- Just over 99 years old now, Finnair operates a mix of narrowbody and widebody aircraft for its intra-Europe and intercontinental operations, respectively. At the moment, the Finnish carrier has 56 jets in its mainline fleet with another 24 aircraft supporting its regional operations.
So today, we take a deep dive into the fleet of Finnair, examining how it has changed in recent years and how it could develop in the future.

I've flown with finnair at least 30 times and I have nothing bad to say. Crew members have always been super nice and welcoming. Also I have been able to visit the cockpit twice, which was great!

During my life I flew several times with Finnair to Finland (my mother is finnish). I always feel comfortable and secure onboard with nice crews. See you soon!
Same here! My mum is also Finnish... she moved to the UK before I was born. For 30 plus years, we have been travelling to Helsinki / Kuopio via Finnair. My mum told me that we had flown on the Finnair DC-10 from Helsinki to London when I was a baby. So many happy but also sad experiences (saying goodbye to our finnish family, etc) so I tear up easily everytime when I see Finnair or when we leave Finland back to the UK.

With reference to the note at the bottom of the screen at 07:38 that "Flight paths to Asia are altered due to Russian airspace ban" Finnair are now doing flights over the arctic. If you look on the Flight Radar 24 channel there is a great video from the flight deck of a Finnair A350 going from Tokyo to Helsinki over the north pole.
My first flight ever, when I was six months old, was on a Finnair Super Caravelle.
I have then flown many times their DC9 and once their DC10 to JFK.
I was going to fly with them but when I arrived at the airport, the aircraft disappeared into Finnair!

I am from Finland have flown with Finnairs turboprop planes between Helsinki and Vaasa a couple of times, don't know which one because It was a long time ago and I knew nothing about planes back then.
My parents usually choose these little bit cheaper ones like norwegian when we fly to like the canary islands.

Regarding the bus offer, it would be very good if the security check could already be carried out at the regional airport where there is no fear of queues!
As a Finn I have flown a lot. As I remember list would be: multible times with A320 both versions, A321 and 319. Two times with Norra's ATR. Earlier B757 and also many years earlier with dc-9 or md-82 and A300 (Karair label owned by Finnair)
Had a flight on one of there a319s from Manchester in the early summer and we were sat on the ground for around 15 minutes while they fixed the stuck cargo door!

What this video does not talk about is that Finnair's narrow-body fleet is ancient compared to many other European legacy carriers. All A319s and A320 are over 20 years old, and what is shocking is that Finnair is not even planning to update them. Others, like LH, LX and SK, are getting newer NEO options. Others, like AF and BT, are deploying more efficient and newer A220s. AY, on the other hand, does not seem to care in the least about modernisation of its narrow body Airbus fleet.

It is the national flag carrier airline of Bangladesh. It has a rather small but very young and modern fleet of Boeing and Bombardier Aircrafts currently. Previously it also operated Airbus Aircrafts. Biman Bangladesh received the last production unit of McDonnell Douglas DC-10.

I have been on the 320 from Stockholm to helsinki and then to Telaviv in Israel. Not imprest Will not use them again.

I always wondered something. Why has finair only flown 10 Boeing aircraft in all of its history. Has there been some kind of bad blood with the leadership and Boeing in the past?

Finnair was a loyal Mcdonnell Douglas customer until they merged with Boeing in 1997. About the same time Finnair ordered 7 757-200s but chose the A320 over the 737NG. Due to fleet commonality benefits and Pro-EU execs orders for the 777 or the 787 never came.
