Great camera work, you did good. I wish everyone on you-tube would learn from this and have a decent camera, instead of a lot of junk camera phone recordings which suck!, that we have to see a lot of the time. You did a great job at filming the take-off on the 400. What a beautiful airplane and the great BA flies them well.
Love the way those RB211's first shriek when throttled up, then go into buzz-saw mode. Also check out the wing tip - so drooped down with full fuel in the tanks at the start of the roll, but positively bent upwards with lift on take off. Nice!
@Juliansworld, @brubrown2, yes, it still exists as a direct flight, but BA is now flying this with 777s. Flight time is 9 hrs from London, 10 hrs from Bangalore. You can also go via Frankfurt with LH or Paris with AF.
Have fond memories of those Rollers, from back in the '90s when BA had its non-stop service to Buenos Aires. Those 20 minutes or so of that unique buzz soar were usually the highlight of the 13-hour flight. Too bad BA has already initiated the phase-out of these beautiful beasts. :( PS. Agreed, the more common GEs don't sound as good.
I am new to this sort of stuff, but what I dont understand is how can the wings take the weight of the engines or why do the engines just not snap off the wing. It's a noob question but hopefully someone can tell me
As a newbie - Trents are RR engines? fly more than the average person due to work and becoming interested in the unique buzzing on a 747 - noisy upstairs for a while, but Virgin.... No noise... If a silly questions I apologise!
To 2009AdamH That sound appear to most commercial airlines during take off sequence... And the answer to that is that as the engine throttles up to full power during takeoff combined with the thick and dence air at low altitudes that sound appears (due to huge ammount of dence and thick air being sucked into the engine)... Thats why the sound dissapears at higher alltitide (thinner air, 70 % thrust)
@nathan775 It's all due to the study of aerodynamics!!! Aerodynamics are the key!! That and good, Stout construction!!! That's the reason the engines don't just snap off the wing, Hopefully this answers your question.
Not compared to a twin it's not, but compared to the A340 the 747's climb rate is much greater. Not to mention, at top cruise speed, the 747 is among the fastest of any commercial jet.
I think this BA Boeing 747-400 is very lovely with RR RB211-524H engine rather than JL Boeing 747-400 with GE CF6-80C21BF and SQ Boeing 747-400 with PW 4056.

OMG that jet sound its so perfect! Thanks for the up load.
Awesome sound from the Trents and nice clear footage! Thanks
Looks like a main deck CW seat. Great video. I love the sound of the RR's on take-off.
Awesome!! I love the 747-400! I want to fly on one before they're all gone. I would love to go to India, as well!

You've got to love Rollers! This is Rolls Royce at it's best. Lay back and enjoy...
Very good. Seems to be a fast rotation too.
I love planes :-)

ah man, listen to those engines purrr, lol... awesome video!
Amazing video!
wow i love the british airways.how ever the aircraft may be but still is the first in my rank
Hey nice video!
Do you still remember where you sat?
Yes. The RR engines sound different compared to GE which are more often found on boeings.

it's not getting up into the sky very fast does it?

Amazing Video
I wish that real was FSX or atleast ANY PAYWARE SCENERY
btw subbed
Was this taken from the upperdeck?
Thanks
how long was the flight??
Think before you speak, how does the airline come into it at all?
to Bangalore?
@brubrown2 so was that business class then?

Don't they usually pull back on th thrust during the climb with the RR's? I didn't hear any change.... he must have left them at 100%.
exelente video!!

Depends on wether it is a derated takeoff thrust.
@jetfreak4 Airlines are more interested in the balance sheet per passenger the A380 is the most efficent
I love flying.....
@NickPwnsUTube It was my mistake, it just looked like it was an Airbus A340. But yes it is a Boeing 747-400.
I haven't been on a plane in ages. so i've resorted to watching them take off on you tube...how sad
They do on 767's.
I find it quiter to sit behind the engines than sitting in front of it.
@1stcenturyproduction I can assure you it isn't. BA don't even fly A340's.
@brubrown2 very long take off trust phase ! :-) ggg soooooo cool sound woooooooooooow
Rolls Royce engines? They do a beautiful purr ....
At least the M25 is flowing for once!
wind sound disappates much of the sound
listening to those engines makes me wanna play wiv me knob
seems heavy
Is that the sound of Rolls Royce? Damn...like a good stripper!
it's like 2 757's in 1
RB211 all the way!!!
cool
CHECK THE WEIGHT OF THOSE WINGS, enough fuel eh
this look so real lol jk nice vid
what?
This looks for like an Airbus A340.
I like the sound rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrroooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
No they don't.
What do you expect when it weighs over 400 tonnes!
lol it climbs at such a steep angle
i have the w200

i can see spearmint rhino's!!!!
lol
