Usually you use lens with ND filter outdoors, because you have to make video in 1/50, 24 fps, iso 800 if you wanna have cinematic quality result. But you need cease light in this cases. This means that with 24-105 f4 you able to use one MORE stop of light with variable ND filters compered with 24-70 and it’s better to not achieve X effect with high ND filter rates + bonus 70-105 zoom range. For low light 24-70 f2.8 it’s not enough. You need prime lens. That’s is why 24-105 f4 is more suitable for video making outdoors. I have both rf 24-70 2.8 and rf 24-105 f4 but for video last one is more preferable. It’s impossible to record 1/50, 24 fps and iso 800 neither 24-70 or 24-105. It’s booth will fail in low light conditions. Bad news that rf 24-105 f4 have medium chromatic aberration. People on snow or trees on cloudy sky could be bad cases. Also rf 24-105 less sharper than rf 24-70 but for video extreme sharpness is not too good. That’s is why only chromatic aberration is the problem with it but not the one less stop of light. Soo.. 1. One less stop of light is advantage for outdoors video making. 2. Indoors rf 50 f1.2 or rf 35 1.8 is much better. 3. Suffering from chromatic aberration with rf 24-105 could be problem some times. Be aware of it. By the way - f4 is Hollywood standard of filmmaking. Usually you will see picture in films with f4 aperture 🫶😉😊

Using this with the c70 I really wish there was a 2.8 option. The c70 with this lens in low light. Such as indoor events. It’s just not good enough for professional application. Considering changing to 24-70 f2.8, but it’s almost £1,000 more for that extra light.

I still have a 24-70mm 2.8 & 70-200 2.8 in EF now mounted with an adapter.. I am shooting a lot more video these days. I find myself wanting to add the RF 24-105 F4 L to my lineup.. I have the R5, EOS-R & 6DMKII when I trade in my EOS-R and 6DMKII to pick up an R6.. I have been flirting with the idea of getting the R6 with the 24-105 F4 L as a kit. I think I'd use it very often because of it's versatility.
Loved the video, great walkthrough! I am thinking about getting into making cooking videos and trying to look for a versatile lens.. Never done videography before so had no idea what would be good but this definitely helped out a lot.. Great production quality on the video too :)

Right now I don’t have a video how I make my videos, but I will make it in the near future. I’m shooting in clog3 and applying my own luts and color corrections - so you were right it’s both log and lut :)

So many samples and very descriptive demo. I had doubts about the bokeh and focal lengths actual look in this particular lens for so long. This helped me make my mind. Thanks, for real.
The focus will not change as its a fixed aperture F4 but it will not go below F4 being the lowest , you can happily increase though. while comparing any lens one that reads as F3.5 - 7 etc means aperture would change automatically when you zoom in and out but if it reads a single digit like F4 etc that indicates it would not change until you change it yourself.

I use one key light with 90cm softbox on my left and positive fill on the other side. You can easily get the same look as well!

I recently got this lens and absolutely love it. Video looks great and despite being heavier than small primes makes up for it in the zoom range.
