I've just bought this car with the updated e-Skyactiv-X engine. Driven carefully, it is capable of at least 5.4l/100 km, or 52 mpg (UK calculation), verified at the fuel pump and in sync with on board computer. So far, I love the car.

Turbos fun no doubt. But not all car needs it. This skyactiv x is new innovation by mazda, and if it continues to be reliable and do what they say it does, then maybe one day they'll be able to make an engine that provides torque like turbos with the efficiency of this engine.
They are challenging themselves and trying to make a name of their own in the automobile market. Pushing themselves with innovation and designs.
I am absolutely loving this direction they are going. I am more of a comfort driver, and theres also not much use of sports car here in uk.
Theres first for everything. Now they can go for more. And the idea about ambient lighting is spot on. It will make the car more premium. Even though mazda said it hinders the eyes. It's no doubt that alot of low level brands are also taking advantage of it to make their car more premium. It's a bit of a gimmick but one that works.

I guess this is an old video, but it's new to me. I just bought a used 2020 Mazda3, and it was fascinating to go on a ride with you. I'm in the USA, so some things are very different from what I saw. I'm still trying to learn where all the controls are - I came here from a Mazda MX-5 SE, and this car is gigantic by comparison! Thanks!!

We should get our hand on our CX30 skyactiv-X in a few weeks. From What I have heart, the first 3000km Mazda is protecting the engine, less power higher fuel consumption. So check this out.

Wish this would come state-side in this configuration... 3 Sedan with SkyActiv X and manual would be quite nice. Probably would be limited to the Premium package like the hatchback though...

I was extremely surprised as well, the guy is from Croatia and everything is in bulgarian. I know that there are common words between our languages but it was completely in bulgarian, for a second I thought that he is a Bulgarian living in Croatia lol

Really small thing.. 1:42 The way they have a circular fuel cap on a Saloon just looks out of place. Other than that love the styling of both this and the Hatch.

It is! The civic with the base 2.0L engine and CVT can do 0 to 60 half a second faster than this.

Hopefully Mazda will offer this SkyActiv-X engine with turbo charger in the future with the other existing car and SUVs.
never! no turbos on Mazda
The skyactiv x technology will not be controllable with a turbo at the moment. Theres simply no room for boost with the compression this engine has. I Also doubt we will see aftermarket components and tuning for this engine, as it is managed entirely different from a normal petrol engine. If you bring this car to a dynoshop and ask them to chip tune it, I'm pretty shure they would scratch their head.

It is driven by an electric motor. Thus adding the precise control you need for adding the right amount of air in the combustion Chamber. A turbo is alot less controllable, and would be very difficult if not impossible to pair with this engine, running at AFR at 36 to 1 at a 16 to 1 compression ratio.
Good luck adding a turbo on this engine. I would like to see someone try though.

In Europe and Asia that's considered powerful coz of narrow roads and lower speed limits
@@maheshmurali2697 Wrong answer..In Germany there is no speed limit on the autobahn..in almost all european union there is good infrastructure and this engine is considered very modest in performance...maybe for Asia you are right.
car is capable to do it in 8.1s so is not slow. It's ok for 180hp
