And thank you, Amy Goodman, for continuing to bring these courageous women into these on-camera dialogues, in order to keep the focus on this critical issue of the imbalance of power. This intelligent conversation really helps to show how complex and deeply-embedded this societal pathology truly is. And, it will take serious, ongoing attention to help dislodge some of these 'norms' of male dominance and abuse. It exists on every level of every society around the world, because they are all still patriarchies. We're beginning to finally pull the curtain back and expose the ugliness, and insidiousness of these deep-rooted beliefs of entitlement for the male gender. And women, like Lauren and Amy, are so essential in moving this issue forward. Thank you, again!!
@Fic9 walk in someone's shoes before shaming them. Watch all the interviews with Weinstein's victims and staff, then comment. She wasn't the only one too afraid to speak up. The amazing thing is that she did. She could have resigned without ever saying anything but she spoke up and now finds herself in a position where people - like you, judge her without ever having met her. I had an abusive boss in my 20's but he wasn't famous and certainly nowhere near as sexually abusive as Weinstein but he was disgusting. I resigned and got the hell out of there. To be the first person to lodge a formal complaint about someone as powerfully abusive as Weinstein in the environment they were in takes guts not many people have.

Bc the average male believes that rape is a common female fantasy. I poisoned a guy with exlax for less. I'm celibate 20yrs. I don't fk with men anymore. If they try me, I will kill one.
LEGIT SAM 6IX While I agree that many men have wildly warped sexual perspectives and often senselessly project them on others... You do not need to hold such bitterness toward all men. I was attacked when I was 17 years old by a very large male family friend, who I (and my whole family) knew and trusted deeply. I fought very hard physically. It was premeditated. He had me come over to his house for a “surprise party”. All of the cars were parked down the street so the “surprise wouldn’t be ruined”. I entered the house and everyone was “hiding upstairs”.... Luckily, he did not end up raping me. He actually just stopped what he was trying to do and started sobbing and begging for forgiveness. I still can’t believe that ever happened. You never think it will happen to you... you just hear stories... Him crying and apologizing did NOT make him attacking me okay. It DID make me re think my relationships with EVERYONE and to this day, perhaps I am a bit more paranoid than I would have been otherwise... but for that I thank him. He is far away from my family and I now, and will be forever. I am SAFER now, and so are others. I have also been married now for about two and a half years to the love of my life (an amazing man) who I have been with for about eight years. If a man ever tried attacking me again to the point where I fear for my life/grave bodily harm, I will implore my second amendment right. There are lots of evil men *and* women in this world. The best we can do, is to it join in on the evil and/or let the evil force negative change in us towards others... because then, evil wins. Anyway, sorry for the rant. All the best! 💕 😇

So interesting that this woman starting "hiding" her evident beauty around Weinstein and wasn't fully conscious of why she was doing it. I think this is what happens to most of us. The left side of the brain really wants the job, the dream job, the connection with power. The right side of the brain knows and feels the danger and takes action. This happened to me at Time Inc. in my relationships with some high-up executives. watching her near tears as she retells weeping in a parking lot with a burner phone worrying about telling her parents is super telling: the shame (unmerited), the anxiety, the financial toll (therapy, travel, legal expenses). It's terrible. Harvey Weinstein should be paying these women's costs, may he rot in jail forever. Bravo Lauren O'Connor. Millions of women think about you, support you, will help you if you set up a Go Fund Me. You're such a bright, lovely, eloquent woman. You are doing all the right things and you will be okay.
Perhaps though, she started to wear less make-up and dress down because she wanted him to value her mind and she wasn't trying to appeal to anyone through her body?
@djohnson6528 right lol, you can make your voice sound..assertive and intelligent and the vocabulary is that of a senior in high school... it's not hard at all to sound "smart", she just comes off as annoying
I believe from her interview, that she does definitely feels that she was being utilized to assist in what was happening. I think this was why she couldn't keep silent about what was going on and sent the incident to HR. Personally, I don't feel she was accountable for someone else's abusive actions. Being asked to do your job duties for position and fulfilling your profession. I don't think that makes her responsible. She did wrote the memo to HR. Large corporations have so much power in covering up and burying allegations. This by no means dosn't only happens in large Corp, smaller businesses and other workplaces. To make this type of complaint, you need at least some documentation and information gathering that takes time to do. And to do it without get caught doing it. Also, She knew she was going to have to hold her ground, pay legal bills, and possibly never being employed in your field. And your mental health. I am glad that she knew that possible and very real risks was involved and also having the insight to ensure that she needed to be diligent about taking care of her mental health. That thing this woman describes as hiding: I’ve done that. It began in a work place where I worked lots of late nights and long hours and eventually learned that I felt unsafe. Stopped wearing makeup, stopped wearing heels, stopped wearing skirts (after I noticed one senior coworker 3 offices down from mine eye me, after he’d made some late night calls to my cell phone), stopped smiling or being friendly to everyone. I can’t pinpoint the specific events that triggered this, or how fast this all happened, but it’s a defensive instinct.
me too, I'm a doctor and I did my obligatory social service year with the army, I wasn't targeted because female oficials were much easier pickings but once I had to go to from for emergencies fairly regularly at often odd hours on foot by myself on a pitch dark base I just stoped, bye makeup, always buns, caps, loose scrubs and only loose clothes
Being there. In my 20es wearing a top that showed my cleavage and a male colleague; undressed me all through the conversation. He didn’t even try to hide it. It was bad. From that day, I never wore a top that showed anything. I’m 80% in turtle necks and when I’m not. It’s up to my neck. I never ever want to experience that feeling again

I have a lot of experience with men like this. If they are doing this in a public place surrounded by lots of ears, I face up to them, get close to them, and say in a loud voice: "NO, I DO NOT WANT TO HAVE SEX WITH YOU AND STOP ASKING ME" If they dare to fire me, I have a lot of witnesses, as well as cell phone audio. If this is in a private location, I relax and act as if I'm compliant, and get them close enough to poke their damn eyes. I never understood why women are afraid to hurt their attacker. We can agree to disagree - I hope. Yes, English is my third language and the keyboard of my phone often does a strange autocorrect plus I'm sure I'm not perfect in English grammar (I can only see a -ly missing above that is usually due to autocorrect). Correct grammar doesn't make one eloquent or well spoken though. There is more to it. I mentioned who I think to be so. Have a nice day !
@@geckolia3823 Perhaps she is more educated / brushed and less emotional than Zelda Perkins, though writing this I think both of this is a superficial assessment.

@Rashmi Bhattarai You need to think more. If you want to work with them, you have to take a stand. You think taking them to prison will stop them. You can open up your own companies. How about that? Lauren is a true hero in my book. Thank you, Lauren!
Thank you, dear Lauren O'Connor, for speaking up in 2015 and for continuing to do so. There is much love and appreciation out here for you, and for those who are standing up with you. That would be from fellow victims of such abuse, and just any human who is connected to their own heart. Blessings to you in your healing journey.
Just imagine she wasn't even assaulted and she is clearly twisted up inside. Imagine the actual victims. Let that sink in. Kudos Lauren

So interesting that this woman starting "hiding" her evident beauty around Weinstein and wasn't fully conscious of why she was doing it. I think this is what happens to most of us. This happened to me at Time Inc. in my relationships with some high-up executives. watching her near tears as she retells weeping in a parking lot with a burner phone worrying about telling her parents is super telling: the shame (unmerited), the anxiety, the financial toll (therapy, travel, legal expenses). Stopped wearing makeup, stopped wearing heels, stopped wearing skirts (after I noticed one senior coworker 3 offices down from mine eye me, after he’d made some late night calls to my cell phone), stopped smiling or being friendly to everyone. I was afraid to report him to HR because the reputation HR had was that they would find the reason to fire or lay me off. I told about it to one of the coworkers, who thought that it was funny that this man (mid to late fifties at the time) was masturbating in front of me. Luckily I was able to find job in another department. But the bottom line was, I did not believe I was able to report him to HR because had I complain I would have paid price for it. This type of harassment is happening not only in movie industry, it is present everywhere.
Great Interview!
H.R. they really handled it well didn’t they?
As usual. They are NOT there for employees.
Finally!! One woman that did not 'engage' and spoke up! All the others didn't.
I. Just can't wrap head around the way business or corporations actually are built on such hipocracy... Is anything REAL? ITS SPOOKY AND CREEPY
It's evil and wrong
Lauren O'Connor is the bravest woman to come out against this man. She is so intelligent, well spoken, a woman all women should be proud of and support. I don't understand why all the women she has given the opportunity and courage to come forward have not supported her morally and financially. If not for her it may never have happened. She should not find herself at a disadvantage for her bravery and courage to do what so many other women were not empowered to do. Lauren gave them this power.
