- The voice that gave rise to a watershed moment belongs to Rose McGowan. Best known for her Hollywood and television roles (Planet Terror, Scream, Jawbreaker, Charmed), she battled a sexist and abusive industry bent on hijacking her image, propelling her to become an activist and agent of change. It was McGowan’s explosive reports in The New Yorker and The New York Times that opened the floodgates that have brought sexual assault and harassment out of the shadows. Joined by journalist Ronan Farrow, who wrote The New Yorker story, McGowan talks about the experiences captured in her new book, BRAVE. Equal parts memoir and manifesto, the work is as fierce, raw and unapologetic as its creator.

Rose is what we in Sweden call a "dandelion child". She comes from a very dark place, had a rough childhood growing up in a cult and she left with absolutely nothing and became an independent, self supported woman very strong and caring. I admire her and her strength to carry on.
What a great phrase. In America we have one similar. Its "The rose that grew from concrete." The symbolism is very similar. That something so tiny, wild, delicate & beautiful can push it's way through something so barren & strong, finding a way to not only against all odds exist, but to survive & thrive. Tupak Shakur wrote a poem with the same name, it reads

learned to walk with out having feet.

Ms. Rose McGowan is for real. Some people will think she is somewhat crazy. She's not. She is letting you see what, and who a survivor really looks and sounds like. 7 years from now she will sound different, barring another traumatic event.

I've just watched it a second time a year later, having started the process of recovery from my own sexual trauma, and Rose's words about how important it is to feel anger, and how there's no soft place to fall and that deserves sorrow speak much louder to me now. What a brilliant lady.

Mia Farrow called Woody Allen’s sister, right after she discovered Soon-Yi and Woody were together, and she left an angry voicemail that said, “Woody took my daughter. Moses Farrow, who was around 15 at the time, saw the abuse of Mia Farrow and endured the abuse himself. He saw that Mia turned all the children against Woody. Moses expressed that he missed Woody and wanted to see him, and Mia slapped him across the face. Moses also saw a huge flaw in the fake story that Dylan continues to tell. Dylan describes a scene where Woody “lures” her up to an attic to play with a train set, then she alleges that Woody molested her. Moses says that that train set wasn’t up in the attic till years later. The entire thing is a lie that resulted from Mia’s intense rage toward Woody. She wanted revenge, and she used Dylan as a weapon to exact her revenge. Yeah, other than this completely false allegation against Alexander Payne, I wonder what other complete fabrications and falsehoods exist in her book. If there was a movie Alexander Payne directed for Showtime prior to Rose allegedly meeting him at age 15, that means it would be 1988 or before since she was born in 1973. Therefore, there would be paystubs and IRS Tax Forms, and an accounting trail. I have worked on a couple movie sets, and it’s required, as it is for any job that includes payments for work. These would have to be under Alexander’s name, even if the movie wasn’t, as Rose claims. Plus, there would have been dozens of people who worked on the film crew, as well as editors and producers. All of these people would have to be silent. There wasn’t a production, obviously, because Showtime would have no reason to hide all this information, and a crew of people wouldn’t be silent. Plus, there would be accountants and pay stubs and tax forms, not to mention the movie itself. Where is all this evidence? She’s lying. When people are faced with the reality of this lie being exposed, why do they double-down, like Rose has?

The only reason why Weinstein lasted as long as he did was because he was smart and had the resources and the gall to do what he did. How is this any different? The news media, not just Hollywood, the news media constantly and consistently lies to their viewers, and if they're not lying to you, then they omit information, or report a half-truth.
You can't possibly tell me you trust Hollywood to be honest. There's a hell of a lot more people who are dishonest in Hollywood and in major media outlets than anywhere else. Yes you're right, there should be paper trails, etc..., but someone is probably being paid to hide that information or making it extremely tough to find that information.
The other reason why I find it hard to believe she's lying is because of the following she has. I find it hard to believe she's lying cause she honestly doesn't have much to gain in speaking about this. She's kind of a moving target.
Unfortunately it can consume one too. It is a precarious line. She's going to have to find a place where and when she can release it to heal.
She needs it now, but it will consume her and Destroy her if she holds it too long.

A lot of people give Rose a hard time and, I must admit, I am not a big fan of her personality as she's very defended, but I wish haters would realise that the reason she is like that is because of a lifetime of abuse. I’ve watched this a few times now and I have to express my admiration for both Rose and Ronan. Rose is so strong and valiant for speaking out even when her voice shakes.
Ronan does a great job of respecting Rose’s trauma and asking questions that help us understand her better. I tip my hat to both of them.

She was Woody and Mia's daughter! He literally "groomed" his adopted daughter until(that we know of, that is) she was almost of legal age! Some ppl try so hard to dismiss Woodys actions by saying they're not blood so she's not really his daughter. That's just b.s.! I was adopted as well. When I was an awkward kid, and Rose (also a kid, i realize) seemed to have the world by the balls, I never would have believed that one day I would strongly identify with her. Or that this commonality of thought and experience and affect would be anything other than awesome. That it would in fact be excruciating, and a point of indictment. But I do think she's brilliant, and I think this interview is brilliant. And Ronan does a commendable job of both honoring and challenging his guest, and ensuring that she is not only heard, but understood.
Rose is, for the better or for worse is a lightning rod to bring out abusive predatory sexual behaviors to the forefront. For those who never lived a lifelong being abused as she did and so quick to judge on her wounded public behaviors, I wish they should slow down, put themselves in her shoes to imagine what would they or how would they behave in that circumstances. A little understanding and compassion for a wounded person would be much more helpful to the already highly fraught situation. Some of these comments are insensitive, shallow, vile and willfully ignorant. Once again using the words "she needs help" or diminishing her violation/rape and pain to simply ridiculous personal politics in an attempt to make her seem crazy or somehow less legitimate is truly what's insane. She's already said on another show she used her money from Harvey W. to get therapy. I think instead of looking at her, seeing someone who may not be "behaving" how YOU might behave as a victim of that crime- YOU need to step out of that useless mindset and realize not all victims "behave" soft, weak and are sobbing in a corner for years.
She is brave and she was telling this for 20 years. Some of you are only just now hearing about it! She had to go through many phases of grieving for her former self. Dylan describes a scene where Woody “lures” her up to an attic to play with a train set, then she alleges that Woody molested her. Moses says that that train set wasn’t up in the attic till years later. The entire thing is a lie that resulted from Mia’s intense rage toward Woody. She wanted revenge, and she used Dylan as a weapon to exact her revenge. Yeah, other than this completely false allegation against Alexander Payne, I wonder what other complete fabrications and falsehoods exist in her book. If there was a movie Alexander Payne directed for Showtime prior to Rose allegedly meeting him at age 15, that means it would be 1988 or before since she was born in 1973. Therefore, there would be paystubs and IRS Tax Forms, and an accounting trail. I have worked on a couple movie sets, and it’s required, as it is for any job that includes payments for work. These would have to be under Alexander’s name, even if the movie wasn’t, as Rose claims. Plus, there would have been dozens of people who worked on the film crew, as well as editors and producers. All of these people would have to be silent. There wasn’t a production, obviously, because Showtime would have no reason to hide all this information, and a crew of people wouldn’t be silent. Plus, there would be accountants and pay stubs and tax forms, not to mention the movie itself. Where is all this evidence? She’s lying. When people are faced with the reality of this lie being exposed, why do they double-down, like Rose has?

I am glad she brought that issue to light so maybe it will inspire a dialog about how those men unintentionally steal a girl's innocence bit by bit by doing so.
