No no that’s no shade, that’s a fact. A garment is only allowed to bear the label “Haute Couture” if it has been produced in the conditions declared by the Chambre Syndicale of Haute Couture in Paris. That’s the government’s body in the textile industry in France, so it’s law. And one of the conditions is that it’s been produced in Paris. Otherwise why would these fashion houses keep their ateliers in Paris? That’s so expensive, and makes no sense if it wasn’t a condition. That’s why after visiting clients for fittings, the premières fly all the way back to Paris before changing anything that they could have changed where the client was. Makes sense?
None of the trash that’s being produced in the Far-East countries like Lebanon, Bangladesh, Thailand or similar that’s being called “Couture” on Instagram of when worn in movies is actually Haute Couture. It could never compare. Only specialists can appreciate the technical mastery of real Couture, but the wearer sure can appreciate the supreme product. And of course the human aspect is impossible to overvalue. That’s the true luxury.
@@unknownunknown-lr8ro But the price is not what makes Couture into Couture. It's the craftmaship and the techniques used behind it that do. The term you could use instead is "custom made" or "handmade". But it's only Couture if made by a maison de couture in Paris.
This is a relatively 'simple' piece of Haute Couture also, and yet still so much work goes into every last detail. Now imagine the amount of work that goes into the huge evening gowns and wedding dresses. Haute Couture is truly an art.
many people think its easy for a designer to give things cheap but many people dont know that its alot of hours of work. haute couture is one of kind, expensive, unique and many details sewed by hand.
The public must understand that Chanel Haute Couture is an art form. It is not for everyone --- nor was it ever meant for " the masses" but a haute couture suit from Chanel will last for decades... easily 20 - 30 years --- unless you are not watching your weight! And it is the investment for a lifetime. Just like a piece of art.
Łucja go for the location not for the boutique; it's terrible. Busy loud and no great service as it's the equivalent of Disney world but Chanel.... it's go in get out
This makes Haute Couture seem accessible, achievable and democratic; which of course it isn't, shouldn't and will never be! And nor should it! Vive CHANEL!
+Yuja H I have 😊😊😊 I assure you, if you spend enough money at a design house that makes couture you will be invited to the couture shows and viewings in New York. Chanel and Valentino do this. That documentary is ancient and not relevant anymore, a lot has changed.
Robertking1996 wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong. and FYI you can't spend 100,000 USD at Chanel Couture, it's France sweetie. EURO. Couture you seem to mistake for 'branding'. It's a separate entity. You can buy sunglasses, handbags etc, but can you get a fitting for a custom fit, unique never to be repeated couture gown that takes 24 craftspeople hundreds of hours to execute. I don't think 'money' gets you those appointments...
+donglabong some women who buy expensive chanel jewelry are invited to the chanel couture shows, but also you don't need to attend a show to buy the clothes, many haute couture customers from the Middle East never go to the shows and they still buy haute couture dresses, if you have the money you can get the clothes.
+donglabong you are incorrect, I'm not lying? You're kind of way out of loop on how it works currently. Actually all brands are doing this now, IF you do spend a significant amount of money at the retail level they will invite you to all brand events and but serious spenders get invites to the show in Paris ready to wear & couture! $100,000 sounds about right for Chanel, I'm sure the amount at Vuitton must be lower. FYI they show the couture pieces at Chanel headquarters in New York City all the time to special clients, they will make a form of your body if you don't have time to always go to Paris.
Chanel - Pure beauty, constructed with amazing craftsmanship. Made to perfection with number order for authenticity and original creation - fitted to perfection. A masterpiece.
This is the ultimate marketing but they don’t make it to be an ad They make it so you know who they are They don’t say buy this because it’ll make you look fabulous They want you to really know the story behind their work And I admire Chanel for that very reason
+JHONATTANFF but it will still never come close to chanel's greatness. only a replica made in 10 hours with the aid of a machine. haute couture takes time and has many unique techniques not found elsewhere.
JHONATTANFF what i'm saying is that HAUTE COUTURE is different from a sewing machine project. even if you did make it yourself, its a replica. haute couture has many years of history behind it and is a very slowly dying art form that takes decades to master. from the "cigarette" to the chain that adds weight to the jacket, its all very innovative and that's what haute couture is
Amazing that Madame Jacqueline (and presumably a team) flies with the jacket to personally carry out the fitting on the client. She is the head of the tailoring atelier, so of course she’s the most qualified.

I was lost at the cigarette part. Anyone can explain it to me?? So they add in a 2cm long fabric under the shoulder to secure the shape. How?? I mean in which direction they sewed it??
the cigarette if you ever had the opportunity to open any tailored jacket or suit is just a piece of fabric thats is sewn vertically in the direction of the shoulder to the sleeve taking the lining, somehow serves to stop both pieces including ensuring that the shoulder lining does not move
Save little money from your income, wait for christmas or summer sales, you might be able to find one in bargain price! I hope by now u already bought the jacket
Hey, could someone explain a few of these things to me? 1. When she says "Round off the back for boldness", what exactly does that mean? 2. When you baste together the individual pieces, how do you get it to actually look like a REAL jacket? 3. How do you sew in the cigarette/chain? 4. Could this jacket be made for a male silhouette?
I just love these, not just because it's Chanel, but the graphics are so well made! Unlike the crude promotional images we see everyday

👏🏻
Yeah, it's a legally protected status over there.
There are only 2 brands who do Haute Couture in the world: Dior and Chanel and some guests over the years because there are a lot of requirements
Nah that is not true there is actually about 15 Haute Couture Houses, like Jean Paul Gaultier, Schiaparelli, or Yiqing Yin@@raniasouissi8001
