Stunning, i love these, i had one way back in Goodwood Green, i bought it off Sophie Ellis Bexters drummer who lived near me, i had never heard of her as im a 50s Rockin Fan. I was handed the Album cover of the band at the time The Audience which it waws on the from with Sophie sat on the bonnet.

My grandmother had one of these, white with a red interior. We took many trips with that car and never had a problem with it.

Looks a tidy car, I had one back in 1976, and just bought one this year, mine has the 2ltr Pinto efi engine with auto gearbox making it very nice to drive! Spent a long while searching for one as they don't seem to come up for sale very often now! Got to be one of the best looking cars Ford made.

Great to hear that you've found a Consul Capri Ian. Hope it's going well for you. Here in New Zealand I've seen two come up for sale in the last 20 years, one a lovely survivor, the other was dragged out of a paddock and really only good for parts. They are a car that people seem to really hang on to they find one .

I had a 63 Ford Classic that I bought around 1973. I put an engine from a Cortina GT 1500 in it. The engine from my Classic went in a friends Anglia.

Quite a nice review. Unless you get the even rarer GT, the performance of the 1300 & 1500s would seem poor today. They also have an abysmally low axle ratio,1000 rpm = 16.5 mph, so this Zetec engined version is a brilliant upgrade with a 5 speed gearbox. The bottoming out issue is not normally a problem, must be lowered or needs new springs.

A friend of mine had a Ford Consul Capri which he had fixed himself, he led my try the car, but after a very short ride it caught fire ! He had left uninsulated wires under the seat, I got fast out of the car unharmed.

My dad had a 1959 Ford Consul with variable speed wipers, but they were called vacuum wipers then 😂.

Such a shame that the name "Capri" was adorning the best looking glamourous cars that Ford made not to mention anybody else and now the name has been grafted on to some mundane boring4 door electric car .

Had it's sister, the Consul Capri classic. Fantastic car and well ahead of it's time. One little thing, get rid of that stupid backing music. Thank you..

My Dad had one about 40 years ago, he was always mucking around with Fords & he stuck a V4 2 litre from the old Transit in it, don't know why!. He would of done better with a 1600 crossflow or Pinto, the V4 was a dog!

In my personal opinion this was the worst looking Ford til the KA arrived on the scene
