Adult finger painting 2.0

  • I’m calling this art demo “adult finger painting 2.0” because it is a derivative of a demo I did previously where you follow where the paint wants to go, with extraordinary results!
I learned the foundation of this technique from ‪@FroyleArt‬ who shared it on her fabulous TH-cam channel, and then I added a twist of my own (of course 😉).
This 2022 video was originally filmed Live on Instagram, and thus in a vertical format. All new 2023 videos are horizontal and the audio will be correctly linked to the video! Unfortunately there is nothing I can do to correct the audio misalignment in an older Instagram video.

I’ve done this technique, as well-learned it from Froyle, and I solved the problem of loving both sides of the paper equally but being torn about which side to use by doing this: I scan each side on my Epson flatbed scanner so can print either side again. I’ll use the original knowing that I’ll always have the images to re-use if I want to.
And, I agree: the benefit of doing this as you have on top of the tissue paper instead of on top of a gel plate is that you get the added “texture” produced by the wrinkled paper underneath.
Thank you for the great tutorial!

What a great idea to scan your faves to use over and over. My solution for loving both is just making more!

I ve started using the wet strength tissue...less issues with tearing. I love paint on my hands...i don't bother with girly fingernails so its less an issue for me. The reason i like the paint, is I'm able to be physically be in touch with my art and its a nice reminder of the joy i've experienced.

So true about the wet strength, although since I don't move my cheaper tissue until it's totally dry, its not an issue for me either. Lovely that you connect to your art through the paint on your hands. Love that!

And thanks for reposting older work...it saves me having to give through your entire video list....i think its awesome as it brings new visitors to your channel.

Thank you so much, I am continuing to bring over more old videos as well, it feels easier to organize all of the old art demos on TH-cam! In addition to new weekly videos every Tuesday at 2:00pm EST!

One way I've tried this is by using one of those stretchable trash bags. I slit it so I have one wide plastic surface, & then do the painting on the tissue paper. The stretch part of the trash bag gives a snake skin effect on it!
And aprons & gloves doesn't prevent me from getting paint on me EVERYWHERE, so i am resigned to looking like a paint monster

So love the idea of the trash bag, especially for the snake skin affect. Brilliant. Paint is everywhere in my studio too. My husband asks me on a weekly basis when I'm going to get the paint off the floor, and I respond the same every time - when we're selling the house (which means many years from now!).

Is the audio worse on the vertical videos, which this one is? These are older, and not originally made on TH-cam. Wondering if that is the problem with hearing me.

All of my new videos filmed from May 2023 and on are horizontal. This one is a replay from 2022 which was filmed as Instagram Live, and thus vertical. I didn't want to toss good art demo, so I'm reposting them here. I might refilm these horizontal, but so many people saw the original, that I''m hesitant to repeat them. I appreciate you support of my channel with this reminder.

Just found your channel and I'm hooked. I am so going to try this! I'm new to using paint. I have always used other mediums. I used to hate getting my hands dirty. But since getting Guillan-Barre Syndrome, I'm unable to hold onto things really well. So, I'll just go down memory lane of when I was a kid and did crafts in grade school. Never came home with clean hands!

Welcome, I am so glad you're here! I think this (and collage in general) is a fabulous alternative to holding things or perhaps some other mediums that may be more strenuous. I love playing in my art, it's very reminiscent of being a child! Happy creating 😊💖

This demo was originally created on Instagram Live, which is a vertical format, and then uploaded into TH-cam. All of my new videos from May on are filmed horizontal. I will eventually refilm those that are vertical, but at the moment, this is the best I can do! Thanks for being patient as I do this!
