Very nice video, i have flown lots of times but it is amazing and still awesome every times i fly on one of these big birds. Just beautifull above the clouds. Thanks for sharing. 5 star video.
Nice view, great sounds. Even though I'm an aircraft mechanic, one thing I never get used to is seeing the wing flexing and the engines bobbing around.
This is an excellent video. Exactly how most of us passengers feel and see the flight. I so wish I had become a pilot in my life. What an exciting thing it must be to command a machine like this!
It always amazes me that those engines can stay on the wing of a 747 with as much thrust as they have and the way the move around and flex. Its like they want to fly off. Great sound though wish I could loop it into an audio and go to sleep to it with headphones on. It makes me dream of traveling. :-)
i love this vid the sound of them engines, then flying above the clouds AWESOME i also like that 747 -400 take off with the wings twanging all over the place , both of thes are my fav 747 take offs .......ps ive seen some lovely A380 take offs ,as well i cant decide between a 747 0r an a 380, i love em both i must say the A380 is very quite on take off and flight as i live close to londons heathrow, and i see all the big ones coming in early in the morning!
I know this is from ‘07 but love it. I never got to ride on the grand old 747 but I love longer take off rolls. I flew last month on a 319 and 737 respectively and it had to be less than 30 second take off roll. Also these newer engines don’t feature that air conditioner compressor sound. Nice to hear that once in awhile.
Man oh man I love the HUM those babies crank out, imagine the suction at the front, even at the great speed. Of course we are hearing 4 engines, not just the two we can see.
Its nice to take off when its all dark then above the clouds its all nice and shiny and then you can see the big cloud castles Thats what i call them :D
those seats look like awesome seats for this video taping - i too, had similar seats in af 747-400, where the filming was awesome!! nice video, i love it!
Each of the 747's engines weigh around 5 tonnes. Add a full fuel load to that and it kinda makes you wonder how the wings withstand that kind of stress. Hats off to technology !!!
Sweet take off - listen to the power reduction at 1:30!!! Awesome! That little sound and reduction in power usually causes people onboard to look out the window to see what the Hell was that! What's going on!! Awesome!!!
I flew a 747 to Singapore and I recall there was a tad more room then most smaller commercial jets. It wasn't luxury, but it wasn't bad either. Just be sure to get up and move around every so often, bring a good book and some music.
Actually the slats retract to prevent damage to them from anything kicked up by the reversers. This is an option that an airline could order. I think most carriers of the 400 went with it but you'll see a lot of older 747 classics without the option.
@natbrain You might want to add Philippine Airlines also..The flight was 12 hours late and low and behold at 1PM I see a PAL A340 lifting off!! I caught it on HD video..I'll have it up on my channel pronto! I remember PAL used to operate their A340's on the MNL-SFO route but it has been 744's for quite a while.
10/10 video (Would have been 11 but I had to mark it down because I wanted more :P) All kidding aside, super video, those engines making such a gorgeous sound :)
The 747-400 is a pretty amazing airplane. You would expect an airplane of that size to not be able to climb very rapidly given how much momentum it needs to build up to reach takeoff speed on the runway...but once it's off the ground the thing climbs like a rocket. The earlier 747 models do not climb as rapidly probably because their wingspans are not as great as the -400 and the early 747 wing is structurally heavier than the -400.
My favorite place to sit while in an airplane is right next to the wing, becuase it looks so cool when the plane lands and the flaps come up and everything.
@Dreama40 I agree completely, but considering that a similar view could be seen 40 years ago on a Lufthansa 747-100, in the early days of widebodies, it's even more remarkable!
san francisco... actually the airport is in millbrae theres a park right next to the airport called coyote point. i used to go there to see one of the most amazing achivements that humans have ever created..... once i took a girl to coyote point she broke up w me because obviously the planes had all my attention. ill never forget this city...
@EndL1ch Hi Its called ' climb power', it can be carried out by the pilot, or by the flight management system linked to the auto-throttle. There's normally whats called an acceleration altitude where the aircraft starts to speed up, raise flaps etc.
wow, my fav part of flying is when you go up throught the clouds, and then its like another world above them. What kind of camera did you use? Its very clear
@neruni The buzzing sound you're hearing is due to the nature of the fan loading for high bypass turbofan engines, which these engines are. The blades, imparting a huge momentum change per unit area to the surrounding air, exhibit a pressure difference that's nontrivial. The pressure at the front of the blades is much lower than at the back, so this difference must resolve itself at the trailing edge. It's that pressure difference, repeated for each blade, that causes that buzzing sound.
Hey don't you know to turn off all electronic equipment during take-off and landing..? ;) Thanx for the upload! I have always thought 747's were the best of the best!
Think of it as a car...You don't keep the accelerator pedal to the floor all of the time haha. The 'Auto-throttle' is in control of the thrust during pretty much all stages of flight. On takeoff it is set to "Takeoff Go-Around (TOGA)". This is activated at around 0:06 seconds in the video. Then it is switched to "Climb Thrust (CLB)" at around 1:28. This is done as the aircraft no longer needs full power (and it reduces wear & tear on the engines). It is all for efficiency.
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and it is basically a day in a hundred when you don't get fog along the coastline from Santa Cruz all the way up north to Bodega Bay.
oh yeah they are! T7 engines are as the same diameter as a 737! About 3.5mt wide or something... And 747 engines are quite smaller, but still they're big.
i am not positive on this, but i think those engines are particularly loud because they are rolls royce. they have a particular sound to them. 747 use rolls, ge, or p&w, depending on where the plane is from usually.
Is it just me or does it feel like there is a pause when the plane takes off? Takeoff is nice...but for me landings are better...b/c that means you've come down safely =]
@georgedori51 During the testing phases, the perform stress tests on the wings to see just how far they will stretch, both upward and downward. You would be surprised how much the wings flex before they break.
I love watching that wing flexion. No matter how scary it may look it's safe. Not forgeting it's always a beautiful day...above the clouds.
It's so nice when you take off from a cold country always cloudy, then suddenly above the clouds, there's the sunlight and blue, feels so good:D
There's just something so majestic about the 747, I hope they never go away, such alluring qualities that words cannot be brought to explain.
this video is awsome, steady camera, great view of the engines as they poke thru the bed of clouds!
Very nice video, i have flown lots of times but it is amazing and still awesome every times i fly on one of these big birds.
Just beautifull above the clouds.
Thanks for sharing.
5 star video.
Nice view, great sounds. Even though I'm an aircraft mechanic, one thing I never get used to is seeing the wing flexing and the engines bobbing around.
those wings are incredibly flexible! one of my all time favorite planes
Awsome! Neat seeing the 747 catch up to and pass the Airbus that is landing on the parallel runway!
This is an excellent video. Exactly how most of us passengers feel and see the flight. I so wish I had become a pilot in my life. What an exciting thing it must be to command a machine like this!

2:07 this is my favorite part of flying on airplanes. the clouds are so surreal and beautiful
beautiful video!!!
and LOVEE the sound of those engines!!!
Well done! beautiful!!!
love it when a plane goes through clouds....so beautiful =')
i love the howling sound of the engines!!! its MUSIC!!!
I like clouds; it gives you a feeling you're closer to the ground :)
Those Rolls Royce RB211 Engines sound beautiful! :D
Look at those wings flapping like a bird's ! Great video.
That sound sounds so incredible and powerful! 5/5
i love this vid the sound of them engines, then flying above the clouds AWESOME i also like that 747 -400 take off with the wings twanging all over the place , both of thes are my fav 747 take offs .......ps ive seen some lovely A380 take offs ,as well i cant decide between a 747 0r an a 380, i love em both i must say the A380 is very quite on take off and flight as i live close to londons heathrow, and i see all the big ones coming in early in the morning!
I love this video! I am a REALLY big fan of Aviation! I want to fly ALL MY LIFE :)!!!!
Love it as you see the wing flexing upwards as they carry the plane's weight.
Awesome with the other jet landing :)
nice view of the 747 and airbus landing too..
Nice cloud blanket on top that gives an additional and dramatic feel of speed.
wow...loved the take off...awesome sound.......well done...
Really nice Transition at the clouds!!!
Nothing likethe sound of Trance music and the roar of an overloaded powerful jet trying to get airborne!
The flexing wings and engines are amazing. The engines sometimes look there are not even attached to the wings as they move differenty.
Beautiful graphics! And I like the wing flexing at about 1:10.
I know this is from ‘07 but love it. I never got to ride on the grand old 747 but I love longer take off rolls.
I flew last month on a 319 and 737 respectively and it had to be less than 30 second take off roll. Also these newer engines don’t feature that air conditioner compressor sound. Nice to hear that once in awhile.
talk about some thin clouds. nice vid thanks for uploading
Awesome footage! I love the B747.
Man oh man I love the HUM those babies crank out, imagine the suction at the front, even at the great speed. Of course we are hearing 4 engines, not just the two we can see.
I AGREE this is a VERY GOOD take off vid,.........have you entered it for a cannes film award! cause its a WINNER.
Its nice to take off when its all dark then above the clouds its all nice and shiny and then you can see the big cloud castles
Thats what i call them :D
The roar of those engines IS a good background song.

Nothing like the sound of Trance music and the roar of an overloaded powerful jet trying to get airborne!
5***** Exellent sound of the engines!
Nice!
Notice how the wing tip fleses under the lift load as the plane accelerated down the runway and takes off.
Nice video mate! :) awsome sound as well! Thanks for posting it!
EXCELLENT SOUND AND TAKE OFF!!
Each of the 747's engines weigh around 5 tonnes. Add a full fuel load to that and it kinda makes you wonder how the wings withstand that kind of stress. Hats off to technology !!!
The Roar of a 747 is Freakin AWESOME!
very nice camera work! great video!
nice race between jumbo and Airbus A319 :-)
Sweet take off - listen to the power reduction at 1:30!!! Awesome! That little sound and reduction in power usually causes people onboard to look out the window to see what the Hell was that! What's going on!! Awesome!!!

Great! Its not shaking as a lot of videos are

i'll always be impressed by the felxibility of these birds' wings...
Love the engine sounds! Power Climb at 1:29 Niiice
The sound is gorgeous
the video is recorded very well the camera so still.
good for you

Excellent video!
it is so beautiful... the clouds (L) like that than the sea
the hum of the GE's, its beautiful
Yes, without a doubt. The other route is SFO-MUC, with an Airbus A340. SFO-FRA is an LH 744.
My favorite place to sit while in an airplane is right next to the wing, becuase it looks so cool when the plane lands and the flaps come up and everything.
love the sound of the engine
GREAT SOUND!!
Awesome sound !
great video.. hopefully you had a great experience with LH :)
Amazing video!!!
Proper good video! Thanks for uploading :)

I like the sounds of engines.
Love the sound of those Rolls Royce engines.

Nice video with wonderful sound
btw do You know which runway it is
i loved the that engine sound

This is exactly what my energy is like everyday of my life. I was even like this when i was 6.
Great video! :)
exellent video ! add in my fav!
man, that sounded good!
Excellent. How did the camera stay so still not mounted?
mmmm...that sound sooths my soul.
the wing looks so wobbly!!
love the sound :)

@my235 I think so. Helicopter blades experience similar loading. Except, with helicopters, you don't have the rotors passing stators.
Very nice takeoff! Were you in business or economy?
nice video! :)

That buzzing noise would drive me insane!
@shadmehr2008 the cool thing about 747's , they have four engines. so if one blows up, you still got three of them keeping you in the air.
Nice >>> Very Very NICE.....
i like how the UA plane landed then ur plane caught up to it. Are the engines of the 747 smaller than the 777
