As a conservative Christian, who belongs to a southern baptist church (not prosperity gospel), your words could not be more DESERVED, WARRANTED, and JUSTIFIED. From day 1, I have been blown away at how willingly we put this man at the right hand of God. Especially given how poorly we treat other “bad” people in the world, let alone how we treat our own. As a conservative Christian, who belongs to a southern baptist church (not prosperity gospel), your words could not be more DESERVED, WARRANTED, and JUSTIFIED.
From day 1, I have been blown away at how willingly we put this man at the right hand of God. Especially given how poorly we treat other “bad” people in the world, let alone how we treat our own. I assumed this hysteria, that I couldn’t grasp, would pass shortly, but I was wrong….big time. The opposite was actually true. We doubled down on our undying love and support for this man.
If it was policy based, I would have no problem with it. But other politicians have had similar policies and we didn’t anoint them from our pulpits and churches. To this day, I still don’t quite understand why this happened.
A 10 year old child could watch him speak for 30 seconds and know he is the antithesis of what we supposedly believe. One step further, a non religious 10 year old child could watch him and know that he goes against every basic moral that every decent person attempts to live by.
I miserably failed when attempting dialogue about this. The conversation quickly jumped to how I must be a liberal Democrat in conservative clothing. Independent baptist probably gave Trump more support than other evangelical groups. The irony there is profound.
The worst part about all this is he wasn’t even trying to trick us. He was not a wolf in sheep’s clothing, he was a wolf in wolfs clothing. And we instantly handed him the keys. I’m embarrassed and ashamed at the accuracy of your criticism.
I grew up in a Baptist Church, and the people that I used to go to church with would condemn people like him. Preachers would preach sermons against the type of things this man stands for. And, yet they all happily voted for him.
