.
Great vid! Good to see footage, a bench look and a bunch of opinions and flights in different styles and places!! Looks like a fun quad!
Hey! Really been considering the DC5 6s vs vs Nazgul5 6s vs Titan XL5 6s, any preference? Which 4s and 6s battery did you use with the DC5? Thank you!
Always fun to watch you guys fly.
soory i have a big cuestion whit this drone I NEED THE FPV DJI CONTROLLER OR I CAN USE ANY CONTROLER?
thinking of buying this as my first fpv drone as im more into the filmography side of things than the racing
Is that footage recorded on the ground or in camera? There is quite a bit of compression artifacts in the footage.. just wondering if thats a result of transmission or the camera record...
Is it filmed in the air Unit i think because i have the same theme with my Copter. I dont know why it is so. It is not logical 🤷🏼♂️

What FrSky thingy did you say i can equip to allow me Longer range/ compatible with Taranis X9D
Does it come with the controller or can I use my phone?

How well does it carry a gopro
Dude this guy... Left you with no answer.
Hi where can I Purchase this whole set up ?
So happy I just order my sours one 7" deadcat from RDQ I promise it will never carry DJI trash!

Hi, i have the same drone 6s,
I'm trying different pid and filters .... how do you fly with pid and stock filters?
That what sucks with the hex.. extra props in the view..
Man!!!! The poetic guy convinced me to get one of these drones.
Looking at Buying one of these. What props and 6s battery do you recommend? And what type of fly time do you get with that battery.

What's the difference between the XL5 and the DC5?? Which one is better? The DC cost at BG 366€ the XL 406€. Better hardware? I need an answer 😁😁😁
Bravo! Definitely one in my future! Thanks, Stew.... and the footage was just gorgeous.
Great video Stew, my DJI Wishlist just keeps getting longer.
9:15 that's the FPV feed from the goggles?
Listen to what he says...
sadly the recording quality of the DJI Air Unit is sort of terrible, in a low contrast environment the compression is way too strong. its perfect to transmit to the googles, but it also does record like this.
Hello! Use 6s battery?
I wish there was a way to protect the camera AND get the props out of view!
Does it have telemetry in the osd?
Stew, check out the crazy DJI update they just realeased. FULL OSD SUPPORT and much more!!!!
